Nov 13, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIIThere is no reason to have a penalty associated with game play time.Posted in: News

Nov 9, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIIJeru is right, we have all been using the checkpoint system in D2. everbody would cast tp to make body retrieval quicker than walking back from town. All the checkpoint system does is automatically give you that tp to get back quicker. If you say you do not like the check point system, then play D2 and only use tp's to go back to town and never cast one because you think you might die. After running all the way back from the latest waypoint a couple of times, tell me you don't like the checkpoint system.Posted in: News
The only draw back to the checkpoint system is not bein able to go to town as easily. However, when you died and went to town, it's not like you actually used the town. You would just leave it to get your body. It also sounds like they are minimizing need to go to town. No pots, random merchants to sell stuff. It seems like towns will be used kore for lore than gameplay now. -
Nov 8, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIII don't think the monsters respawn so you wouldn't have to fight your way back. You would catch up to your group quickly because they are stopping to fight.Posted in: News
In the quote it mentions placing the checkpoints at the end of each "floor" in the dungeons. Does this mean we can expect a more dungeon crawling feel from D1 as opposed to the more openess of D2? -
Nov 8, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIII would assume that they would have the same system in place for sing and multi player. I think if you die in a group, you res at the last check point and run to catch back up with them.Posted in: News
Do we know whether or not you res naked and collect your corpse or full res at the last checkpoint. To me it sounds like you get all of your gear when you res.
I would also assume you would keep at least the items you collected from the last checkpoint when you die with no other way to save them but quit the game. How much would it suck to get a unique item, die and loose it or get a unique item and have to save and exit just to ensure you keep it. -
Nov 8, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIIPosted in: NewsQuote from "necronergal" »I would like to know how they would do it with a Hard Core mode. Of course they wont have it. but still. It would be cool if when your character died, if you had a penalty system where you were able to resurrect him somehow. like maybe have your lvls are gone/ you lose all your equipment/etc. type thing. hahaha.
Isn't that the same thing as starting over once you die in hardcore. Just create the same character if you loose everything. -
Nov 8, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIIpunished and annoyed are two separate things. You can loose exp, gold or who knows what else without having to do the mundane run to get back to your body just to die on the way and have to do it again. The punishment of dying should not come at the expense of fun game play.Posted in: News

Nov 8, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Death Mechanics of Diablo IIII like the checkpoint system. I used to get so aggrivated haing to worry about popping tp's just in case I died so I didn't have to run back. Now I won't have to worry about it.Posted in: News

Nov 6, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Torchlight Ups the AnteYou guys do realize that when game companies look at other games they focus mainly on the mechanics and not the art style. There is a lot anyone can take from any game besides visuals.Posted in: News
For instance, one of the smaller things I love in TL is the perm alt hold so objects are always higlighted. I hope D3 adopts this mechanic. -
Nov 6, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Torchlight Ups the AnteI think it is rediculous and ignorant to say that torchlight will hand no effect on D3. Afterall, tekken was a source of inspiration for the monk. If a fighter game can influence them, than surely any other arpg will as well. I am not saying blizzard is redoing everything thanks to torchlight but a lot of blizzard's stuff is still in conception. Any minor changes can still be added without any delay.Posted in: News

most players will not make it through nightmare.
Everyone here will probably make it through inferno

The entire Inferno will not progress in difficulty through the acts.
It basically lets you farm for gear throughout the entire game instead of just the bosses or last act in hell for the best gear.

2. yes, the loot gets progressively better through the difficulties.
3. players don't choose what difficulty to play on when they start the game. The games progressively goes through the difficulties. By level 60, all characters should be on hell or inferno. As players level up they continue through the harder difficulties.
4. Again, you don't really choose a difficulty. The difficulty should match your character's level.
