Dec 13, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Community Spotlight - Chapter IIII think the best off-topic thread created in the last few week would be good to mention. All of us are spending our time in the off-topic forums.Posted in: News
Secondly, I know that my choose your own adventure story is in the RP section but it should belong in the fan fiction section (if someone can help me with this) and could be worth noting in the community spotlight in lue of the inactivity.. The story is based off of Sanctuary lore and the best part is that the other users get to choose what I write. -

You have to admit this patch is nothing but averige. Some games nowadays don't even consider it a patch and just do a sneaky update.
I wanted new content aswel, not just some fixes that don't really bother.

Seriously, after all the hype and anticipation. All we got were bug fixes and minor tweaks. I would like to know what they included from the infamous "Tell us what you want". The shared stash got scrapped so we got nothing from this. Not that shared/larger stash would have been anything worth while either. After 10 years I was just hoping for something new. -
Dec 10, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on The Wait is Over -- PTR Patch 1.13I was holding off for the patch hoping for some new content but nothing. I don't think I'm going to restart D2 until I get the craving again a few months from now.Posted in: News

Dec 4, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsI think MFers ruin the game all together. They don't appreciate the game for what it is.Posted in: News
MFers wouldn't really have a need for these items though with the item having no trade value. The only reason to get the drop is to change your gamme play and if all your doing is MF then these drops aren't worth anything. They could also make these items not effected by MF stats.
Edit: with the items being random drops you could keep getting these items at level 90 so you can still change your character and try something new without loosing your character. Plus this would add one more thing for high levels to do. -
Dec 4, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsI still don't think that the drop rates have to be super rare. Once every 2-3 levels is reasonable.Posted in: News
For people who play more, they should get more. They have earned these items through more game time.
As far as limiting the drops, I don't think it is necessary. If you want to take the time to farm these items to respec rather than reroll a new character then that is your choice.
I don't think luck would be that big of a problem because drop rates can be controlled. It would take some balancing to find the "magic" number for the drop rate but they could balance it between common and super rare. About the some drop rate as unique from D2 maybe. -
Dec 3, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsTrue. At first you would not even need these items. They could make this drop even rarer at the beginning of the game since they will most likely not be needed. They could also slghtly increase the drop rate a high end levels so you can mess around with your build more. The nice about the drop rate is that they can kind of control the amounts of the item. And making them untradeable also helps with the rate in which people receive them. I still think being able to change 1/3 - 1/2 of your skills per character Is a good compromise between full repsecs and no repsecs.Posted in: News

Dec 3, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsThere would be no gold price for respec because they could make them untradeable. Also, luck would not stop you from getting to respec. The item could be controlled to drop often enough to help you fix a skill problem but not enough to redo your character.Posted in: News

Dec 3, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsThat's fine if they want to sell it but they would not be able to sell them to other players only vendor trash them. This would give people the opportunity to respec if they wanted and the other players just get some gold.Posted in: News
The item would drop vary rarely and balanced enough so that you would only get 1 every two-three levels worth of game time. That way you would still have to plan out your build but if you made a mistake, it would not break your character. -
Dec 3, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect Respecswhat if respecing to the shape of a dropped item. That way you would not be able to just change your entire character at once. If you wanted to change some skills, you would have to keep playing in order to find these items. The main problem with this however, is that such a useful item would flood the market as a replacement for gold but they could also make the item untradeable (BoP) since we already know that they have BoE.Posted in: News

Dec 2, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Skill System Changes to Affect RespecsI think that it is simply understood that if the skill system changes then so must the system that lets you redo it.Posted in: News
I think that the respec system is more proof that it will not be a dropped base skill system since respecs would be impossible. I like respec because it helps you when you make a wrong choice or chose a skill by accident. It should come at a high cost so people do not abuse it but it should still be available. -
Nov 24, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on DiabloFans Exclusive: Jay WilsonI agree, too much customization just leads to confusion and balancing issues. I think customization is great but it has to be kept in check. Between gems, skill runes, new skill system, I feel that one system for items would be just fine.Posted in: News

That's weird, they originally had the exact quote in their Inferno article and then pulled it out and only quoted "When it's ready." in that new mini-blip thing. I think his original quote on Kotaku was "by the end of September" but I didn't copy it down.
Anyway, to set expectations straight, beta in August is unlikely. But it shouldn't be too long after.
So, as of now, the best we can hope for is before September 30.

There will probably still be a slight difficulty curve in Inferno, as enemies simply become more complex and have greater abilities later in the game, but we're making an effort to make it as even across the board as possible. It's something we'll very likely have to keep tweaking after release.

I don't consider it the fourth difficulty like normal, nightmare, and hell, because it does no get progressively harder. The monsters in Act 1 inferno are just as tough as the monsters in Act 4 inferno.
The objective is to give people the entire game to farm for better gear instead of just the last boss in hell. There is no incentive to fight in any one particular area in inferno/
