Oct 12, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Diablo III Side Quests- Will the Myriad be Worth It?I think the side quests will not feel like side quests while you are playing. Using the demo from blizzcon 09, the tunnel quest where you had to risk death bs greter reward. I think quests like this will be quick and entertaining. I don't see myself going in, seeing the quest, and being like "no time got to further the story line. It seems like they are doing a great job of adding more content while not taking anything away.Posted in: News

Oct 8, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Auras to Return in Diablo III?Just because the monk is the logical choice doesn't mean they shouldn't. I think with the monks "rune" kit auras would work well but maybe with a twist. Like stationary runes and people in the areA get the effect.Posted in: News

Oct 7, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Is It Too Early to Pre-Order?I don't think that there is anything wrong with the preoders that exist right now. When the officially release date is announced the companies will adjust and you will keep your preorder. My problem with preodering now is that most companies will give you extra stuff for preodering once they get the official news from blizzard. So the only downfall from preodering now is missing out on exclusives and bonuses that they will offer later.Posted in: News

Sep 23, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Character Energy SourcesI'm sure whqteverthey have for the wiz makes sense but I think the wd should use something else than man. Black magic, voodoo power, corpse blood. He is such a unique character, his energy should refelct this.Posted in: News

Sep 10, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Why Blizzard Could Soon Return to Game Consoles.First off, I played D1 on the playstation. Thought it played just as well as on my pc.Posted in: News
Secondly, I don't see what would be wrong with D3 being on a consol. If anything I think the controls would be easier for a hack and slash game. 1-6 keys on your keyboard do not flow near as well as th le a,b,x,y rt, lt, configuration on a controller. you could button mash different skills so much easier on a controller. There is not much else needed for D3. Left analog to move and right Analog to move a selection arrow Start but for character menu. Select button for skill menu. Plus you would still have rb,lb for anything else. Diablo is not a very keyboard sensitive game. I just don't see why some people are so adiment about no diablo for console. I could see Starcraft that is relian on a quick mouse having a problem but not diablo. -

Aug 21, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Has the Tetris Inventory and Magic Find Returned?Posted in: NewsQuote from "Seth" »scyberdragon, the reason most people, including myself, like that it's back is because of nostalgia, I think.
The point I am trying to make is that it is not the tetris style inventory from d2. While it does use a grid there will be no shuffling items to make more room from different size objects fitting together in better patters (like tetris)
if everything is 1-2 squares then there will not be an tetris moves to make
Once again I likethe new inventory it's just not the tetris style from d2 more of a mix between d2 and the other one -
Aug 21, 2009ScyberDragon posted a message on Has the Tetris Inventory and Magic Find Returned?I am saying that the new style is not a tetris style. just a style with a grid. there is really no maneuvering your items to make room for new ones.Posted in: News

Inferno will be a fourth and even harder difficulty that unlocks after beating the game through the Hell difficulty and getting your character to level 60. Designed as an end game objective for players, monsters faced in this difficulty will all be at least level 61. Designed with more HP, damage, resistances, and more aggressive AI, the monsters pose to face players with the most difficult challenge of the game. Along with this, some monsters and bosses will even have extra skills at their disposal that you will only see in Inferno.
The objective of the Inferno difficulty is to give players something to do once capped but would avoid running the same bosses over and over again like the Baal runs of Diablo II. The entire game will plateau in this difficulty meaning that there will be no one particular place that would be best to farm for items. Blizzard is hoping that this will give the players an incentive to repeat the entire content of the game while looking for the best items and not just one section repeatedly. Even if players find a particular area that maximizes results for their efforts, Blizzard said they will add incentives to run through the entire content.
Official Blizzard Quote:
The idea was that we wanted a difficulty mode where the entire game was viable. So you don't have to pick and choose key areas [to replay].
We do expect there to be a certain amount of... runs to get items, but we wanted players to do it over a lot more content. We're trying to make sure that there's a lot more opportunities for players to see a lot more variety.
With end game finally revealed, and Beta beginning in a "little while" what else could gamescom hold in store for Diablo III. Stay tuned on Saturday when Diablo's two performances and interview are being held for some more possible news.
There was also 14 new screen shots that were shown as well that you can find on our wiki.
You can also check out force's video covering this news as well.
Official Blizzard Quote:
As a side note, any rumors you may have heard about a gate to Diablo’s Burning Hells opening in Cologne are completely unfounded. Seriously, nothing is happening at Rudolfplatz from the evening of August 16 — especially nothing to do with demonic invasions.
A special thanks to Lorgarn for sharing the pictures and evilenginen9 for informing on the Inferno news and hicksology for starting the discussion on the topic.

Official Blizzard Quote:
You sit at your typewriter, hands frozen in fear by the sound of crumpling paper from the darkness behind you. Shadows of broken quills encroach on your sight's periphery but slither out of view when you turn toward them. Summoning your courage, you lash out at the apparitions before they fade, only to awaken in a cold sweat with pencils and pens gripped tight in your clenched fists. You know what this dream foretells: the 2011 Global Writing Contest is upon us!
That's right everybody. It is time again for Blizzard's Global Writing Contest. This year, the lucky winner will get a chance to go to Blizzard's HQ and dine with the team's writers. Not to mention, you get almost every book they have written and signed by the authors. Short stories (2,500 - 7,500 words) of any of their franchises are eligible, although we here would especially like to see a Diablo winner. So, get your pen and paper out (or keyboard) and start writing. Submissions are due by October 15th.
If you would like to submit your work for peer reviews and critiques, please feel free to post your stories in the Fan Fiction section.
For those of you who don't like to write, Blizzard is still taking submissions for their art contest as well.

Let's take real life as an example. In real life, I am a restaurant manager. This is my role. However, next week I could get a new job and change my role. Not permanent.
Ok, now a story. I have a character that is a thief. However, after one day realizing the effect is stealing has on his victims he changes his morals and becomes policeman.
Now for q video game. I play a summon wd. Zombie dogs are out and fighting when another poison wd comes along and I like his poison skills so I switch. I'm still my same wd. The role does not have to be permanent.
Again, this is all assuming that you do switch. My personal opinion is that even though every skill is accessible, people will still choose their main six and use them for 75% of the game.
As for the min/max thing, the open skills actually allows people to just play how they want to without worrying about min/maxing. You can play however you want, if you get stuck, find another skill build that works. No need to sit and plan out forever. So, I'm kind of confused on why you think this makes the open skills bad?
What it all comes down to is people who want to switch can. Those who want to be strict on themselves cannot switch as well. Really, the people who are upset about this are really just trying to press their own playstyle on everyone else. Why not leave it open so both groups can be happy.

I will counter argue with two points.
The first is that there is still character building. The only difference is that you do not have to plan out your whole build before you even start your character. Having to do so before hand is very unfriendly for new comers. They don't know what they will and will not need. Instead, what D3 has done is let you build your character while playing. This is much more user friendly and forgiving if you mess up. You won't have to restart your whole character because of one bad choice. In my opinion, getting to build your character while playing is much more fun than sitting in front of a wiki for hours planning it out on paper.
I do understand that some people like to pre-plan. To this, I say that this also helps with character building. I know I want a summon wd. I'm going to look forward to those levels that unlock the spells I planned to use for this build. Again I am building the character while I play even with pre-planning.
As for the runes, I think you might be underestimating the strategy and build forming these will be. With each runestone having a different effect on each skill, you cannot just transfer a rank 7 alabaster rune from one skill to another because it's effect may not work with the build and playstyle you have planned. Blizzard is also looking into locking runestones into a particular skill meaning you have to plan and build your character with specific spells to rune even though you have every spell available.

As for the no skill points ruining build. All I can say is you are not looking at the system/game as a whole and what effect it is actually having. Builds will still exist. People will still focus on certain skills despite being able to swap them. Investment in runes is really taking over skill points in the aspect that you are looking it at. If you can give me a more thorough reason on how it destroys character building I would love to discuss it.

The problem is that we do not want to fill our podcasts with QQ'ing. We give logical reasoning to why we have our opinions for or against everything. Most arguments against the changes Blizzard has made is mostly people just QQ'ing with no real logic or reasoning for their opinion against the change other than being against change.
If you can come up with logical and reasonable debates against the changes, please let us know them and we will discuss them.
