I see, they do seem to have changed some models too, it all does looks rather hopeful. It will certainly be interesting to see where things go. I cant help but wonder that maybe Blizz knew this would happen and probably were going to change it anyway but knew the dodgy graphics would be a fantastic scapegoat to distract from their other changes. Sort of go overboard in one direction and then come back to a happy medium that makes everybody think they have got what they want =p

I mean I have to assume their employees visited these forums from time to time before it was announced and may have been entertained by all the speculation, in which case it would have been hard to miss all the people saying "oh god I hope they dont make it look like WoW".

They also changed the textures to a more subdued and realistic theme. However paralleluniverse is correct that these are just texture changes, such an overhaul for D3 would not fix stupidly unrealistic armor or smiling statues etc.

Yep, truly revolting stuff, especially mcdonalds, the smell is enough to make me feel slightly ill.

Where is Subway? I don't go there often but I wont even walk inside the other places out of choice let alone buy food there whereas I actually eat at Subway sometimes.

I'll work on a video immediately when it comes out, but here.

    Right click on your desktop.

    PROPERTIES
    -Settings
(towards the bottom right you should see a bar of colors. Click the button...
"ADVANCED" beneath it. This should bring up a larger box with a series of tabs at the top.
One of these tabs should be "COLOR."

    Click it.

There should be three dials, one for...
    GAMMA
    BRIGHTNESS
    CONTRAST

Above these, or near them there should be a series of check-mark boxes - one with "all colors, "red, "green, "blue."

Take off All Colors. Select Blue or Red, but not green.

Mess with the Gamma, Brightness and Contrast till you have a dark ratio of color.

I'll eventually find the specific numbers needed to remove the green hue when it ships. -_-

Also, you should be able to save it so you can load it each time before you play.

Not this again, please it just wont work, so after you have done this and you walk outside, whoops everything looks like a total mess. The changes needed are more than brightness, contrast and color balance.

I guess... but what about those people that want to start the Diablo series with D3? There is a big chunk. Even WoW players or simply people that are just now getting interested in the game scene.

It shouldn't just be about old fans. It should be about anyone who wants to play.

(no I'm not new, I've played Diablo for many many years.)

You wouldn't have a vote for which food is better for you, icecream and lollies or a 3 course meal in a kindergarten, I don't want the way Diablo looks to be in any way decided by the WoW fan base. A larger percentage of those attracted to shiny objects would vote than of a normal crowd of gamers.

That shouldn't matter at all... the poll should be for new players and old players alike...

If it was going to be anywhere else but the main Blizzard site I would agree, but if they put such a poll on the main site then inevitably a large portion of WoW players some of who may have no intention of ever playing the game are going to be voting where they wouldn't have bothered if the poll was elsewhere. owning a battlenet account however would be a fair enough solution to that.

the code cannot be copied and pasted, its a tried method that is secure to a point, it can be bypassed but there will be admins.

on another note, does anyone know any blizzard contacts, an official petition might silience the qualms rather quickly.

I doubt it, maybe if you could only vote on the poll with a b-net account or valid D2 serial. Otherwise mountains of WoW loving kiddies would vote that they love the fairytale graphics and everyone who dislikes the graphics would know this and be decidedly unhappy about it. Hence the arguments would rage on.

Wouldn't worry about people like fatality, probably only responding because he knows he falls into the category I mentioned earlier that is so prevalent on the official site! I don't think the site is mocking anyone, just reporting the news (if a bit late), its great people are still covering the issue and bringing it up.

You do realize that this is by far not the only site where people are unhappy with the graphics direction..? Can you actually point to anywhere where they have specifically mentioned this site? The people unhappy on the Blizzard forums have been kept a bit quieter seemingly by all the immature WoW kiddies who come screaming in with insults and personal attacks over there but apart from that there are unhappy people everywhere.

Hot damn, what an eyesore, glad they changed it. Those images give me hope!

Yes but that was simply what games were like back then, listening to it now it does sound a bit silly, but back when it was released I remember watching it over and over thinking how amazing it looked and how awesome the music was! (still like the music though) The narration wasn't the point however, back then they were aiming for a grim world with the orcs and goblins being an evil force that had to be fought back, even if the in-game graphics were sort of lumpy. That obviously completely changed.

Heh yes, clearly if it had been a "master" plan it would have been thought out more thoroughly is what I think your getting at.
