Wish people would stop calling those who like a more grim realistic world "emo's". I hate "emo's" just as much I hate pansy high fantasy WoW stuff. I just want Diablo to be a sequel sigh.

Hmm, While D3 doesn't exactly look much like a "Diablo" game at the moment I think I would be as equally unhappy if it looked like that to be honest, but each to his own.

Wow bosses are pretty mature, haven't seen many <15 year old wow players beating the hardest bosses in there, at least none of the guilds I've been have even had any. Mostly 18+ some few 16-18 yold.

Get a 25 12 year old to beat some raid dungeon in Wow, I'd like to see that.

That siege engine already had a lot more moves than any of the bosses in D2 and was a lot cooler than any. So I think they are going to right way, didn't really look like childish monster to me ripping heads off and stuff.

That is very true, aside from the boss feeling just a bit TOO big, it was an awesome boss fight, much better than D2. I suppose I just got a bit mortified at the mention of Zelda and then watching that video that palisade linked to, I cringe to think something like that could be an "inspiration" to a Diablo game, but if they are just taking vague ideas and leaving out the sillyness then thats great, and as you said they seem to be doing that so far.

Would be nice if they could at least pretend they weren't taking inspiration from children's games, I mean common, WoW and ZELDA???? ugh, surely they could have picked some boss fights from more mature games.

Some interesting stuff in there, but also some depressing bits.

they already mention in the official site about the reanimation process of the skeletons.

saves them the trouble to explain how a skeleton was summoned without a corpse around.

how crappy would it look to leap/smash them (after their death) and remain as if they arent there?
I dont mind how it is and their explanation is pretty good to me. Grass isnt the same, you cant throw it off cliffs and it cant move around as corpses can.
cry more because apparently you cant do anything else.

It would look less crappy than having them fade after a few seconds, thats for sure! Knocking ragdols around was "exciting" many years ago now, why should immersion and theme be kicked out so a barbarians hammer can always magically toss the bodies around. =/

At least the characters can see over the top of the shoulder pads and move their head in those shots.

I'm not sure about you...but I find it MUCH easier to carry weight on my shoulders than in my arms...

Why else would the firemans carry be used to rescue people from a burning building?

Oh yeah, thats right, because its EASIER to carry weight on your shoulders than in your arms...

Arbedark, I don't know what your trying to argue, but no matter what you can't possibly claim that armor on that barbarian would be practical, usable or realistic. It's fine if you like the armor looking like that, but don't even try to argue that it is a plausible "armor" design.

TQ didn't have mountains upon mountains of enemies though, if every single one of corpses remained in the trailer it probably would have slowed, though I am sure they can do better than the current set up. At least have set number stick around and not all disappear.

Jordan that armor looks positively great compared to D3, and looks like it could feasibly protect him rather than block his field of vision, destroy his center of balance and hinder his arm movement. The armor shape also makes him more imposing due to a more masculine shape (wide shoulders, triangular torso) instead of giving the silhouette of a hunch backed blob.

As for the topic, that would be pretty cool if it was the case, capes and such would be awesome, and it would be even better it made wearing shoulder pads pretty much optional.

posted a message on Size DOES matter
I was wondering the same, I hope they don't take it too far, I mean they pretty much have to make him bigger but I think the seigebreaker is already getting to the point that it looks silly because your the size of an ant. I don't want to fight diablo and feel like the most I could be doing with my sword would be picking the grit from under his toenails.

    Quote from "ChaosReigns" »
Uh, look more closely. Those look more like mutants or possessed cultists than virgins. You can see them more clearly in the screens.

I don't think anyone's saying that the game is going to be cuddly, it's just that the new Fallen Shaman really does look much too friendly and whimsical to be a demon.

Oh, and I actually quite like the new art direction, just for the record (although it could be a bit more gothic).

The screen shots are from a different build, the video clearly shows robed females. (download the high def if you haven't already)

posted a message on Maps in D3?
I noticed this and I doubt they would do the maps like that in the actual game, it would completely ruin the game for me. Although another thing I did notice was that there seems to be no indication that there are multiple levels, I will also be sorely disappointed if you cant venture deeper underground. The reason I think this might be something to be concerned about is due to the environment around the player it seems there can't be anything further down or above just due to the way the 3d geometry is laid out.

Interesting read, if this looks like it will stay open I will respond to some of those points. I commend you for looking at things logically and even pointing out some of silly things that get repeated from people who like the artistic style as well as those who don't.

posted a message on anyone annoyed with the little floating numbers?
    Quote from "Ferret" »
The calculations are still the same though, it doesn't change anything about the gameplay mechanics, in fact, D2 is based on nothing but numbers. You now have a numerical insight to the damage output though, something that visually lets you know what just happened. Having one thing doesn't mean the other won't be included, in other words, I'll be damned if we don't hear the hitting and blocking of attacks like we have up until now.

Just because you have floating numbers doesn't mean you have to know about your enemie's precise health either, it servers as an indicator of your efficiency in current situations, nothing more and nothing less.

But surely if you don't know their health then it is a totally useless indicator, its a number, but what use is a single number without being able to compare it to others. Do the numbers really help you and do you really need the information, I would say no, so why are they there cluttering up the screen?
