I would be happy to have 2 options to chose from when playing the game.

    1. Darker scheme to play with.
    2. And what Blizzard has shown currently at the WWI

More people will be happy this way.

Yea, and this would also make it so they would kinda have to remake areas, causing the game to take longer to come out and therefore no ones happy.

Honesly guys, you can't really compare the D1 environment to D3's. D1 took place almost entirely in a dungeon. If you want the outdoors of a game to look the same as a game that takes place in a completely sealed off tunnel, you need to rethink your argument.

Great thread, I really hope blizzard addresses our concerns in some way. And as for the poll, definitely too cartoony and unrealistic. Simply making it darker will still leave disproportional environments and objects.

Disproportional? The Barbarian is supposed to be like 8 feet tall, keep that in mind when you say disproportional.

Yea guys lets make it so that areas that are supposed to be light simply don't exist and all we see is dark environments and don't get bored with it at all, and have nothing to contrast actually dark places with. Sounds reasonable to me!

I can't stand those before/after screenshots, I mean really, do you want them to make the beginning that dark? Where do you expect them to go when we get to a place thats actually supposed to be dark? Pitch black?

Furthermore, I don't think its really how it looks (obviously it should still feel evil and dark) but mainly, like Veltras said, what happens. Sure it might look a bit cartoony (I personally dont think it is, as 1. I wouldn't be able to run it if they made it too realistic and 2. Its damn hard to make it much more realistic than that...) but if that supposedly cartoony guy gets bit in half by a Living Siege Engine of Hell, thats pretty damn Diablo-like. Thats what impressed me the most about the gameplay video, sure it wasnt as dark as the other Diablos, but it looked well done and good, and the blood splatters and things like holes in the ground where the barbarian leaps or smashes really made it feel awesome.

I personally think it needs a tad more of a gothic-feel but I definetly don't want them to simply make everything darker and grayer in order to achieve that effect. They have much more technology open to them than in the previous Diablo games, and they should use this to make the enviornment interesting as opposed to grayed out but at the same time evil. Personally, I'm reserving judgement until I see a place that is supposed to be corrupted and evil, and see how they handle that. I don't mind the colors and brightness as I simply see an oppurtunity to mess it all up and give us a view of just how a place gets corrupted. Even after they show us an evil area, I'm still going to have to wait until I play it and see how it feels. Atm I'm just excited because the game is coming out and the graphics themselves look great and detailed, so they will be able to apply the same detail etc to a truly evil place, and I'm confident the effect will be epic.

To all the people who are "worried" that their inventories wont look as cool, go to the part where the barb gets all the Gothic armor, and pause the video when it shows the inventory. They are still putting in cool looking item icons, don't worry. The only ones that look kinda bland are the weapons, but at the same time they still look like the weapon does when its equipped. Just because the inventory is like WoW doesn't mean that this game is going to be WoW 2.0.

Something else I noticed in the screenshots that is a slight annoyance to me is how that there is a buff icon in the lower left hand corner of the screen... does anyone else find this to be a bit odd of a placement? I figured upper right would be better

Upper right would interfere with the minimap, upper left would interfere with your party/minions and its not like its that detailed of a buff bar, doesn't have durations or anything, so it doesn't have to be in your focus all the time.

I just noticed Diablo appears to have 3 mouths and eyes (one of the latter which looks like his soulstone more) in the cinematic and the artwork...could it be that the 3 prime devils merged into Diablo's body?

Yea I'm thinking more along the lines of those being his shoulders as they don't seem to have eyes. It may or may not be Diablo, they have said that they don't want to reveal whether or not Diablo is in-game (its obviously assumed he will be) but I did notice that the demon had some kind of scar in his head, though it may just be a marking.

Theres still a need for bags as the inventory space you start off with is pretty small but you can make it bigger through bags. Its not like we suddenly have a mega-inventory, just one that, as I said before, doesn't cause choppy gameplay through going back and forth through town ports.

Well the inventory change should be nice, its still not huge so as to outdate the stash and you can just go on like 5 dungeon runs and still have room, but its not so small that you'll have to intterupt your playing time in order to empty your inventory.

When did they say that? I just assumed barbs had low amounts of mana (obviously) and the mana/health regen they seem to have added was enough to quickly regen the mana.

Yea I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that they'll follow the same formula as D2, easy at first and just mass slaughter, and it gets pretty damn hard pretty quickly later in the game. As its been said before, the only reason monsters were getting 1-shot and everything in the video was because that was the beginning area and the characters had high levels (as seen from having like all the skills) and gear that you wouldn't get till much later in the game.

This is part of the game, you need to choose what you need because it's not a world where people have infinite space and can store items in banks.

I don't mind this side of it, what I do mind is the fact that after slaughtering a horde of demons i have to take a break because my character is overburdened. Sure it might be unrealistic and it will definetly change the game, but in the end it interfered with the gameplay, which was intense and non-stop....but had to be put on hold because of an inventory flaw.
