As I've said in so many words, most Diablo, Warcraft, and Starcraft fans are interchangeable in games. So I don't even think Blizzard needs to think about which games would be the most popular at the time, they only need to know that their games are popular, period.
What I've wondered is that surely by now they're so big, there would be a Blizzard North, East, South, West, all developing these different games. Or at least a North and South making Starcraft and Diablo.

Apr 29, 2007Siaynoq posted a message on Blizzard Confirms New Product Next Month!Hmm, I never even considered it would be a new franchise. If that's the case, I wonder if it would be a magic/fantasy game or sciency spacey game. Or something more akin to a regular Earth setting placed in our current timeline.Posted in: News

The time is so ripe for Diablo. I'm putting my money on it. -
Apr 27, 2007Siaynoq posted a message on Blizzard Confirms New Product Next Month! This is great news. And even if it ends up not being Diablo 3, I still believe it is inevitable anyway, so I'll celebrate a Starcraft 2 just the same.Posted in: News

Feb 20, 2007Siaynoq posted a message on The Final Diablo 3 is Coming argument"The only argument I disagree with is that they say "Diablo 3 is a license to print money". Unless you've been under a very large rock the past year, Blizzard already has a license to print money, it's called World of Warcraft and it pulls in almost as much cash in a month as Diablo 2 has pulled in overall. The only question now is, is it worth it to sacrifice programmer power for a game that is going to generate more publicity than revenue? I imagine Blizzard has discussed the possibility of making Diablo 3 a MMO considering the success of their last shot at it."Posted in: News
I read this comment from that page and I disagree with what this person is saying. Does Blizzard necessarily need to sacrifice programming power to make another Diablo game? Isn't that what Blizzard North was founded for? I'm not sure however how I feel about Diablo being an MMO. I actually feel like you're sacrificing some quality in graphics and in-depth content to make an MMO that is designed to appeal to a wide mainstream audience. -
Oct 10, 2006Siaynoq posted a message on "Official" Diablo 3 PetitionPosted in: NewsQuote from "AcidReign" »I read that there was a petition for Peter Jackson to direct The Hobbit movie. They had 40,000 votes, and New Line Cinema was looking into it now. Hah!
Even then, I doubt a poll of 40,000 votes had any real impact. I'm sure any decision to make the Hobbit would be mostly based on the success of the LOTR trilogy in theaters and DVD sales, merchandise, etc. They know the fanbase already exists, and not just the hardcore fans either. -
Oct 9, 2006Siaynoq posted a message on "Official" Diablo 3 PetitionYes, while I'm sure a petition doesn't make a huge impact one way or another, I still believe that the people at Blizzard are interested in what fans are thinking about these games. I've noticed a lot of people are cynical about polls, but if it none of it helps, none of it certainly hurts either.Posted in: News

Not against other country relationships? I don't believe it is. I think there are several people from several countries who participate in this forum.

I don't feel I need to hope too much for D3 cause I feel in my heart that eventually they will make it.
Yes, obviously I would really like to play Halo 3 and I also look forward to Shivering Isles for Oblivion.

-with the worldstone gone demons are more free to enter the world of sanctuary, this is how more powerful demon lords (act bosses of sorts) can come through
This is the biggest issue with Diablo that escapes me. I was always so positive that the purpose of destroying the Worldstone was to prevent both demons and angels from interferring with Sanctuary again. While I know everyone insists that was not the case, I just don't understand why he would do it if it meant demons could enter more easily. Yes, Baal corrupted it, but he was also destroyed...so I didn't see what the problem was.
-as both demons and angels can enter the others realm, I think more demons and angels should be present at the gates to each area, they are suppose to be lock in eternal combat, yet only one angel was in hell possibly fighting demons on their own turf
-the last two lesser evil Belial Lord of Lies and Azmodan Lord of Sin elude us still
I was always intrigued by these other lesser evils that you didn't hear as much about. Not only these two, but I'm reminded of Kabraxis from The Black Road; I don't think Blizzard would be shy about simply creating new demons and contriving some story for them to put in a new game. But I'll give their story developers credit for whatever device they use as not being contrived.
-the eternal battle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells is still raging
Yes, and I suppose without this key element in the story, there probably would be nothing more to base the game on. So it might be interesting even if they continued this story but instead of Sanctuary, have it on a new front, maybe a different world created by a renegade angel or even another dimension. But I suppose you'd want something more like a world for some sense of normality.
-the prime evils returning (or just diablo) without their soulstones as they arent needed for the prime evils to exist
To be honest, this concept kind of saddens me, but just because I thought they had good reason to bring Diablo back in the second game, but I'd hate to think of having to fight Diablo a third time. Otherwise, I'd just feel like what's the point of killing him if he can't stay dead.
-something about Tyrael, is he corrupted? (Kinda been done before, a lot) is he banished from heaven? It may just be me but arent angels forbidden from major influences on mankind or something like that, I forget what it says in the text regards the lore of angels in diablo
It would definitely be interesting to if perhaps you could fight an angel in Diablo. Talking about a corrupted arch angel makes me think of how cool it might be if you played campaigns in Diablo just like you would in Warcraft and Starcraft.
-Of course if tyrael is corrupted shouldn’t at least one of the seven player chars from d2 also be corrupted, they spent more time in the vicinity of the corrupted worldstone than tyrael did, and im not counting nightmare and hell, unless tyrael is corrupted thru having shards of the worldstone enter his body when he smashed it.
Hmm, it is interesting to consider the power of the soulstones in regards to humans. Since the wanderer became one with the soulstone and then became Diablo. But would you maybe suggest that since Baal's touch corrupted the Worldstone, that all those little shards that exploded each contained his essence (or whatever you'd call it, his soul, I suppose)?
-tie up any loose ends from the diablo series not that I can think of any right now but there is probably a few, mostly to do with tyrael I believe
The most I've ever pictured Tyrael doing after the Worldstone explosion was somehow forfeiting his power and maybe choosing a mortal existence until he could die or something. It seems like there could be other maverick angels like him that could take his place in furture storylines.
-the angel inarius, he could perhaps be set free from his prison of mirrors to seek revenge on the prime evils or something
Was it in the Diablo 2 manual that discusses his final fate? I can't remember exactly but I wish to learn more about it. I finished the Sin War book last month and it definitly seemed like Inarius could play a significant role in a future game.
-tie in with the diablo novels some how
-something with Deckard cain is he still alive, he is getting old, but for some people it would feel like diablo without him.
I wasn't sure exactly what you meant by this.
-some mention of the heroes of d2/d2lod, perhaps you could find part of there armor of course the set would have a name like Unknown Barbarian heroes…. or something
I think at the most have unique or set items from the heroes of D2. But since Diablo is mostly plot driven and not character driven, it's hard to imagine much more referencing to them than that. With the exception of one hero perhaps, since I guess in D3, there will be an official hero according to the story that killed Baal in the end. You know, just like how it was the Warrior who killed Diablo in the first one. I'm rooting for either the Assassin or Necromancer.
-you could find out that cain is not the last of the horadrim, there is another, most likely an evil mage or sorts, you kill him then inform cain he once again is the last of the horadrim, cain has a wet eye.
I always sensed that the Horadrim were more like warrior bards and secret agents combined but didn't employ much magic and instead would temporarily ally themselves with powerful mages during specific campaigns, such as the original imprisonment of Baal. I don't know why, but it's more fun for me to think of them merely as a very effective and secretive enforcement agency that uses means other than magic. This has just been my own take on them, however. I'm sure they used lots of magic according to the official story.
-if a playable char returns in d3 like the chars from d1 did in d2, have more of a storyline for them, not just the ‘oh xchar is now a monster I have to kill’
Yeah, I agree with this. Since you invest so much time and effort in your character, ya kind of wish that your class had something more to do with the story as opposed to an NPC merely saying, "Oh, you're a Necromancer, aren't you..."
-several powerful demons that have been defeated in the previous games could make a return thru some kind of resurrection/summoning spell, similar to the one Baal used to bring the warlord of blood (bartuc the bloody) back to life
Hehe, I'd like to see that goat man from the first Diablo (Gharbad the Weak?) who begs you not to kill him, then when you keep revisiting him, he tries to kill you and your character says something like, "I'm not impressed."
-A civil war could break out in Hell, between Belial and Azmodan as they both vie for Ruler of Hell
Yeah, that definitely seems like the natural course of things. That they'd fight amongst each other. I wonder how that might apply to the game, however. Cause you know, if they're fighting in hell, might as well let them.
-If D3 is a prequel, you should be able to be involved in the Binding of the three, or the Sin War, or any other event in the diablo History, such as the Blackening of King Leoric (well maybe not that one thats a little recent compared to the Binding of the three and the Sin War)
Absolutely. Imagine being a Horadrim character, being on the quest to imprison the Three in their Soulstones. And perhaps it wouldn't be all straightforward killing, but also making contacts, acquiring information, more exploring and puzzle solving kind of like something from Oblivion.
-D3 could be set a short while after the events of LOD and Hell has taken over and you must try to reclaim the World of Sanctuary and possibly Heaven.
Reclaim Heaven? Are you saying that by this time, Heaven was lost to the Burning Hells? Cause that's another thing I'm confused about.

Surely other people have said far less constructive things than I in my first post in this thread.
And honestly how can we not assert our opinions to some degree. As long as you explain why you are saying something. This is the internet. Are all of you really going to pass off what you say as undisputed fact? Or will you admit that to a point, it's also your opinion?

Perhaps you're referring to me calling Bush a lame duck president. That's hardly an unfair thing to say. It's a common term to refer to a president who is in their second term with relatively less power as when they first began office.

Uh, laundry on their heads? Wow, your credibility is through the roof!
Seriously though, Bush right now is about as lame duck as you can get. With both houses of Congress in Democrat control, an approval rating as low as Nixon's, and even most of his die hard Republican supporters turning on him, there is little left Bush can do during the rest of his presidency. Issues about Iraq aside, it's likely he'll attempt to salvage some kind of legacy by supporting neutral to popular legislation brought on by the Democrats.
As far as the Iraq war, it doesn't seem he's gonna get his 20,000 troop surge. Nor is Bush willing to talk with Syria or Iran about helping stabilize the region. But sure enough, one thing the U.S. has always feared is another Iran. And with the Shia dominiated government in Iraq, and Maliki reluctant to disband his Shia militias, you can't help but wonder if another Iran is exactly what's brewing in Iraq. Quite the mess, really.

As I was playing it with my friend, it occurred to me, how did I play this by typing messages to my friends. I was playing it last night with Messenger live and it's so much more fun that way.
Anyway, it was hella fun If anyone would like to download my map, just for the heck of it, send me a message and I'll email it to you.

And does anyone else get the chills when the Worldstone is shattering? The way the music is and the camera moves around it, it's a rather amazing scene.
I hope if they did make a Warcraft or Diablo movie, that Matt Uelman would be hired to do the score for it. What he did for Diablo 2's fifth act was give it this mood that seemed so appropriate for either being in the snow or in some ice cave.
And the track for the Worldstone Chamber, I don't know, if makes you feel like this particular era really has ended and that everything is going to chance.

How is Gears of War, anyway? I saw a trailer for it and it looked kind of intriguing.
