at what point where those skilled assigned to other classes?
Diablo never mixed class skills among the other classes.
was Bone spirit in Diablo I? that does not sound right.
if i see a Ranger that has mainly skills from Amazon and Sorceress skills that is what i call a remix and rehash of existing classes.
i expect a Ranger might for example have melee skills with daggers and light swords, and a nature summon as a familiar pet (giant wolf, growling bear, soaring eagle), and survival skills including resistance of the elements, increase life, battle prowess.
battle prowess being a skill that grants increased defense and an automatic blink out-of-danger if there is a mortal strike (wound that can kill the player).
this is the kind of NEW CONCEPT and NEW CLASS expectation i have from Blizzard in Diablo 3.
actually, yes, the Bone Spirit was in Diablo 1. It was one of the rarest skill books to drop and frankly, wasn't very useful of a spell because if memory served, it only halved a monster's HP but could never kill it. Also, because there was alot of magic resist in all monsters, it pretty much did nothing to them, especially to boss monsters (Lazerous, Diablo, the Butcher, etc). That and it couldn't target Player Characters in PvP same as with the Apocolypse spell (thank God that didn't come back into Diablo 2 lol)
Kotaku cornered Jay Wilson for a short interview where finally the cat is out of the bag. The Barbarian is the only class that is returning in Diablo 3. The Necromancer is completely out of the equation according to Wilson because it was a flawless class. It has no room for improvement beyond what it already is.
Regardless, that doesn't mean we won't see Necromancers as NPCs. This is not official through the interview, but the city of Ureh is within Necromancer territory, thus inevitable not to see Necromancer NPCs. Richard A. Knaak told me a few days ago "Ureh is an integral part of the game." Two years ago, Knaak also told us during the public Q&A that Blizzard had very special plans for Zayl the Necromancer.
YAY! This actually makes me a little happy. Granted, there's going to be "new" characters filling in the same old archetypes of "archer" and "spellcaster," I still was kinda hoping for this outcome. If they weren't going to bring back all the old characters (which woulda been kinda unoriginal) I would have wanted all new characters. Honestly, I wish the Barb went the way of the doodoo and they brought in a better pure melee character but eh, I'll live with it. I always liked the Warrior better than the Barb, mainly cuz the Barb really kinda sucked. Ya it's cool to use whirlwind the first 80 times but after that, it gets a wee bit annoying. Spin spin spin...cant do anything till I finish spinning...spin spin...heal up and repeat! Fun eh?
Just be patient and wait for blizzard to say how it'll be set up. No one here knows anything about this.
If you want a guess, it will be in gradients where you can choose low, medium, and high because the game is no longer 2D but instead 3D. But again, useless question because no one here (or anywhere for that matter) will know the answer.
I'm guessing they will announce new chars, more of the acts, more gameplay videos, and maybe a playable demo (the least likeliest to happen).
what are you talking about? Re-read what he said and see if anything he said has anything to do or says anything pointing with concrete fact that at Blizzcon there will be a Diablo III Beta Key handed out.
As for new characters and other crap, it'll be announced before blizzcon, at blizzcon, and after blizzcon as well. That is pure given that more info will come out.
And for the guy who bothered arguing about "SC2 first than Diablo 3" who gives a care? He's spinning for attention for Blizzcon. The Beta keys will either be named for a specific game or be generic and unnamed. The topic of the thread was "Diablo 3 beta is coming at Blizzcon" which is false. Not "which game will get a beta first" which we already know will be SC2.
So what your saying is they should allow a space for every character type in a single game!
Theres going to be only five characters with D3, So there will be a max a 5 players a game?
What about when the expansion comes out?
What about the duels PvP?
I also like parties with all my friends (all 58 of them).
And what if they make D3 so hard, that 4-5 simply is not enough!
There are many things to like, and dislike....
Lets start with that..
PRO'S and CON'S
Please give a pro and a con! on your mark get set......GO
well they wouldn't be so stupid as to make the game so hard that an average group of players that have a game filled completely (lets assume 5) can't beat the game =\
rofl just to piss everyone off, they should change it back to the D1 way where you can get hosteled at any time with no warning and get owned. lol also, they should make it where your spells hit players as well as monsters, just like in D1, just to make things interesting
rofl which reminds me, my friend and I hosteled each other when we were mfing cuz we were bored and went into the same area "just to make things interesting"
ya'll should try it it'll make you second guess suiciding for that item lol
BUT....teleport was soooo much fun when PvP-ing on my fire-sorc with like super like fcr. I was like "ZoomZoomZoom! Can't catch me! BOOM YOUR DIED! ROFL LOLLOL"
ya until I got a lock on you on my zon with guided arrow then it's a race to see if you can chicken to town fast enough or not
"Generally if a goody bag were to contain a beta key, it's nondescript. In the past we've never announced what the key will be used for as we generally don't know for certain ourselves until the time comes to herd them into an upcoming beta. We may use them for one purpose or another, depending on development timelines.
If your interest is in Diablo III, then I would "highly recommend" attending this year's BlizzCon."
he's just spinning to make you think there's a D3 key there without actually saying anything and thus capitalizing on the hype it would generate to draw more people into the event. It might be there, it might not, but you won't get a straight answer. All you know is there will be a beta key and you have a 1 in 3 chance of it being Diablo 3.
ROFLMAO! Whats sad is I've met losers like that in the art world...I'm normally not so brutal as to call anyone a loser...but it's pretty sad to see...
I'm sure most of you don't remember Diablo 1 B.net but 4 people in a game of D1 was just enough. Having 8 people in Diablo 2 was sometimes too much. The hardcore side of me wants them to make it 4 and make the game really hard, but then the other side wants them to boost it to 6 players. But definitely 8 was always too many...
teleporting was overpowerd, people just take enigma and teleporting all over the place. It was bs.
here's the deal: anyone that can't kill a clown in an enigma has no business PvPing. The only character that is really hard to kill that relies on enigma is a Summon Necro because of all the monsters he drags. You can also argue on a Druid that has summoned wolves and Hurricane but those kinds of Druids are so weak I dont even registure them as a threat. All other classes are easy to kill if you know what you are doing.
And before you say anything, no, I dont PvP with a class that requires an enigma. Yes I have a summon necro with an enigma, but I dont PvP with him.
Also, anyone that dies to an enigma hammerdin also has no business PvPing
As for teleporting in general. It belongs to the magic user class. It was in Diablo 1 (though through use of massive magic gear, you could learn it as Warrior and Rogue) and it was in Diablo 2 and it belongs in Diablo 3. If you put a cool down or any sort of "can only use 3 times in a row" you'll just make the skill useless. Bitch to get rid of enigma if you want you're only proving you can't handle a nigma n00b, I dont really care, just leave the skill itself alone and leave it for the Sorcerer if you absolutely must.
You know, I'm feeling generous, how bout we meet in the middle? Make it so then Teleport isn't affected by faster cast rate gear and just be done with it. There balanced, end of story, stop bitching about removing/gimping teleport and enigma already...
Although I'm scathing mad about the new developments I'm hearing about other aspects of this game, I will say I do like the look of "The Wizard."
The name kind of makes you cringe, much like "The Witch Doctor" but as I can now see, Blizzard is pretty much beating multiple dead horses because they're running low on creative ideas
The class looks like an overall improvement over the classic Sorc. I do really like the animation for teleport and the renamed chain lightning. I really like that lightning actually fires like lightning should in that it is very fast moving unlike it was in Diablo 2.
It looks like the Wizard will be a decent class. Hopefully Blizzard can be a wee bit more creative when they announce the Archer/Spear class, and the replacement Paladin class.
Honestly though, "All new classes" doesn't mean you take a preexisting class, rename it, and give it a few new spells to make it "new"
wow...blizzard I congratulate you on taking a great game franchise and now completely sending it down the shit-hole.
I've warmed up to the art direction for the game
I've gone from against your stupid health orbs to be indifferent to them
I've praised you for for the conceptual art, the death animations, the named monsters, the destructable backgrounds, the regular monsters, as well as other areas of the new game
I was gladdened to hear you were looking into improving the inventory system including the stash
I was instantly against the idea of checkpoints and the exclusion of the classic Town Portal
I was initially skeptical about the sudden overblown aspect of skills and their seeming necessity to be absolutely overpowered in order to hold our attention
and now I have you guys go and COMPLETELY turn D3 from a PC title that would help reinvent PC Platform gaming into a piece of shit console port by eliminating the last dregs of RPG element: the stat line. Strength, Dex, Vitality, Energy being completely controllable by the user is an absolute must in a true RPG. This isn't a freaking MMO where everything has to be balanced to a T (which Blizzard failed and continues to fail to do in WoW). If anything, all this does is completely eliminate what made Diablo so good: being able to go and create your own unique build on character classes.
Now every character is going to be the same with a bunch of bullshit overpowered spells because you seem to think we're a bunch of ADD ridden kids who can't be pleased unless we are on the very edge of having a built in God Mode. Why don't you just eliminate dieing as well? That way I can just plow though the game using flashing ADD button mash spells in just a couple of hours
I said months ago: to get Diablo 3 right, they need to make the Stats worth something so then people can do more than put max stats to Vit like in Diablo 2 and make it more like Diablo 1 where stats actually meant something. What I meant by this was PUT SOME FUCKING EFFORT INTO THE GODDAMNED GAME MECHANICS AND NOT COP OUT AND MAKE EVERYTHING AUTOMATIC!!!!! ACTUALLY FIX THE GODDAMN PROBLEM INSTEAD OF PUT A PATCH OVER IT!!!
I thought I would have purchased Diablo 3 no matter what Blizzard managed to do to screw it up but I didn't anticipate that Blizzard would be so fucking mindless as to automate the majority of the game including the character building aspect just to appease the people who can't sit down and take the time to plan out their own stat points. Whoopteedo, I get to choose between putting a point between Spell A and Spell B both of which are equally powerful and do relitively the same thing.
Oh I'm sure the Demo was fun enough to play for a while until a Blizzard rep jabbed you in the kidneys and said, "Back of the line buddy." However from what I've read so far of Diablo 3, it's going the opposite direction of what I want it to be. Yes, I'll be so arrogant as to say I want it a certain way. *Humph* I guess I was right years ago before I ever had a clue D3 was even being made when I said the only way a new Diablo is going to be made is if I do it myself. Well, with the way this game is progressing, it's going to be Diablo 3 in name only.
Unless something happens to change my mind, I'm probably not going to buy this game. As a note, I would have previously bought this game no matter what state of suckage it was in...until I realized there is a certain level of suckage that even I cannot ignore no matter how much I want a Diablo 3
Diablo 1: absolute perfect classic
Diablo 2: a decent game that pails in comparison to the original
I actually don't want a Secret Cow level. Why? Because I want Blizzard to be original for once. They haven't had an original idea since SC (you can't count D2 cuz it's a sequel and WoW is everything but original). "Secret Cow Level." Been there, done that, abused it to no end. I'd like to see something else better that is secret and hard to find not to mention, as the guy said in the interview, something that you can't abuse like the Cow Level was (why even call it secret anymore?). And besides, the Secret Cow Level was a joke from the original Diablo and it's lost meaning cuz there's people today who play Diablo 2 and have never even picked up Diablo 1 and even then, they wouldn't be privy to the "inside joke."
So long as there's no Secret Cow level and for damned sure no Secret Murloc Level, I'll be a happy man (though that doesn't mean I don't want something secret in the game for some comedy relief) Maybe a Secret Zergling Level? ROFLMAO! Or better yet, a secret level completely populated by those exploding suicide guys from Act 5 or something stupid like that.
But please, no re-hashed old ideas....be original Blizzard...
they're doing the same thing in the US, which I also find surprising. I'm interested in the Collector's Edition but no word on that yet. I'd be more than willing to pay extra for the Collector's Edition of Diablo 3. The concept art alone would be worth it.
