What a fucking joke with the hp regen changes. And lol at inv min remove. It's not like ppl have spend hours/days to get stuff under control and now it will just be gone. Another time when you simply feel useless.
Sounds like the new patch is just a major nerf to the game difficulty.
The one buff I was surprised not to see (unless it's implicit) is the buff to the blacksmith crafting.
Right now difficulty is mostly dependent on which class you play. If you play a WD or DH then no amount of gear can make you feel truly comfortable in a3+; you can have the highest defense, regen, and dps but some mobs will still 2 shot you. If your a wizard you can go critical mass build and stunlock them with high defenses from prismatic armor and crystal shell. If you're a melee then you have defenses flying out your ass more than you know what to do with, including a 30% innate reduction, and just need a little bit of regen to keep you at max health all the time. The nerfs make it more about efficiency, especially by grouping to benefit from buffs/debuffs, which allows the underpowered classes to not be so underpowered whether the classes get balanced or not.
It is indeed implied that the buff to ilvl 61 and 62 weapons means that the crafted weapons are included. Crafting weapons that are guaranteed to have 6 props could suddenly go from being a total waste of money to a total cash cow. Ironically it would also keep most of those ilvl 61/62 4-5 prop weapons from being any good still if the market gets flooded with amazing crafted 6 prop ilvl 62 weapons.
I somewhat understand the whole "omg they're making the game too easy" group but I think you guys need to get some perspective on the issue.
When you are properly geared in Inferno, the champion packs HAVE TOO MUCH HEALTH. It takes forever to kill packs in Act 3 before you outgear it. Once you hit a point of gear, Inferno SHOULD be easy. Your character SHOULD feel like a god. That's what made D2 fun (for me at least). D3 was pretty lame because even when you got better gear, you'd kill stuff faster but you wouldn't feel very powerful. I think the HP nerf will help quite a bit with this. Do you really expect the game to remain difficulty after you have end game gear? What does that mean to people that are trying to progress with normal gear?
Simply reducing the HP won't make the game that much easier for people that aren't overgearing the content. Stop crying.
Someone didn't read all of the patch notes. They're also nerfing affixes that are "too hard," and some monster damage.
Personally, I don't have a huge issue with these changes (although I think they may have gone a little heavy on some of them), but you should probably know what the $#&% you're talking about before you tell others to quit crying.
It is actually you who should get the shit together. They are not reducing damage of champion and elite packs, it will affect certain white mobs. L2Read is calling.
The guy you quoted actually hit it head-on. The game is about farming. Farming efficiently. There was no challenge in this game after 2nd week it went live. The progression after 1.0.3 was good from Act1 to Act2 but it was not working well in further acts. Act3 is still way overtuned. Guess what? I have gear to farm Act3 relatively easy but I still did not do it because it was not efficient. When played properly the risk of death was small but it all took way too long. Reducing health on champions/elites is good thing to get Act3 back into farming business.
All in all, Im happy to read what is ahead of us. This blog was good start and 1.0.4 patch is looking good. Fingers crossed Blizzard.
Invulnerable minions affix was broken from the get-go and 1.0.3 "fix" did not help. I could see it being tweaked more instead of removing but the only thing I have to say about it being removed, "Good riddance!"
Reading comprehension is hard, I know. Let me highlight where you've failed.

I said: They're also nerfing affixes that are "too hard," and some monster damage.
To sum it up: they are nerfing champion packs via several affixes that are too strong (fire chains, shielding, minion invuln). They are nerfing the damage on a few specific mobs (to include the axe-dragging jackasses that hit like a truck) - which will affect them as both white and elite mobs.
Your fail, it is strong.
PS: my initial response was a rebuttal to the implication that leveling to 99 was anything other than another fucking grind. It was not "endgame" and the next person to use that word in any sort of connection with Diablo 2 or 3 will be told to die in a fire.
This is a god damn hack and slash gear grinding game. Nothing else. If you want more, go play something else. Period.
Oh well, guess 1.0.4 will be my exit then. The game has no endgame. How do they solve this? By making it even easier to get to end game. This way even more people will be bored with Diablo. Thanks for the ride, it almost lasted 12 years like its predecessor.
The game is not hard, just frustrate for most of us. you should require the best of the best gears to beat the game.
How you going to kill something if it has nightmare, waller or other jailer mod, and arcane. perm fire aura that don't goes away.
This is what I was expecting. A nice overview of things to come; it's the post that I've been hoping for for weeks. I know details are coming but I, like many others I'm sure, was looking to see WHAT exactly Blizzard was thinking to adjust their game. I can't really jump to a conclusion other than that it's nice to get a glimpse into their philosophy and approach to the changes. They clearly have been listening.
I like the phrasing on champ packs. DPS checks don't work when they are completely random in their creation and location. I'm glad that invuln is coming out of the game, with such a 'frenetic' combat system, trying to target a mob out of 5 was more annoying than a test of skill.
Until we see the nitty gritty I don't think we can jump to conclusion on how it will affect most aspects of the game (unless affixes are nerfed, which may not happen).
Not sure about the repair cost reduction, at first I was against it but came around knowing that gold needs to be taken out of this economy in any way possible.
Rather upsetting changes, I feel like I am playing WoW with all these nerfs I can't be the only one who thinks this game is in a really good spot. Oh well
Yeah no kidding. And it's disgusting how Blizzard always dumbs down their games for the garbage casual players because that's what this is always about and nothing else. It started with WOTLK and just goes on and on. It's like all they think that plays their games is garbage casual players.
Pre launch: "You are going to die, we double the difficulty of inferno" Few _weeks_ after launch: Meh, to hard. Kids cant do it. 40% NERF HOOOOOOO 1.0.4: We have made the game lol easy but then we DOUBLED the nerfs.
IDIOTS.. you had one chance to fix it and you remove all challange and makes it a kid game. There will be nothing to do.. Kids farming good stuff and trying to become millionairs of RMAH
...
All you involved with diablo 3 should be fired INSTANTLY. Idiots, incompetant idiots. Go home, rethink your life and never ever touch a game development again.
I had hopes that 1.0.4 would rly be the thing that brought d3 back to me. It wont be. Im out.
Thank God.... you hardcores ruined D3 for me so badly. D2 was amazing, D3 was slamming your head against the wall until it busted open... (your head, not the wall). One of my most anticipating games ever and it was completely ruined due to people with no lives crying. I don't think i've ever been so angry with the hardcore community, especially as they cried even more claiming it was still to easy. Clearly they will never be satisfied as they will cry when something is to hard for them to beat (like what happened with Yogg+0 in WoW where the hardcore community literally gave up and cried to blizzard about it being to hard), and than they will cry whenever they beat it claiming it was to easy.
Whoa whoa whoa, don't blatently brush everyone as a 'hardcore' because they want a challenge. Every true hardcore was just as pissed as any casual about this game. This game ISN'T hard and outside of 2 boss fights, wasn't hard at all. It was all about the gear. We call that a "false difficulty". You simply needed the numbers to beat things since there was little to no strategy. Personally as a 'hardcore' I was extremely dissapointed with this game. So many flaws, it felt like a beta. These 1.04 changes are necessary. I don't like that it's going to get easier but at least I benefit from it. My 225k DPS DH is gonna slaughter shit.
As for your comment about the Ulduar QQ, that shit was glorious. You seem to have forgotten that there was a lot of QQ and then a guild BEAT it with their theorycrafting and near perfect execution. The hardcore community didn't give up, it was killed.
What nerfs are you talking about? As far as I can see, there are no real nerfs discussed.
We’re removing Enrage Timers and the “heal back to full” behavior from Champion and Rare monster packs.
That's an incredibly huge nerf to the difficulty of the game. I haven't played as heavily as a lot of people, have only just completed Act 1 Inferno, don't have great gear. And I can tell you that this one single change will flip the switch from the game being randomly impossible to being always possible.

lol a blizzard game always being impossible with their casuals? I doubt that highly, lol.

The word "randomly" and the word "always" do not actually mean the same thing.

Well unless it was sarcasm that then maybe unless those words have new meanings in the English dictionary now a days, lol.
Overall changes are welcome, but. We need that endgame. I doesnt require much to beat the game. If you have a bit of a skill, you dont even have to use AH that much. After the patch I´m afraid that this game will be too easy. Just have to wait and see.
lol yeah that would be a first for a blizzard game and it's garbage casuals. Between dumbing down to infant mode and kung fu panda's I wonder why wow lost 3 million people... Mind boggling, lucky they continue the same forumla that is sure to work..

Shielding - just put a max absorb on that shield so it can be broken. Infinite immunity for 5-6 seconds is retarded.
Invuln minions gone is good. Health link is essentially the same thing anyways.

I still worry about endgame though... sure, they're fixing a lot of the systems, but there needs to be more thought about an endgame solution.
I'm still happy though. It's a step in the right direction.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
