So I work from home and sit for at LEAST 8-12 hrs a day. I need to find a chair that is comfy as hell and does not feel like I am sitting on a board. I am 230 lbs, so not small, so I would rather something coushy vs ergonomical like mesh chairs and lumbar support. I have had a few rad ideas on making my own out of a nice car seat chair video like the one in that video...but I want a nice leather one. I have looking high and dry and know that most $100 chairs are not ideal for over 4hrs. So, I am asking you guys to either post info, your chair, or just give me so advice on what to do really. My ass is calling out in pain! The only thing, is i sometimes sit with my leg tucked under my other leg, so bungee chairs might not work as my foot would slip through. thanks dudes and dudettes
I am also looking for a nice comfortable chair with an absolute maximum price of $100. What I can help you with though is a word of advice. If you happen to buy a "president chair", you know, the leather office chairs that have high backs and such, be very mindful.
There is a metal, cylindrical joint that keeps the leg part connected to the seat part that is being held by 2 rings. One of my rings broke off one day and the chair started wobbling sidewise a bit. I didn't think it'll matter much since it doesn't really move that much but lo and behold, just a few months later I started getting dizzy and in a few short weeks started having TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE headaches. And I mean every single day, all day. Had no idea what caused those. All sorts of things started going through my head until I figured out it was the chair. One day, after I got to the daily headache phase I decided to try the idea of blaming it on the chair and instead used a small stool (tabouret). The headache went away in about an hour and I never head a single problem since then.
I'm now looking for something that has its leg parts connected straight to the seat. No excuses.
Another thing to know is you always need armrests. Does not matter what kind. You need those if you're going to be spending 6+ hours a day on the chair.
you cant take 1-2 min walking and stretching breaks? i use one of those fancy mesh things with all sorts of adjustable whatnots...it suits me fine but im not as heavy as you.
you still need to get up and walk like every 2 hours or so, otherwise you can get clots.

Of course your would think it's awesome. He can just wipe off the butt sweat off the leather after he's done wanking instead of leaving stains on another type of chair. Kudos!

I do get up...its just the cheap chairs wear out after a while. I want a chair that is gonna last a good while. Went to junkyard today to try and find ideas for a good seat, but the cars there really didn't have any great seats, excepts for an 05 pt cruiser seat...was nice. I want leather tho and most are exposed to the elements and are cracked it appears. I'm going to a different one tomorrow to see what they have. thanks for the advice so far guys.
If you want, I could draw up something that you could use to build it. I am a mechanical designer and am experienced in developing drawings for products.

I hadn't thought of that, but yes leather is very easy to care for, better yet good leather doesn't make you sweat.
Well, I am currently luxuriating in my new office chair.
It was made to order in uk by the coi company. The chair which is described as a 'Management Task Chair' gives me lumbar support, and comes with all of the usual stuff, castors, swivel, height and tilt adjustable. It's cost is $150.

i know its no help but yeah...
if you are converting a car seat into a chair.. make sure its stable coz it can get pretty dangerous. (weight of the chair etc)

How about this dream chair? Too bad it costs $40,000.00 USD, and you just lost by looking at my sig.
Or this one?
Warning, you will have a very strong urge to pet a bald cat while sitting in this chair.
This chair would be perfect for me. Considering my plague of a sig.
