I guess everyone totally missed my post. I'll repeat again.
Killing an animal because it's a pest is one thing. It's normal.
Killing an animal because you want to eat it is normal also.
Killing an animal FOR FUN means you need to be put in jail or a mental institution.
If there isn't an animal cruelty thing for possums (I believe there is, actually) they need to add it. I don't care to whom the cruelty is performed, the person performing it is dangerous. I could care less of the animal, honestly. But the human, it's somebody I share the world with.
A lot of hunters enjoy killing the animal, which they will then eat. Does eating the animal, after one has enjoyed killing it, makes it alright? That doesn't really sound right to me.

If you enjoy it your still probably a sadist. And sadists are dangerous.

I wish this were the case.... and then you see hunters with scopes that completely kill the game. Some people like to hunt because they like killing.
I don't think "defeat" is a really good descriptor because it implies a fight =/
These hunters aren't looking for a fight - they're looking to kill.
I met some hunters like that, and while they are lazy and, in my opinion, pretty lame, they usually still kill because they want to feel better about themselves, not because they enjoy seeing an animal in colvusions.
It's sort of like how you enjoy killing people in video games, you don't enjoy their suffering (since they don't suffer), you are enjoying the process.
I guess hunting is just so much different than killing a cat for fun.
Like seriously even if you do hunting as sport or whatever its just NOT the same thing as whats in the vid (from what i hear from here i didnt watch it).
I don't even understand why hunting is getting involved here. As far as I know, this was about a human training an animal to kill another animal for no reason.
I was arguing that he probably wouldn't go to jail until I found out he was throwing rocks at it. Then I was debating whether or not hunters are psychopaths based on a post equinox made earlier.
@num Then why not raise a fuss over the beheading and execution videos on other sites instead of wasting your time complaining about some bored asshole?
can we do anything about that? NO we cannot. we can however get that guy arrested or charged or fined so that he does NOT do it again.
hes not fucking hunting btw. thats a bloody total cop out.

Yeah... I can understand the survival side, but we're in an age where that necessity is past. It is still necessary for other parts of the world, but in "civilized" culture I think we should let the animals in the wild be.
Any type of animal cruelty is just sad. Even in games there is still a moral attachment for me - but I suppose that's why I'm not a fan of FPS games that involve humans prominently.

Sorry I can't agree with that. There is something about wild game that just makes it tastier to me in many situations, duck, goose, rabbit, deer. Of course I don't think those animals should suffer at all but they're tasty and if cows have to die for that, then they should too.

Why should an animal give its life to provide a tastier dinner for somebody else? Is it not enough to eat well without needing the taste? Is taste really justification for taking a life? No matter how small?

It is for me. If I didn't believe that then I wouldn't eat meat at all, or eggs.
Though like I said before I don't like the suffering aspect, but I like meat more than I care as long as they don't suffer outrageously.
I think hunting to survive makes you respect what you eat a lot more and gives you a better understanding of where your food really comes from.
I am all-for hunting and I respect those who do hunt.
The only thing I don't like is when people go out kill an animal and just leave it there.
I believe in eating what you kill. I don't believe in it as merely a sport.
Another thing I really hate is all these Vegetarians who eat fries from McDonald's.
The fries at McDonald's are cooked in the grease that's made from the meat.
My sister has worked at McDonald's (3 locations), Hardee's, and Wendy's.
All of them do the same thing with their fries.
Now they even show you on the side of the Fries the nutritional value that proves this.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.

You aren't taking a life when you eat eggs. The fetus is infertile. And second, the biggest reason to eat meat is for protein, and I eat meat because as of now it is the best food-source for those substances in a balanced meal. To me, the fact that it tastes good is a bonus. Sure beans and other various foods have protein but it is not as high in content as meat is.
Anyways, I don't mind free-pasture butcher because the animals have a free roaming life before being killed. Not to mention the fact that the cattle in question wouldn't exist if farmers didn't breed them for food. To me that is nothing like going out and killing game just because it tastes better when there is plenty of meat already on the market. I feel it's on the same vein as somebody justifying the killing of animals instead of shooting at targets because there's a higher entertainment value for them.
At the very least the animal shouldn't suffer.

This is why I prefer free-range meats... They taste better and the animal has a better life
What about the man who, without killing the dear, wouldn't have enough money to feed his wife and child?
