Yes, but with computers there usually won't be desk space, and if there is it will most likely get in the way of your screen. To me it hardly depends at all...
@Winston - what are you talking about? Computer has online too, and you don't have to pay for "Xbox Live" type of things. Of course though, not many racing games come out for PC, and if they do nothing good like GT4 or PGR4, or any of the awesome stuff. But, here are two free online games (with very decent graphics!) They are both pretty cool and my opinion.
Trackmania - very fun, very wicked racing - lots of little tricks, high speed, HUGE jumps, and way more! totally free, and they have retail games too, that are like this - but this one is free; there are very few controls
Project Torque - not as fun as Trackmania, but more realistic, better graphics - your basic racing game, free
Still though, I voted for console. Console FTW! (Racing games anyways...)

i go with console all the way for one reason. I only play forza motorsport. (i like real time simulation rather than braking in 1 in. after going 185 mph) lol plus, the price at which you get the plus's is way better than a pc.
EDIT** besides, the only racing game i actually liked on the pc was when i was younger. it was called spy hunter. lol. fricken addicitive game.

lol. it was the best game ever though. especially cuz it was free. I loved all the weps and crap. was awesome in its prime. can't find it n e more though; only stupid knock-off's or sequals.
Console, Nothing Like having some friends over and everyone gettin down to a good race game, And u can play on huge tvs(dont sit to close) I got a dvd/tv flip out in my truck and we used to play Gt 4 at stop lights when i had my ps2 in there....not the best idea to play driving game while driving

Oh, and on average (barring one of those wheel+pedal funky things) console controls make a hell of a lot more sense.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

Split screen sucks balls. CPU = LAN. No split screen, no ball sucking.

Split screen is ok in Racing. Don't get me started on FPS.
