i dunno whats been goin on but for about a year or so guild wars and wc have been havnig really long load times. its been taking incredibly long to load up internet explorer and im gettin sick of it. i have webroot spysweep and virus protection, but is their a prog running in the background or something i have to do to make the cpu run faster, it used to be great.

first try to defrag and see if that helps, then check go ctrlAltDel and check if there are any unneccesary processes going on that take cpu usage, which will slow down ur cpu ALOT. if its still slow after that check for viruses. and if it comes to where it is still slow then reformat.

If you're running XP I'd suggest a reformat right off the bat. To run at its smoothest XP should be reformatted about once a year. There's nothing you can do about it, eventually it just bogs everything down.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

What exactly does defrag do for your computer? A friend asked me once and all I could tell him was it's something you can do while you're out getting pizza.
^lol first it finds the physical location of all the files on your hard drive then if there are files on your hard drive that can be moved to fit all together they can save space sort of like tetris how you are supposed to fit all the pieces together to be solid instead of haveing a lot of holes
ok now to the topic at hand...what anti-virus do u have? if it is norton (ug) that is prolly what is causing your slow load times norton is a big Fing power hog and that is why i hate it.
try downloading CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/
if it clears out like 3Gb of stuff then try loading w/e makes it go slow and see if the time has improved
also do ctrl+alt+del and say how many processes u have running

lol nice, it reorganizes files that arent used alot i think and puts them in folders, when u highlight it it says something like, degragment your cpu so it runs faster and more effiecntly.

More like 5 pizzas if you take into consideration the insane time it usually takes.
But if you're going to do a complete reformat, remember to make back-up copies of everything you want to save

Yes defragemnt...it basicly picks up all your files and moves them to the front of your'e drive for faster access and search times.. Ummm i fix comps for a living, and i can tell u people hate Reformating lol, ctrl alt delete for me and then go into task manager and click the proccess tab, Screen shot this (might take 2 screen shots to fit) and post it in here for me too look at. I will tell u wat u can close and wats most likely boggin down your'e cpu
or we can set up a remote access connection, and it would share ur screen with me and we could talk on aim and i could tell u wat to delete / do whille i watch from home
hey i heard alot of some good stuff guys
i alt ctrld it and i have 43 processes right now
im going to try a defrag and then a virus/spyware scan
i use webroot spysweeper+virus protection/detection
if this dosent speed it up can somone give me a lil help on reformat i dunno what to do w/ that

DIABLO = DEVIL its not supposed to be a nice game autostats are rediclous lack of pots is not welcome if it aint broke dont fix it! (diablo2)
Dont reformat AHHHH. use spybot search and destroy, free download free use free updates and the best damn program out there..I bet it finds tons of tracking software on your'e comp
dont create a backup registry, just next through all the steps u dont understand
download updates and scan and the click fix selected problems upon finish
if theres nothing u wanna save then this makes this easy, Does your'e computer have a part or a seperate hard drive partioned off for recovery?
or did ur comp come with recovery/operating system disks?
wat kind of computer is it?
if it came with recovery cd's make sure u have you're microsoft windows product key number (its a shiny looking sticker on ur comp somehwere (prob the back or side)
This allows u access to reinstall windows(without this sticker ur screwed if using cd's)
hopefully it has a recovery hard drive , to check this open of my cmputer or use Windows key (next to ctrl and alt) and press e (hold windows press e)
u will c you're harddrive most likely called "Local C" if u see any other hard drives that say recovery then u know u got the files u need there
anyways wheter it be cds or recovery hard drive u are gonna wanna shut ur computer down.
-if using a recovery hard drive-
opun start up hold either f8,f9, or f11 on the black Dos looking screen) u will see a pop up really quick saying to hold either f8 f9 or f11 ( it varies by computer maker)
its prob f11 so make sure u hold it and if u miss ur chance and see the windows key just hold down the power button and the comp will turn off(no harm done ur reformatting anyways)
once u hold the recovery key it will take u to a new screen (fairly easy from there as it will walk u throught it) if it asked if u want to partion ur hard drive click no and everything else leave at default.it will ask u if u want to format as a fat32 of as a ntfs( 2 diff compression methods)
choose ntfs if u get the choice(if not i think its default for windows xp)
anyways if theres any partions showing u can clear them out basicly u want it to say 0 used space and everything/entire hard drive as free space
it will prob ask u if u want a quick format or a full (ive never noticed a diff but always do full anyways) click ok click next and all the fun stuff
then let her do her thing. check back every 15 min to click the occasional ok/next box and in approx about 45 min u should be all set to go. it will be like a brand new comp asking u wat u want to call the system and all
-if using recovery cd-
if it came with cds its a little harder(because i dont know wat kind of comp it is and how many cds it came with)
anyways u wanna find the one the has somthig to do with the operating system. if its dell it will be a purple one. most others are silver and say recovery. anyways put this disk into ur drive and if it does not auto play open of up computer (windows key and e) and open the disk. run it and then follow the reformat instructions. everythings pretty much same as the recovery hard drive form here)
reply back with wat kinda recovery system u are using and wat kinda comp u have so i can further go into detail
hope this helps dont be afrid to ask questions i love this kinda stuff

And while I know everyone else has said this already, I also will simply reformat my harddrive from time to time. It does wonders.
