Why would anyone at Blizzard think it was a good idea to do anything with D2 while they have D4 underway? Even if it was possible? (It's not).'Hey, I know we're spending a lot of time and money on making the best D4 we can, but let's simultaneously distract ourselves and the fans from that work and siphon away some of our customer base for D4 by releasing a remastered D2!" "Genius! Here's a huge bonus for you!" Come on, it's like Apple working on the Iphone 12, but there's a hardcore group who just loved and old phone made by another manufacturer, so they're going to rehash a version of it just for them. Not gonna happen.
It could be argued that it's important to look at their products in terms of IPs and not individual installations. For instance, the Warcraft IP making money off a WoW expansion, WC3R (lol), a movie, microtransactions, swag/toys, etc., is all a win. All of it represents either an increase or a continuation of maintaining capital for them as a company.
Investors may or may not see it that way. They might want an individual thing to excel as well as it possibly can. But in the long term, I think this is also something that is considered at quarterly calls because it's more indicative of longterm success. Box sales are just a blip on the radar--if you base all your success on them, you'll just be chasing temporary highs.
This is why I argue BlizzCon and maintaining Blizzard IPs as a lifetime fan/family identity is more important than just selling the next big thing.
Another thing could be argued--I don't think a D2 remaster would ever have the staying power to upset the multi-million dollar box sales of a major new installment. If Blizzard did it, much like the SC remaster, it would probably be either a labor of love or just for existing fans. I don't think any of their remasters have turned huge quarterly profits on the scale of a major release.

Is not blizzard has work on D2 remake is an External team. Also net ease work( 1 external team ) on Diablo immortal. The agency policy will be correct for 20 ° anniversary of D2. We have no release date for Diablo IV i want rember you and with covid the game can take delayed
There is a difference between a remake and remaster, SC1 was a remaster, slightly upgraded grapics and a few ui improvements, versus a remake that is suppose to be rebuilt from the ground up and introduces new story elements like new cut scenes, new animations, new ui, new graphics ect...
The probablem with reforged was that it was promised to be a remake but ended up being a remaster, and people were not happy.
it could have singlehandedly ruined all of Blizzard's plans for future projects as people will have lost trust.
People were unhappy because they delivered far less than annocuned at Blizzcon. They shdowed some things that peole thought "uh Blizzard plans something big". Then they cut a lot of those things (probably only due to lack of ressources because the game was missing base multiplayer features the old game had, some bigger bugs and they tried to make it impossible to play the old wc3).
In other words, they simply didnt even do a good remake. They replaced WC3 by a version ,that had better graphics, but missed some (important) multiplayer features and was cut heavily during development.
Officially it was always "due to player demands". But that doesnt make sense because cutting ressources would have meant they would have had more time for other features and bug fixing - WC3 Reforged sucked here completely.
AOE2 DE had extra campaigns, contained promised features, additional factions etc. It kept the old essence and improved it. AFAIK they even didnt make it impossible to play the old version.
Blozzard did everything to screw up players. I didnt even know up to release that you couldnt play the old game any longer as soon as they released it...
For me WC3 Reforged is a disaster for so many reasons - and that swhy i dont want a D2 Reforged. It wouldnt be any good with current Blizzard. They should probably outsource it.
They copy rumors, hide the fact that its based on rumors in the title, others copy headlines and suddenly people think they have evidence - based on thin air.

Well that is pure clickbait.
