Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented FX Artist to assist our Cinematics team in creating the next generation of our award-winning pre-rendered movies!
The Cinematic FX Artist will be able to research, conceptualize and animate natural and fantastical effects. You must be driven to create compelling effects and have the ability to optimize effects to achieve the highest visual quality.

Design, create, and implement a wide variety of special effects.
Create particle, geometry, atmospheric and texture effects that simulate explosions, muzzle flashes, smoke, fire, steam, fog, etc.
Work closely with programming team to implement effects.
Work in a dynamic team environment where individual effort is critical to a successful project.
Requirements
4+ years creating CG special effects in either live action or animated film world.
Expert-level skills in 3D software such as Maya or 3DS Max.
Advanced-level skills in 2D compositing software such as Shake, Fusion or After Effects
Expert-level skills in particle systems, simulations and atmospheric effects.
Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes.
Ability to design, self-direct, and organize your work.

Art Director
Blizzard is looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Art Director to help lead our art team in developing beautiful, cohesive game worlds for an unannounced PC Project and future projects. Requirements
Experience managing large, diverse art teams and motivating members to deliver consistent, high quality art
Ability to contribute to a positive work environment and ensures art forward momentum
Ability to provides motivation and art direction to ensure project goals, objectives, milestones, and deliverables are achieved
Familiarity with standard 3D and 2D computer art applications.
At least five years previous game industry experience.
Must have shipped at least one AAA title as Art Director.
Strong illustration and concept art skills.
Ability to motivate artists and communicate well with designers in a team environment.
A passion for creating and playing games.

Lead 3D Character Artist
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled Lead 3D Character Artist for an unannounced PC project. The ideal candidate has extensive experience modeling and texturing a diverse visual range of characters and creatures at a senior or lead level. A solid grasp of form, structure, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets is essential. The Character Artist must be skilled in another form of art production as well -- illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, concept drawing -- and be well-versed in related tools --3DS Max, Photoshop, etc. The ideal candidate also works well in an environment with peers that are passionate about making great games. Requirements
5+ years experience in game development modeling and texturing characters using Maya and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs).
An exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy and a keen eye towards form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regards to modeling.
Superior eye for light, shade, color and detail in creating texture maps.
Self-driven, good communicator and a great team-player.
A passion for games.
Skill in one or more of the related creation tasks - illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, concept drawing
Able to work full-time in the Irvine area.

i believe blizzard would be most likely to make D3 more of an mmorpg style game such as guildwars because so many people like this style of play and they may have something in mind that can imrpove the mmorpg style to make it less like WoW and Guild Wars which may make D3 more unique and hopefully make the game itself better for everyone who plays it.
