ok im gonna say that the vampire is the best choice for a class. ASSUMING im right what skills you think they would have? what skill trees? basically what does everything think the vampire WOULD be like?
as far as skill tree goes
1. some kind of leech life and average to strong damage (bit weaker than barb stronger than most)
2. curses
3. something to do with night and scary lol
that said i know people are thinkin i want a new necro.. but i just couldnt figure out what else to call it ( i dont want this to be anything like necro).. curses would be closest to necro but nothing repeated all new curses. the third is my best idea.. it would be a section of skills all designed around night. first skill available would be changin it to night with a moon so you could summon werewolfs and bats but you can get a slight regeneration move to later on.. somethign like that
i know its the wrong game again but a perfect reference.. the vampire from WC3 would be amazing. and what does witchdoctor have thats LL? and as far as WD having summoning.. Druid had summons and amazon had valkyrie. more than one class can have a summon WD is not at all dedicated to summoning. and im not callling you on it just an honest question . what curses does WD have?
and yea the diablo 2 vampire lords are undead and alot different than im thinking.. like i said before.. vlad the impaler was what vampires were made off of and he was a human not an undead. they somehow changed to "undead creatures" along the way.
like emil said it was more an undead mage than a vampire.. they shot fire at you and didnt do any leach attacks but yes the name would throw people off.. but then again it wouldnt be hard to find an alternative name for a "righteous vampire". and back to emil again (+5 props) take out curses and put in martial arts for a much cooler character. its new and i think it could work minus my stupid curse idea
ha yea i played for years and years and didnt realize. thinking about it i could see the previous vampire ruining the chance for a new main character one. but then again the idea of the character itself is really good so they might use it
lol i suppose a diablo demon hunter would be pretty cool to see
i like seeing when they cross classes in games and how different they turn out xD
other options could be witch hunter or hell slayer =3 but demon hunter is more contempory and they dont gotta secure another name for their new game xD
but i dont see crossbows being a fun main skill tree maybe as an option on a secondary line of skills but i personally hate crossbows in diablo games lol
for a more diablo vision i can see him duel wielding swords maybe
unless you want diablo 3 to have a much higher degree of technology in it xD
perhaps Explosives, Hunter, and Dark Arts skill trees (to reserve a possible assassin for the D3 exp if it has one)
the dark arts skill tree would be a mix of martial arts and shadow skills kind of thing =3
the vampire would summon familiars and probaly have skills that take a enemy monster for a certain amount of time
and vampires have been seen to use black magic in games
so the D2 vampire really is a pretty basic vampire
but if they put a vampire in they would probaly have vampire clans or something
In diablo2:lod there was a item that would allow you to turn into a Vampire so I guess that means they already had a vampire class you could have in D2 (so it rules out the D3 class being a vampire?)
Not to mention all the previously stated facts like you would be a demon and blizz specifically said they arent including angels/demons as a playable class [i wanna be tyreal someday tho!].
Other than that im a slut for lifeleech, any class that has that in its skilltree im going for.

"Free stone of jordan, just type: /dnd SOJHACK1337(password) for free SOJS!"
1. some kind of leech life and average to strong damage (bit weaker than barb stronger than most)
2. curses
3. something to do with night and scary lol
1. - drain life is an attribute on weaponry/items in D2 - We only hope it follows over.
2. Why? Now your mixing Necro/WD into a melee class.. which would make a too powerful Hybrid (imagine Barbarian Power with WD skills.... eww.)
3. ... .. . . night isn't scary.. neither are vampires... perhaps you are in the wrong place? Maple Story is not made by Blizzard.... D3 seems like it would be a little too much for you.
While I love Vampires to death, and Retro Goth Futurism - this doesn't fit ANYWHERE in D2 storyline.. players of Diablo while from around the Diablo "world' still all fight for the same reason - against evil - even Necromancers in D2 fought the minions of Hell - it was a balance thing. Adding an obviously demonic class would upset the entire storyline... and piss a lot of players off.
"Whoo I am a demon fighting demons! I am good look at me!" no. wait not just "no" but HELL NO.
Honestly if D3 includes some BS class like that I would have to flip a coin to see if I would want to try it anyway - ignoring the class completely - or not buy/play at all.
If you want a "vampire" in game simply get Life and Mana Stealing items. There are plenty of them in D2, it would only make sense to carry them over to D3.
While it is a pretty good idea, I think it would overlap heavily with the witch doctor.
If you wanted a vampire in the game, you'd be much better off making it an agility style class.
Probably like a D2 assassin, cept' more menacing.
Could use the blood skills, maybe shadow disciples, and some other skill tree..

"As far as I can see, it is 100% possible that a vampire could fit into Sanctuary in some way. Werewolves did, and that is a good enough reason for me."
I just want to say that there were no werewolves per say in the diablo lore, as far as I know.
There were druids who could take on to the shapes of animals, one of whom was a hybrid of wolf and man.
In the game it was called "werewolf" and "werebear", but he was not a werewolf as of our myths.
About the whole vampire thing - one could add to a game every thing as far as the stratch of his imagination. The question is, is it fitting to both the game and the lore.
In my opinion - no.
I mean... to add something to the lore and the game just because it's considered cool is somewhat shady.
Heck, if so - I could find a solution on how to add the power rangers to the game and ask for a class. (No... I do NOT think the power rangers are cool)
It could have a pink skill tree, a green tree and a red tree. And it had traveled time and space due to a mailfunction in his huge robot/spaceship/space-time-random-generator.
Gief power ranger class plz!

Huh... Emilem that suggestion of a bathuman got me thinking :D.
If we did have a class like that, it could have 3 skill trees.
1 for human form, 1 for bat form, and 1 for hybrid (vampire) form.
Each skill tree would focus on staying in that form most of the time, and could easily compliment the other trees.
Want to cast spells ? Human form.
Want to use hit and run ? Bat form.
Want to tank in melee ? Vampire form.
While I doubt that we will ever see something like this, it would definitely be one of the most fun classes to play ^^.
Dunno what it could be called though, vampire just seems too..... evil.
I remember seeing some old russian name for vampires a while back, it would work quite well.
Can't seem to remember what it was though :(.

It's just the name vampire that would send the wrong message to many players, thinking that it's evil.
I'm not saying that it wouldn't work, just that it would need a different name.
But yeah, essentially it would be the same, just with a different name :/.
But yeah, i do see what you're saying. It's just natural for people to associate vampires with evil, since it's like that in pretty much every culture/movie/book/whatever.
That idea you had of the spawn of the D2 vampires could work incredibly well though, so much backstory could be involved in that.
The spawn could experience memory loss, try to find out who they are, take revenge on what spawn them, or something like that.
And those 3 skill trees I suggested could fit into this incredibly well too, the human form could be the vampires trying to stray away from their vampire side, while the vampire form tree could be completely embracing it.
However, bat form might not work as well, just doesn't seem too threatening...
Could substitute something along the lines of the shadow disciples skill tree ?
Anywho, got on a bit of a rant there.
Haha, sucker could work :P.

Think about it, the Witch can summon and leech life, In terms of damage maybe a bit off, but the same overall.
http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act1-vampire.shtml
It says "undead" but it says they're spawned from hell, so that's a demon to me.
They're demons, and I highly doubt we'll see a demon class or even a non-human one.
and yea the diablo 2 vampire lords are undead and alot different than im thinking.. like i said before.. vlad the impaler was what vampires were made off of and he was a human not an undead. they somehow changed to "undead creatures" along the way.
I still think the name can't be used again without it being confused with Vampires in d2.
Besides that summoning overlaps the WD summoning, yes d2 had a necro AND druid but druid only came after the expansion.
Blood tree could be fun but if not made carefully it may end up just resembling skills + a life leech item.
Curses will be handled by the Witch Doctor's Voodoo and Spirit Skill trees. Mass Confusion and Horrify are already there.

Vampire class is already pretty done in other games and in Sacred the vampire class is pretty good!!!
I dont think we need a vampire in D3
