I haven't actually read up enough on the relation between Aidan and Adria, however, enough is known to me that Leah is their daughter - as recently revealed.
The reason for stating the obvious is that it's relevant to my post. Right. So moving on. How old is Leah really?
Judging from her age in the clips I'd say she's anything from 18 - 24, I highly doubt she's under eighteen due to body structure and general 'intelligence' level in the game. (But who knows?)
Apparently these events occur 20 years AFTER the Diablo 2 world. Which means Diablo was in possession of Aidan’s body about the time she was conceived. As stated in the wiki with this line “She was conceived a few days after Diablo's "defeat" in the catacombs beneath Tristram.”
Beyond that, they say also it took Diablo about two days to take control over Aidan’s body, but that might just be fanciful theories. However, if it true, a ‘few’ days is definitely not ‘2’ days.
So What if 'Aidan' wasn't the father, but the 'Diablo' version of Aidan is. Thus that would count as demon spawn in a sense of the word.
I know there's a lot of speculation about Diablo being female (possessing a female, popular speculation being Leah), but what if that female artwork isn't Diablo? But instead a corrupted Leah.
I also know it's farfetched, but there was art meshes (?) leaked about her where's she's pale and her eyes sort of look like they have a yellow sheen to them.
What if she transforms into that being at some point? Becomes the main enemy.
I say this for three reasons.
1: Her visions could be because of her 'demonic' link to the burning hells, such as seeing the battle between the angels and demons.
2: The vision of 'Diablo' in the opening cinematic doesn't appear slender; it appears much bulkier than the art of the 'female' version.
3: Blizzard has been extremely sensitive about Diablo 3 and everything contained within, they're trying really hard to make the game comfortable for both newcomers and diehard fans. I don't know about you but if Diablo becomes a 'female' in the game I'll be sorely disappointed and will most likely be 'put-off'. I also know if I was not a die-hard fan and a newcomer the idea of a female/shemale Devil will be a bit humerous; it wouldn't be appealing to me.
Blizzard is also very secretive about the theories of people. They are not willing to admit Diablo becomes female, nor to discredit it. This COULD mean that either direction would give away the story.
If they say YES it is, then well…lots of boo’s and bah’s I imagine and then people will be more on the ‘Leah get’s possessed side’.
If they say NO, then people will start looking in THIS direction, which is, in my opinion, more likely.
Because of these reasons I find it plausible.
I haven’t fully read the Book of Cain yet, mainly because I’m waiting for my hardcopy to arrive, so in the meantime I’m reading an e-book; but I’m sure there’s references in it regarding something like this. Or at least subtle hints.
Because…GOD forbid, I will NOT believe Diablo becomes a chick. NO! I’d rather stretch all visuals of him so that he looks like a bulky dude. I like the male Diablo and he should stay that way and I’m sure a lot of people prefer it that way.
The links to everything I referenced to is below, don’t look if you don’t want to spoil something and don’t blame me if you do.
I also know this was briefly discussed in this thread:
Oldest theory in existence about Leah but nice that you have all the sources.
Haven't actually found one yet, perhaps because I was more focused on the Diablo/Leah thing. I'll google some, or perhaps if someone can give me a link to one? I would like to read their points on this as well.
I cant understand why woud someone care if diablo is female. Its a demon, demon could simply be asexual!
Maybe they just get the sex of their host.
Or maybe its alway been female and just looked bulkier because it had male hosts.
I don't know...doesn't seem right to me. Not with the whole series. I've known Diablo to be male in both voice, act and built. I don't want it to change to suit a writers fantasy.

Surely the "writer" you are talking about, is Blizzard? The creator of the series and of the character you have *assumed* to be male. As a Blizzard employee said, we have never seen Diablos' true form.
What is more scary? A massive hulking "male" looking beast demon, or a lithe feminine "demoness". Since he is the Lord of Terror, his appearance changes to suit the deepest terrors of those around him.
Now imagine we have Cain with us at some point during the game, and the one thing Deckard Cain fears more than anything is that Diablo somehow takes over Leah....
and so we see a "female" version of Diablo....
See a connection? Just becuase there is a screengrab of a "female" looking Diablo, it could be a cutscene involving Deckard Cain's nightmare because he knows the connection between the Dark Wanderer and Adria? Leah's mother? So his greatest fear is that a piece of Diablo lives on in Leah, and seeing a "female" diablo would fit that.
Stop running away for miles with random unbased theories and subjective analysis.
Just think people! It doesnt take much!

Well, that last part in my comment was a bit off-base. I didn't mean it like that. I'm actually rather referring to the way the people see the Diablo series and Diablo himself. It would be baseless for a writer at blizzard to try and change something that is so familiar to people.
And you might be right about the dream thing. That would make sense. I heard another odd speculation. That's it's Lilith.
However, there is one part that could make it Diablo. The section on spoilers that are pinned names a bunch of curses attaches to Diablo and all of them list the primes, more specifically Andarial. The 'limbs' at the back do kind of look like a mutated form of Andarial's claws. But who knows?
I understand speculation is worthless at a point like this, I could just wait for the game and see myself. But everyone has their two cents to throw in. Isn't that what a forum is for?
Speculation is not pointless, its fun for some people!
and i doubt its lillith, i really doudt the d3 logo includes lillith's head. Its diablo, it has never been a man or a woman, justa a demon and in this game it (not she) will look more femenine, probably because it has a female host (leah or adria).
You're just stating the oldest theory about Leah, with the exception that she's just corrupted and not possessed by Diablo? Not likely. Blizzard wouldn't put something other than Diablo where Diablo should be in all the art released so far and go LOOK ITS DIABLO. Maybe he won't be female in his final form when we fight him, but it's definitely him somewhere in the game.
Because…GOD forbid, I will NOT believe Diablo becomes a chick. NO! I’d rather stretch all visuals of him so that he looks like a bulky dude. I like the male Diablo and he should stay that way and I’m sure a lot of people prefer it that way.
You're pretty much admitting your theory is grounded in your wishes rather than observations, so quite a lot of believability goes out the window right there.
That being said, I hope he's just femaleish right after possessing Leah, and merging into Tathamet makes him more... maleish. I am all for a male Diablo too, really can't get as pumped up fighting something afraid of breaking a fingernail (chauvanistic comment alert).
Never said I didn't - most people base their theories on personal beliefs and experiences as well as facts presented to them. But yeah - I understand it compromises the theory.
I don't actually care why Diablo looks like a female - I just don't WANT him to be that way or stay that way. So I really hope Blizzard's just screwing with us.
i think with the graphics being 10 years more advanced than diablo 2 that the slimmer diablo just looks a lot scarier. He probably has just been going to subway.

I actually lol'd at that. When I get better at drawing I'm going to draw that - or try.

True, most people work that way, you were just a little more obvious about it. Have to forgive me, I'm still semi-raging over the post in general that got locked a while ago, it really got my heart pumping.
Otherwise, as I said, I'm all with you. Female Diablo is a bad idea on so many levels. Dont know if they're trying to be creative or politically correct, but it's not working out for them. And they might be pulling our leg, they do have a sense of humor.
The one about inferno? Or which one are you referring to?
I think my biggest point is that Blizzard won't change something that big - I don't see how they can rationalize it in their heads. Female + Diablo just doesn't work for me. I really hope they're pulling our leg.
