Did a quick search haven't seen any other threads up 'bout it yet, figured I'd start it off with a question; When was it made? They are giving guesses on the % blizz will take, when it was explicitly stated they are taking a solid fee, no matter the price.
Also, I understand the process of making the game online only, but sacrificing revenue because well not 100% of people will be able to play it, therefore won't buy it. But they say 'why not just make an offline mode', as if it was incredibly easy? That would mean all the potential hackers would have the full game w/o being connected to Blizz's servers, and therefore make it extremely easy to hack / dupe / bot, and put those toons on the live realms.
And of course they take the time to pretty much say RMAH will probably ruin video games because it will feel like work, When if you think about it, you will be doing the same thing you have been doing for years, playing it. Pickin up loot, killin monsters. They say RMAH is revolutionary, so RMAH wrecking a game is a complete guess at best. IDK, I just have a problem with people completely against an idea when there's no proof whatsoever on their side, just an opinion they like to state as fact.
Not starting this to argue with everyone on those exact points, but more of a question as to, and if the movie was recent, why they don't know what they are talking about?
Blizzard stated when the RMAH was revealed that the price for listing would be a static price, while the cut taken from a sold item would most likely be a percentage. Both values are yet to be determined.
As for the Video: It's made by Extra credits, and only published by penny arcade. It premiered 2 or 3 weeks ago, but who knows when the script for that episode was written.
I've heard the opposite: That the cut will also be static, as another way to prove that they don't care how high the prices get or they won't try anything backhanded to stimulate higher prices / more items that cost higher prices.
It's been a while since i viewed the specifics. Turns out both costs are to be fixed now, but i believe to cash out to a 3rd party will probably be % based

Oh defiantly, paypal operates on a %, but since they aren't Blizz doesn't matter =P
I think RMAH being the reason why they implemented a online only restriction is kinda wild guess. It might be true, but it might not be the case.
A counter argument for that video's theory is the fact that the public that will demand the RMAH services is definetly not the public that will play offline. Offline players tend to be or extremely causal people (those who finish the game in normal 1~2 times) or extremely hardcore and purist players who left b.net because they were tired of competing with hackers and botters. I can't see neither of those people spending money to get items in game. So, force offline players play online won't increase the "RMAH gross product", i believe.
I think Blizz is not that villain company. I believe what they said about the reason why they added this online restriction.

The paypal % is on top of a % fee that Blizzard themselves charge you.
