In D2, we got tons of set items (green items), usually for previously unknown people, such as Sigon, or Hsaru.
But what about the people who we actually know in the Diablo universe? Which one of them deserves an item Set dedicated to them? And also, which character would this set be used by? What bonuses would it give? And if you feel like going even more in depth, what item type would each set piece be?
Personally, I want to see a set for Bartuc. In case nobody knows/remembers him, he's the guy mentioned in the lore as the brother of Horazon. Horazon bent demons to his will, and Bartuc sided with them to gain their knowledge and power. He also bathed in blood, killed innocents, and all that fun rape n' pillage stuff.
He was also in the book "Legacy of Blood", and this book was the primary reason I want to see a set dedicated to him. His armor in the book, basically carried his soul within it. Granting it all kinds of badass wizardry bonuses.
I can easily see this being one of the top sets for the Wizard, as Bartuc was one of the most powerful sorcerers alive in Sanctuary.
And of course, this armor has to be a sickening shade of red, due to the fact that Bartuc smeared the blood of his victims all over his armor.
I'd imagine it being full plate armor, probably a great helm (the one with the 2 horns) as the helmet. This is because both offer great protection (which bartuc would have wanted), and the great helm is somewhat intimidating, with the horns and all.
As for a weapon, I doubt this set would include one. His armor is badass enough as is, and it doesn't need a weapon as well. Also, the armor was composed of a full set of armor (helm, gloves, plate, boots, ect), thus adding a weapon as well wouldn't leave much room for customization if you were going for the full set bonus.
Anywho, throw down your ideas!

That was a unique weapon though. The OP might be talking exclusively about "green" set items.
I would like to see a set attributed to the Dark wanderer.
No, it's not. A set is a set of items that gain boosts from every piece of the set you obtain and is denoted by the color text green.
Bartuc's claw is a unique.

They were the claws for the assassin, if I'm not mistaken.
I would like to see a set for Tyrael. When wearing the full set, it would show the wearer with a magical, holographic image of the angel himself, but everybody can see the character underneath. One of the full set bonuses: All lowly enemies will flee at the sight of the wearer. It wouldn't have any effect on champions, uniques, and super uniques. The act bosses are super uniques; blood raven, corpsefire, pindleskin and the randomly named enemy are uniques; and we all know about the champions. A partial set bonus would be: Ability to wield Colossus Blade with one hand (any class). It would be made up of five pieces; Sacred Armor, Crusader Gauntlets, Myrmidon Greaves, Corona, and Colossus Blade. The only way to get each set piece is to kill a monster that guards the piece. Even then, you may have to kill the monster a dozen times before it finally drops the piece.
Feel free to add attributes.

I know, I was talking about the set, not the unique item.
Like I said, I can't really see the set possessing a weapon, it just doesn't fit.
If you've read the book, at least.
I always thought that the claw was more of a way to represent Bartuc in the assassin society, or Viz'Jaqtarr (something along those lines, don't know the exact spelling), and not meant as the actual weapon that Bartuc himself used. I thought this because they never mentioned any weapon being wielded by Bartuc, and it seems rather odd for a sorcerer to wield the weapon of the people designed to kill him, no?

Sets are a bit tricky because they often reflect a kind of item set that (aside from multiple heroes on Bnet having the same items, etc. etc.) are 'realistically' obtainable in the world.
A Cain set doesn't make sense because, well, he's not a powerful or magical entity at all that we know of, his power is knowledge. A Tyrael set doesn't make any sense because that would imply his armor / sword / etc. are grounded in our reality, able to be 'lost' or handed down, and that wouldn't seem to be the case with him.
There are tons of canon characters from the novels they could tap for this -- Mendeln, Siggard, etc. etc....as well as former NPCs / heroes they may have perished since D2, particularly those from Act V, considering Mt. Arreat was destroyed by the destruction of the Worldstone...
Strange you guys didn't consider evil sets with the names of special evil monsters. Frozenstein should be a cool barb set or a nihlathak set How about the mont arreat guardians? (talin, madawc and korlic). Or the classic witch doctor Endugu?!
Yeah. This thread is about non-existant sets, after all :D.
I was so confused.

Full Set Bonuses:
Ability to become Invulnerable for 20 seconds. (Has a cool-down time of at least 3 minutes.)
The reason for this as a bonus is it is in the book that Uldyssian fought Lilith in her demon form, she couldn't leave a scratch on him during the struggle.
Partial Set Bonuses:
+30 to Energy
This is because he seemed to always have more energy than anybody else.
This set needs improvement, I know, but I would like some help in deciding these.
