Achievements for me would not change the gameplay aspect of the game at all, they seem pointless. Sure u could show off what you have accomplished but who cares really if u can kill 90000 fallen. I would rather have a player statistic sheet where u can view things like that with no end just so u would know how many but this is still something that i dont want to put too much time into thinking about when theres so much more going for this game.
this is great and it willl force people that care about the achievements to do new things with chars and not have a game filled with light sorcs and hammerdins
Awesome, even though this idea obviously came from the 360.
As long as the achievements are varied and unique, it's all good.
I'm sure this'll add more playability and gives fans a lot more to do online.
Not form 360, from Valve's Steam games as far as I am concerned, and I do think it's a good idea cuz it makes it all the more personal, much like the nemesis system in TF2
Why would anyone dislike this? Just think of it as.... more quests... but with a personal reward instead of an actual in-game award like an armor or exp or a special potion... it makes the game extremely more replayable. I love the idea
Basically its like this. If there is a hardcore guild or clan, whichever name you prefer... Their going to check your achievement system out to see how good you are for recruitment. Hell, I would. And that might be a problem for some people, especially the less hardcore of the population.

If you get personally attacked by letters through the internet its a good thing to always have a box of tissues and a band-aid around.
I said in the other thread that you should get achievements for doing every quest in an act. The achievement bonus scales up with your level so the earlier you complete the act the more it will scale up in the long run.

Short answer, yeah I would like it...
Long answer, might make playing a hassle for some people.

The Diablo series has always had hassles. In fact I believe the moral of Diablo is "shit happens". But that is one of the major reasons for its addictiveness.

This is not just about diablo 3 though... Its going to be linked with every blizzard game I believe unless i read it wrong

The problem I have with that is... why join a hardcore guild/clan if you're not a hardcore player? Shouldn't you try to find a more casual clan/guild?

How should I know what other people do lol.
I just thought that if someone was pretty laid back, then wanted to go hardcore, but their achievements page was horrible, that might suck for them. clan/guild-wise

OK, that makes more sense I can see where you are coming from.

maybe because blizzard's allegedly venturing into the 'hell vs. sanctuary vs. heaven' thing we can have titles as an indication of our alignment as well. Naturally we'd all be primarily aligned with sanctuary but we could make decisions in quests (e.i. choose to kill Andariel and bring it's foot to the npc as evidence, or just cut off the foot and release it back into the wild) that effected wether we aired more towards good or evil, or heaven or hell.
I find achievements a lame excuse for game developers not to offer real rewards for gamers who complete certain tasks.
Alright, I found the last cog tag... did i unlock something? no. do i get bios about who wore them? no. Do i get a cutscene? no. Does marcus even say something? no. Can i at least chunk these things at a monster head since apparently they are worthless? no... not even. So... why did I collect them? Oh right, so xbox can say I did... lame.
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
