having a respec button and not using it is like having a golden gun a tthe beginning of every mission of a shooter and not using it...you are going to, because you want to do good (or be good like other people online), but you wish it wasnt there at all as it takes the fun away. respecing is almostl ke a cheat IMO
and as for what Baaboon said above, it probablly will have VERY similar progression in lvling to diablo 2, because they are shooting for the same amount of play time as diablo 2...more quests (qhich you dont even know) doesnt mean more monsters or more time. some quests are long, some short, some not there, some optional and so forth.
I don't want respeccing, i love walking past noobs using a lvl 12 teeth spell or something, its a necessary element to the game and helps the characters be unique with online play, otherwise every character you come across online will be uber and gay. Its good to have the possibility of a soiled character and uplifting when you create a ubermachine of death. imo
It is in WoW, but it won't be in D2, unless you mean PvP gameplay then BARELY.
If you don't like the idea of people giving you more of a challenge in PvP you have no business PvPing in the first place.
I never played PvP.
And it does have a gigantic effect on the balance of the gameplay. How could you say it doesn't? I'm not saying its a good change or bad change, but unlimited respec completely redefines the balance of the skills. If nothing is permanent, then no skill point placed has a negative effect. How is that not a MAJOR CHANGE IN BALANCE?

What balance are you talking about? Every class in D2 was just as able to kill stuff as the other pretty much... It was a lot more gear dependant than skills.
If blizzard put it in the game, they will attach a cost of some description to it. We have no idea what that cost will be (Gold? XP?) as we currently know so little about D3.
What we *DO* know is that blizzard always put in incredible effort into gameplay and balance. You only need to look at SC, SC2 (What we've seen so far), and WoW. I don't see D3 being any different.
Yes. And I would love to see more balance in the skills than in D2. I don't want to see any useless skills.
EXACTLY!!! you took the words right out of my mouth paradox. I mean half the fun is planning your character build..me and my brother have been so excited before that we would map it out ona piece of paper lol...good times.
if you never make a bad character and you make one of each class that means you will have five characters...that would be all thats needed and therefore you would be complete...eveyroune would be the SAME!!! thats not fun. there needs to be a unique style to people, there needs to be a style that is individualistic...some people dont like certain kinds of builds and it shows!...thats cool!

i second that...d2 was all about the items...a lvl 75 sorc could outdo a lvl 99 if he had better items, not stat related and barely skilled related...unless u completely messed up, which no lvl 99 would be because thats just dumb

I LOVE to plan my character build but if I accidentally click into a skill that I didn't want should I restart my level 50 character?
Respec in some form is very useful. Respecing all the time for PvP would be lame.
i hope and pray blizzard tells the public that there will be some sort of respecing but it is limited...all my prayers will be answered! :)...basically if you can respec, its liek taking away from so many possiblitiies.

5 characters WITHOUT respect = 30 plus builds
5 characters WITH respects = 5 builds
Honestly that's a lame excuse.
If you don't want to use it you don't have to. If you can think of how OTHERS using it effects you, that's different.
What balance are you talking about? Every class in D2 was just as able to kill stuff as the other pretty much... It was a lot more gear dependant than skills.
Yes, it was based on gear more than skills.
I'm talking about the balance between the individual skills inside each class. It's more or less an economic concept.
wtf does that mean? "so what if you play for thousands of hours, you still only buy one copy"...umm i want to get th emost time out of my copy...d2 has given me years and years of play time...and id hope the developers make smart decisions as to allow the same with D3.
again Daemaro, I agree and believe minimal respecing should be allowed, but not unlimited "spamming" respecing. you want to talk about SPAMMING something...SPAMMING skills is the WORST type > <

5 characters WITH respects = 5 builds
not to mention its a flawed argument...with respec its 30+ builds...w/o its more like 5 builds
what you must be thinking of is with respec: 5 chars, without: 30+ chars
and since there might be a char limit id go with 5 over 30

Yes Re-spec is a poor feature targeted at unskilled/noob players. How can you have a Ladder or a scale of skill in players with respec, imo respec available to hardcore players only and only go back about say 2 skills back.
oh yeah on another topic shouldnt hardcore players be rewarded in some way ?!?!?!?!

LMAO? Respec available to hardcore players? That's not very hardcore...
Respec should be off for ladder and hardcore, and limited to something like once a week for everything else.

I still don't get it. I could build pretty much any class with any skills (using a little common sense) and still be able to kill things.
I don't see how it makes anything unbalanced. It's only unbalanced in PvP if people are allowed to respec to their hearts content.
Thankyou. People just assume that its going to be a respec fest, when more than likely, it will be nothing like that at all!
if one guy respecs in pvp, the other guy will counter or get repeatably beat...
