Developer states he thinks it's a bad idea to not have some sort of respec'ing ability. He also states that if they ever decided to make a necromancer that the Witchdoctor wouldn't prohibt them from doing that.
Sounds like we'll be able to respec and there won't be a necromancer.
He was saying that if they wanted to do a Necromancer, he'd be a different type of Necromancer and that he wouldn't tread on the toes of the Witchdoctor. Which is difficult considering Necromancers are now enemies.
I don't see necro being a release character, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if we only see 2 "returning" characters and 3 new ones. But we know there will likely be a later expansion that will likely introduce more.
They may not necessarily be the Priests of Rathma.
Precisely. The Priests of Rathma are all about protecting the balance of Sanctuary. Perhaps Heaven gets the upper hand in DIII, and the Necros switch the side they are influencing to maintain the balance. But as soon as the upper hand changes, they will be right back on the other side.
The Priests of Rathma are not evil, have never been evil, and will never be corrupted.
You may argue that Nihlathak was an evil Necro. But you would be wrong, because he isn't a Necro at all. He was a barbarian elder who stumbled upon a few undead spells.
Its obvious Heaven does not have the upper hand... Especially with the Idea floating about that Tyrael has been corrupted... 20 years have passed and the Rathma have always been misunderstood. Prehaps there has been a genocide amoung the mage guilds?
They said they wanted the classes to be unique/individual... unless they completely change the meaning of necromancer that means he will never be one of the other 5.... I think the reason he isn't saying "there will be no necromancer" is because of potential in expansions." And he is sort of a cult favourite.
I hope you can't respec infinity times like wow. I don't mind say one chance... or the ability to respec but you have to keep the same point distribution along the same skill tree's. Like you might miss click and pick axe spec instead of polearm or something... but you can't go full poison to full summoner sort of thing...

I hate Respecing. If you make a mistake that encourages you to make another character.

If it's true anyway, I'm sure they're only doing it to restore the balance. That's what they do best!
