in wow you go into spirit form after you die then you can run to your corpse and res with low hp/mp and you can't aggro anything until you revive or you can use the spirit healer at the graveyard where your spirit pops up to res instantly but with a pretty nasty 10 min debuff i thought it was an ok system even though i never really enjoyed WoW
i wouldnt be angry with a system similar to either one i just dont want to lose exp or items if and when i die.
Its basically the same thing... only catch is, in Diablo II if you didn't clear the way, which would be the sort of thing to get you killed.. then you would have a tough time getting back to your body (in hell mode)
Whereas in WoW you're basically invisible to everything and you cant see any monsters until you get towards your body.
I think it's basically the same concept... but Diablo II is a little harder.
I think we'll still see the same style, but if you're acctually playing the game the way it's meant to be played, there's almost no difference but graphics. (WoW=Ghostworld, D2=Normal World with no gear)
Maybe something like both WoW and D2 together? like when you die you still gotta walk back like in both games but in D3 you'd be naked and people could see you but couldnt do damage back until you retrive your body, i dunno just a thought xD
do we have a source for any of this or are we all just guestimating?
everyone is just guessing. More or less saying what they would want to see.
I would actually love to see the Diablo II style running back to your body death. For the penalty I think it should be some EXP, but unable to lose a level/go into negative exp. It's not that big of a deal, just watch yourself. EXP loss is the only death penalty that will get people to watch out. Oh and preferably damage to armour as well.
take a look at AoC, with no death penalty that game is a joke. There needs to be a penalty, for PvE deaths only. PvP shouldn't have as much, or a penalty at all. On the topic of PvP, i really hope we can collect the players ears of who we killed. Those were always fun, especially when you keep it and then trade it back to the person later on when you happen to meet them for a trade.
May I remind you that there was no xp loss in D2 until you hit nightmare/hell mode? Was that game a joke?
hmm, i forgot about that part. Either way no it's not a joke since it has a death penalty. In normal mode you still get hit for armour durability. Which after a while is enough incentive to not to die. Your post makes no sense since Diablo II did have a death penalty and it only got greater in higher difficulties.

Yeah, sucks when your head gets bitten off or something.
BTW that wasn't a boss haha.
I'm sure part of your body will still be there for you to collect your items from, and you might just have to go looking around for your head to find that helm of yours.
I never noticed this... it makes armor less durable? Or what?
Every death hurts your armour. And after a while you'll have to go repair. My memory is fuzzy since I haven't played Diablo II in a long time but I think thats how it was. At least I do remember having to go repair multiple times because my armour and weapons were damaged/broken and I'm sure part of that was after deaths.
What do you all think for returning to your body after dieing? Diablo 2 style or something more like WoW??
Personally I would say keep it the same but I am a Diablo 2 pureist so I am a little bias.

For multiplayer, the return-to-body system is fine, I think.
Pure speculation.
All the OP is asking if people THINK they will keep the original D2 death system or go with WoW's.
everyone is just guessing. More or less saying what they would want to see.
