I remember a time when none of my friends were on so you go into a game drop your item in a corner and go back with mule and collect usually was fine, one day i done it and the game didnt exist when i tried to go back for an expesive item!!! coulda cried! lol

    anybody else done same???? lol

I'm game with this method. But i'd rather a work around the whole 8 char per game idea...I hate having to stop playing to find a new group.

I'd much rather a different setup. I hate it how you have to quit playing to go find a group and on top of that joining a game and finding out all your quests have been completed. I'm confident Blizzard will find a perfect way to do this. All we have to do now is wait until Blizzcon for more information on Diablo III.

posted a message on New way of doing item drops - what do you think?
While we are suggesting ways to handle loot i'll toss out my idea.

So how about the group leader gets to choose which loot style he wants. The choices being FFA or need/greed roll for items of a certain quality and above. The loot rules can be changed from FFA to need/greed at any time, but can only be changed from need/greed to FFA when out of combat. Gold will be divided equally across the party members.

The items will still all pop from the corpse no matter which loot option is selected. If Need/Greed Roll is selected, then items of the set quality and above are locked from being looted and players are able to roll for the items. The winner of the roll has to still loot the item after he wins. The item is not automatically looted, and if not looted after a period of time it becomes available for everybody to loot.

This system would prevent ninja looters to the same extent that many other RPG style games do but would still keep the option for classic diablo loot open. I think it's a perfect compromise, and if you are in a group with a leader who wants to do FFA loot and you want need/greed then too bad find another group or live with it and maybe you'll get lucky.

posted a message on With such nice graphics, should they eliminate the 3rd person camera?
    Quote from "Lucion" »
The graphics are indeed "nice" but they aren't really 3D with true depth.

The Diablo games are designed to allow tons of pets / monsters / heroes and NPCs on the screen at once.

If we went FPS style then the game would grind to a halt.

And in Diablo we are used to seeing the "big picture" all at once.

Heck, this is a very fundamental characteristic if Diablo. It was probably the first (and by all reports only) thing the Blizzard North designers agreed upon.

Sure the OP fails at asking questions but honestly, is it that hard to read a couple of posts down to find out what he actually meant?

He didn't want it to be first person, he wants it to be a free floating camera, not fixed.

You really do not see the "big picture" with an isometric view. But changing that would require reworking the click to attack slightly. And I'd say a game like Age of Empires is a game designed to allow tons of characters on screen. RPGs never have a lot of things on your screen.

I have a couple of friends who would find it amazing to work on the blizzard cinematic team. But they have to go through school first. Graphics are fine, what a lot of people do not understand is how much computing power a game will require if a company was to make the textures look very realistic. Excessive use of displacement/parallax/bump/normal maps will slow the game down almost as much as if the models were actually the high poly versions.

Jesus christ, You DO realise there are people who actually dont have that much money to spare right?
Just becuase you have the money to pay for unnecessary luxuries in life doesnt mean the entire western world does too!

I don't waste money on unnecessary luxuries. I make mistakes here and there, but if I want to play a game that is pay to play I will have a monthly cycle which I can cancel at any time if something comes up. The way capitalism works is the harder you work the more you make. It just makes no sense to me why people won't strive to make more. Or you can be one of the few lucky blokes who had a rich family member and make a quick fortune, but usually when that happens those people are very bad with their money and in the end lose it all.

Dude!! Stop busting his balls!! Some of us are in extreme situations. I moved out here to California to pursue my career in acting and modeling. I came with almost $7K. I am now $1900 in debt, and I am barely able to make my payments on my car and house that I'm renting with two friends. The payment is only $650 a month too!!

I am working anywhere from 40-50 hours a week at my job, and I am barely getting by. I would try to get another job, but then I wouldn't have any time to do my photo shoots or auditions.

I will probably be able to scrounge up the cash for the game, but for a monthly fee, I will just play single player.

Who the hell do you think you are? You come in here insulting someone and telling them how they need to handle their money. Screw you and go troll another forum.

Acting/modeling is not a money making career, it's a contract job where you can go months in a dry spell. Thats your fault for choosing such a way of life.

I'm someone who actually understands how to handle my money, I actually save money and don't spend it right when I get it. I have enough money in savings to last me 3-4 months if somethings happens. How you can work 40-50 hours a week, share an apartment with 2 friends and not have enough money left over is beyond me.

So lets say you get 9$ an hour. Thats 303.75$ for a 45 hour week with 25% taxed (don't feel like looking up California tax laws right now so i threw out a number which I'm sure is close if not higher). So you get 1215$ a month, and lets say 500$ goes to your apartment and 1/3 of the other bills associated with it since your 2 friends will be paying the other parts. You now have 715$ left. 150$ on food for the third of the food sounds about right for the month. Now you are at 555$. For some reason on such a low income you own a car and waste close to 300$ in gas for it +100$ for insurance per month. Now you are at 150$, Save that money and learn to manage it. There is never a reason to be in debt other than your own mistakes that you have made. For one, i'd say if you live within 15-20 miles of where you work, start riding a bike there. You obviously think you have enough money for gas so you should not be complaining. The only time when riding a bike isn't a viable form of transportation is during heavy rains and deep snow. Every other day a bike can be ridden.

There are plenty of ways that you can cut your budget and start living wisely. First of all, stop driving your car except when you need to, cut your insurance plan benefits, and don't waste money on things that you don't actually need. If you live in such a tight situation you should have other priorities other than thinking about playing video games anway.

Easier said than done when you have to support others while economy is falling apart and prices for everything from food to gasoline increases.

Gasoline is easily avoidable for the most part. If you live within 20 miles of work, start commuting by bike. You'll get in shape and still have plenty of money left over since you are not wasting hundreds of dollars for gas per month.

The economy isn't nearly as bad as some people take it to be. Don't get me wrong, it is worse than normal but there are hiccups always and with a moron leading the country i'm not surprised. Whenever he opens his mouth the markets plummet.

No, I cannot. Usually any excess cash I get is either invested in something of dire importance or used to buy food, pay bills etc.

in that case learn to stop living paycheck to paycheck. It's a bad habit anyway....It's nobodies fault but your own that you do not know how to manage your money.

I'm fine with paying a monthly fee because 10-15$ a month is nothing and I can find that by just searching around my house each month, Laundry taxes are the greatest, especially when they leave a 10 or 20 bill in their back pocket.

I won't pay a fee for a game like Diablo II though. If i'm paying blizzard, I want to be able to talk to a great population of the game without having to stop playing. I do not want to have to join a game and be limited talking to only 7 other players. This is 2008, i'm sure Blizzard can do something good with the new Battle.net that they are promising.

    I don't think that's a decent penalty, but I guess it's k for Normal...

The reason I explained it is because someone complained that the way I wrote one of my posts made it sound like I said Diablo II was a joke in terms of death penalty. But since his post made no sense it sort of got into me explaining it to you.

Armour durability hits need to be coupled with EXP loss. Not too much exp loss but enough to make you think before you go into a situation when you might die.
    Quote from "Morlow" »
I'm all for the exact same death penalties as D2. Naked corspe runs with XP loss.

Exactly, there needs to be a game that makes you actually think before you go out and get yourself killed.
