yeah they are very easy to avoid, just make sure keep an eye on them, so when they go for the underground attack u get out of the spot, you have plenty of time, if you stay there ull most likely die.
I find that if I keep a movement rotation even when relatively safe I can avoid this entirely. I have had the hand come up just over to my left or right out of range because I do a burst and move, burst and move strategy.
uhh, never had any problems with these, I actually think they're one of the easiest elites in the game if they dont have jailer. just stay at max range and the hand will not hit you and stay on move all the time if you can't tell when they're going to do the hand move by their animations. When you can see when they start to do it its easy to dodge.
oh right except when they attack from off the screen? You aren't always approaching the left or right, sometimes they're on you before you see them.
haha I'm sure eventually someone was going to post about them. They are fu*** ass***. If you have decent movement speed (12% at least), you can dodge their attacks quite easily. The problem becomes when you are in Bridge of Korsik and 4 of them come to you along with winged beasts. Thus, avoiding tentacles + balls of fire can be challenging sometimes

StarCraft Legacy - Content Staff Hey guys I want you all to know that my team is playing/did great this weekend so I am going to go ahead and make it my status because I know you all care and want to know my opinion on it.

When I made the first post I was in act 3 on the bridge with limited room to move, and alot of other things attacking me.
However once I calmed down, and decided to take my time....just spam blizzard/hydra and keep moving...slow and steady...down they went.
I actually just made it through act 3 today and I'd have to say I've never played with so much movement before.
What about elites that have a ranged attack who are also reflect damage? I think I've only been able to kill just a single one of these packs, and that was because I was lucky enough to isolate them and bring them down one at a time.
The answer for both is "kite like you're playing a Hardcore char". Against reflecting ranged mobs you really want to sidestep all the time and sometimes reset your hydra far away to stop the incoming damage until DS/potion is up again. Also, the galvanizing ward and templar help a lot agains reflects.
yeah reflects damage can be a pain in the ass, especially for me that dont use diamond skin lol, ive seen it spawn on the elite demonic tremors, they also had "extra health" needless to say I skip them...
Only attack them when they're off-screen (your spells have a longer range than the screen's size). 95% of the time their AI will tell them to try to attack you with their tentacle thing and you'll be out of range so they just sit there while you blast your face off.

Not using Diamond Skin in A3? o__Oa
I'm a huge proponent of Diamond Skin, Why aren't you using Diamond Skin, you should be using Diamond Skin XD

yeah, I always used to have diamond skin, then it got to a point where it felt very underwhelming, like it wont save me from a bad situation, so I have force armor which can save me from the ranged attacks, and then against melee I just make sure to stay away, also I have duplicates and teleport fracture to cycle against some rares/elites, and that seems to work better against tough opponents as you dont want to get close. I might come back to using diamond skin when I get godly gear enough to use prismatic armor and mitigate all damage dealt to me, as of now feels pretty crappy....
I farm act 3 very efficiently, 5 stack siegebreaker runs in around 20 minutes.
Stats with force armor + glass cannon + force weapon is:
4100 armor
330 resist
35k HP
86k DPS
I have experiemented with a lot of different builds, and I always come back to Diamond skin as my go-to defensive. Teleport wormhole/fracture with illusionist passive is also good, but I feel like diamond skin helps me better overall.
I farmed a lot of 5stack siegebreaker with a lot less gear, something like 28k HP and 50k dps, and it's still very doable. I just think teleport vs DS is a playstyle choice, and both are very viable defensive skills.
In order to do well in act 3, I found movement speed to be of BIG priority. Get at least 17-25%, it will help you so much in dodging spears, pestilence tentacle rape, morlok fireballs, firemage fireballs and also getting more damage off while kiting.
Movement speed is almost necessary imo. Lacuni bracers, Hammer jammer pants, Unity ring , and Flavor of Time amulet are all great pieces with movement speed.
Agreed, I have 12% on boots and 6% on lacuni, some people might wonder if those extra 6% will make that big of a difference, well they actually do a lot. Also you said you were doing siege runs undergeared with your 50kdps, lol Im doing it with 35kdps(granted its a lot slower and I dont use force weapon atm), if I had 85kdps Id prolly be doing something in act 4?

Act 3 and 4 drops the same loot, and since Act 4 has absolutely aids mobs that 1-shot charge you off screen (oppressors and the corrupted angels), its simply not worth it to do act 4 in my opinion.
Act 3 is faster, and certain routes have very doable packs. My usual route is this:
1) Rakkis crossing. Grab tyrael. Clear up to siegebreaker. Usually 1 elite pack. If none, I restart game at SB checkpoint until I get Underbridge which always has 1 elite pack.
2) Do underbridge for your first (or sometimes 2nd) stack.
3) Do Stonefort. There are 2-3 elite packs.
4) I have usually have 4 or 5 stacks now. If very unlucky, 3. If 5, do siege.
5) If 3-4 stacks, I go outside arreat front gate and do Barracks/Fortified bunker/Cyder's outpost for my last stacks.
I used to do another route, which was Rakkis > Underbridge > Bridge of korsikk > Ice caverns.
The caverns usually have 3 elite packs plus a guaranteed resplendent chest on lvl 2, but it always ended up taking a bit longer, because the cave has retarded monsters. Huntresses, Leapers and Bullchargers can all be incredibly annoying to deal with, regardless of affixes, and 80% of the time requires very slow zone-killing (where you zone in and out doing 1 orb and whitting them down slowly).
So I stopped doing ice caverns, and I feel much better about my new route in stonefort. Much easier monsters there.
thanks for the tip, I was actually doing that ice caverns route u pointed, and as u might have noted my dps doesnt help me lol I was actually pleased to see bull chargers rares there cuz, lacunilike and/or scavengers are a major pain in the ass to deal with, and now there is no more tyrael to kill those retarded ones...
Normal HoPs, you can actually range out-range them and they will sit there and not attack.
For Elite/Champ HoPs, you have to be quick with your escapes. Movement speed on boots as others have mentioned is defiantly a plus, I never farm without MS boots (even with MF gear on). I run a teleport/mirror image- duplicates/Illusionist build, and most times if not all, if I can't run away from the hands I can TP to safety.
Best thing with this build, is how you are able to distract Siegebreaker (and a handful of other affix mobs). Once I get my 5 stack and end at SB, I throw on MF gear (~175% atm with the 5 stack) and whittle him down with 17k DPS.
Currently I am at a loss with these guys, the instant the hands pop out of the ground i seem to die.
40k hp
~250 resists
4k armor
44k dps
