Well reading through the Witch Doctor summary on the official Diablo3.com website, I found this:
"The witch doctors are finely attuned to this Unformed Land and are able to train their minds to perceive this reality through a combination of rituals and the use of selected roots and herbs found in the jungles. They call the state in which they interact with this other world the Ghost Trance."
Now if we were to translate this into our reality.. That means we'd be trippin out on some natural psychedelics of some sort, lol. Do you think the Witch Doctor class will make surroundings change if we can gather and consume these roots and herbs? It would be a amazing new way for classes to "train", maybe we can find new spells or summons depending on what herbs we find, to learn more about this alternate reality they call the Unformed Land.
Oh yeah.. Like imagion finding certain herbs for some realllly rare spells. Like in Diablo 1 nobody had the same spells because you found them in books. Witch Doctors would have to find herbs to reveal a vision of one of their tribe's spirits casting this spell, which you would from then on also be able to use.. I think it would be cool lol.
i thought the 'unformed lands' were the heavens, so maybe that's how we get there to fight the forces of heaven like the sight says we will. Arcannabis.
The site says we fight the heavens? That doesn't make much sense haha Where? And from what I've read on the Witch Doctor page the "Unformed Land" is believed to be a reality achieved from rituals and plants/herbs.
Haha, of course you would think of something like this, jlane. But yeah, that does make sense. They induce herbs in order to go into a trance. I think its pretty cool.
But no, the 'unformed land' isn't heaven, its earth (Sanctuary). Its described as being like a hidden world behind the world we normally see. Well, okay, they do have "Gods that inhabit the unformed land", which makes it sound like Angels in Heaven, but somehow it just doesn't feel like they are talking about wondrous angels. It sounds much more like the Necromancers and the hidden Trag'Oul or the Druids and their Spirits of Nature.
Upon further discussions with my hosts, I discovered that these tribes define themselves by their belief in the Mbwiru Eikura, which roughly translates to "The Unformed Land" (this is an imprecise translation, as this concept is completely foreign to our culture and language). This belief holds that the true, sacred reality is veiled behind the physical one we normally experience. Their vitally important public ceremonies are centered upon sacrifices to the life force that flows from their gods, who inhabit the Unformed Land, into this lesser physical realm.
The witch doctors are finely attuned to this Unformed Land and are able to train their minds to perceive this reality through a combination of rituals and the use of selected roots and herbs found in the jungles. They call the state in which they interact with this other world the Ghost Trance.
Alongside the primacy of the belief in the life force and the Unformed Land, the second most sacred belief of the tribes is their philosophy of self-sacrifice and non-individuality, of suppressing one's self-interest for the good of the tribe. This idea, so foreign to our culture, struck me as something I wished to delve into much more deeply.

Hey whats that supposed to mean I guess the hooka smoking caterpiller on a shroom.. Yeah :p. But yeah that sounds pretty cool, I'd really like the spell books from Diablo 1 to return in some way, and finding unique herbs that leads to visions would be a awesome way, for the Witch Doctors anyway.
Rofl, im gonna get blazed in D3!! Im gonna get Diablo Baked!!!!

Why put them in conflict? If the first thing you think of new character classes is putting them to a duel to test them out, then you firmly believe that conflict produces change. Conflict is not the Way of resolution. If you want to compare the two character classes, put Necromancer and Witch Doctor in co-op game mode. I will make a new thread on this.
