I'm not sure, really. Cause I've thought about that. And personally, I think it'd look really good. But I know it takes a very long time to make those kinds of cinematics.
But even if it ends up being a fully live action film, I hope they at least stick with the directing style of Diablo cinematics. Since I feel they're so well done.
it would take a long time yes, but it would be awesome.

yep, that kinda goes back to what i said earlier, i dont want someone else coming in and missing stuff up. lore, story, direction. all the stuff i (and others) love about Blizzard's franchises

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Well isn't that the usual problem with top quality cinema? A good director and writer combination come in and straight away want to revise something that works in another format.
Like making changes, subtle and otherwise, to Lord of the Rings. Some of Peter Jackson's artisitic brilliance (even allowing for the fact he really had to make some cuts) were jarring for me.
Gary Whitta has an independent streak to him, especially visible in his total body of work. Hope he doesn't decide to go his own way for the sake of his own artistic integrity.
Sure the Diablo mythology is nothing like LotR. But fans like me are just as keen as LotR fans in not wanting the basics meddled with.
For the sake of making the movie more "commercial" or "accessible" to the general public I'd say - do it but you'll p'off all the die-hard diablo fans.
The fact that the writer has been announced first is a good sign. Shows that the story is paramount and a director will need to work around the story. Rather than have to fit a story into some director's style.

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
UPDATE:Now the Legendary Pictures homepage has been changed. They have removed Diablo from their under development projects. What gives? it was there, along with World of Warcraft.
Believe it or not, Legendary Pictures has just announced that they are making a movie based on the Diablo series by Blizzard. No word on who will be directing the movie (or writing it or starring in it for that matteR), but if Uwe Boll has any involvement, I say we Diablo fans riot in the streets.
If you ask me, the announcement of this movie brings up three big questions:
1) Will this have any effect on when Blizzard will announce the next Diablo game?
2) Will this be a good movie or will it fall under the "video game movie" curse?
3) How will they handle the Secret Cow Level? Let's face it, if the axe-wielding cows aren't somewhere in the movie, it won't be worth watching.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have seen a trademark for it once. "Diablo: Salvation" I think it was titled.
I'll update if none find it again.

the movie is confirmed, its listed in the developement section of Legendary Pictures' website. what more could you want?
i think that blizzard will have quality control in this. they strive for and achieve perfection with every single one of their games, i dont see how they would want to risk their good reputation by green lighting a crappy product. if there is a movie to be made with blizzard's name on it (they are partnered with the Studio, they didnt just sell rights), then im more than sure we will recieve more than our moneys worth.
Carloseus, your right! If they "f***" up this film... I will do horrible things like hide the remote lol But seriously, I hope they don't go cheap on this one.

I like the life I lived, because I went from negative to positive.
You know very well who you are, don't let them hold you down, reach for the stars.
well, this studio did bring us 300 which has proven to be among the most manly movie in the past 2 years. and since blizzard delivers quality, im sure they will not let Legendary make a crappy film.

To find the truth, you must risk everything.
I see WoW, but not Diablo. Nor do I see anything in their 'in the news' section.

Hmm... maybe they jumped the gun and listed it without Blizzard's approval.
