Kind of surprises me no Dungeon and Dragon type games are on here. Those games had a huge impact on several others. Lands of Lore wouldn't even have existed if it wasn't for that game. One of the best RPG games of all time, by the way.
Really. It makes little sense to rank games that are across multiple generations and platforms.
The list is top 200 games of all time.. any system. I may slightly agree with you... but its just something they did for there 200th issue. When it comes down to it there well never be a list that every one can agree on cause its just opinions. I dont know how many ppl was involved with this list, but its there opinion on the games. I do disagree with the low rank of Halo 2 tho.. i feel that H2 really opened it up for MLG.

Because it's NOT ON THE INTERNET. Print. They wrote a hugely abridged version for the net, but the real thing is infinitely longer and only in the magazine.
Well so I as I read some of the blogs of these writers of the article, it does sound like a big criteria for them was whether the game helped change the landscape of gaming. I hate also how they love that a lot of people are gonna be pissed off at their selections. I hate these assholes. And not for the games they didn't list or the ranks of the ones listed, but just because of everything one guy said here.

Your right.. i just noticed that! D&D had a huge impact on may rpg games today. Wtf
I guess my overall point is the reader can't even fairly argue the list because there really was no process in selecting these games it seems like other than just them putting what game they felt like on there. They might have just called the list 200 Games We Thought of Just Now. But I also understand I am oversimplifying it a bit.
I really just wish they would have had different categories.
It's really a moot Top 200 List since half of the games are near unplayable nowadays. I would think the main point of a list like this would be to remind people how great a game was so they can play it again, or show people how great a game they had never tried was.
But alas I'm left with games which I've played, and systems which are basically extinct.
I'm only compelled to write my own top 20 most underrated games now. I wish I had the resources though that Game Informer had. I can write the article but I wouldn't have as many screenshots and whatnot.
At least IGN included a flight sim as well as Grim Fandango (easily one of the greatest games of all time). And I was happy to see Fallout closer to where it belongs.

Agree. Fallout was an instant favorite for me... i doubt G.I. even played Fallout, or fallout 2
Shh, don't mention Baldur's Gate. It only serves to summon Elfen from his cave.
hahahahaha
I only just started playing this game with Elfen myself, and I do like it. But I pretty much just followed him around, I kept getting lost, and he knew where everything was and exactly where to go.

Give, expecting nothing thereof. ------------ BoD - Come have some fun! Folks will always come and go, so enjoy them while they're meant to be in your life.
No Spyro or Pharaoh.
*shakes head*
At least Crash Bandicoot made it.

No Heretic and heXen, but Doom is up there. heXen was much better than Doom... so was Heretic II... bah. They kicked themselves when they added DooM up there so high, that game is rubbish. It may have been "new" back in the day but to rate it right now, that game brings absolutely nothing to the table. Seems like they're adding games by the popularity at the time or something, rather than by their summed value.

But yes, BG and Planescape are excellent games.
You get special props just for knowing of this game.
In fairness, I only first played those games last year. But I loved them nonetheless even without the added childhood nostalgia to go along with it.
