There are already bows in the game, so the final class has to be a ranged or hybrid type of some sort. It will probably not be anything as simple as we are expecting, though

I'm gonna guess a generic "Ranger" class because we've already had Rogue/Amazon/Druid and they need a ranged fighter and a nature-magic user, and "Ranger" covers both of those. Actually, I have a theory they're gonna have 6 classes in the game because at this point the game is mostly likely not coming out until 2011, which gives them more time, and I'm sure they have too many ideas to fit into 5 classes.
Heads up guys, the Monk's skill videos are up on Diablo3.com. Thankfully they don't seem as ridiculous as they did in the gameplay video. Also, they definitely have some kind of charge-up like the Assassin.
The monk class suits Sanctuary enviroment very well whoever his skills animations are too overpowered IMO. Every monster that he kills explodes like a atomic bomb LOL.
EDIT:
By the way, I simple love staves for melee fights. I was thinking to make a barb as my first char but now i'll definitely choose the monk.
Too bad that the monk will also be able to use claws/katars, as seen in some artwork images ondiablo3.com, so i'll be a little unsure about what type of weapon i'll use for him. -.-
the monk looks pretty cool. Prob not my style tho, but I'll have to wait & see lol. I was sort of hoping they would have some sort of like twisted knight in the same vein as the necros character, neither good nor evil. Not saying monk isn't awesome but just not very original.
But wait folks, in all these posts did we even talk about what they'd do for females? Because all the other classes are male and female, what about female monks (if such a thing, perhaps more like a priestess. Makes me think of Iron Monkey movie)? Or would they only have a male monk and a female only 5th class?
Hmm...

I'm pretty sure they're making all the classes both Male and Female. Just because they did not reveal the Female Monk right away doesn't mean she doesn't exist. The Male Wizard wasn't seen in-game until the gamescom/BlizzCon build.
Nah, I can clearly remember James saying that EVERY class will have a female and male version. For me, male = way to go when it comes to a monk. I actually omited the monk when I looked at the character possibilities... simply because i found that the monk lacked the necessary thoughness to fight evil hordes. I now have to admit that the monk looks badass and is everything I really wanted out of an assassin/holy class
Well, we already have the Witch Doctor. I feel like if they had another Necromancer look-alike, it would be too much.
oh I mean a knight that is only similar to the necro in the fact that it isn't good nor evil. So it could have crazy demon skills etc. Ah well I don't think that will happen but no harm in hoping so lol.
I'm pretty disappointed.Monks are pretty boring and over-played in RPGs.
I would of preferred something more creative and out-there.
Monks are absolutely bad ass if you do them right, and as far as I'm concerned, nobody has done them right yet. With that being said, the RPGs that have "monks" in them, have no clue how to make a monk.
I'm guessing the monk in D3 will be the more creative and out-there idea you want. You just don't know it yet...
He shouldn't be weapon specific. Historical (shaolin) monks wielded lots of diferent weapons.
What worries me is that we still need another ranged class and none of the mellee classes seems to be designed to use shields a lot.

Stay awhile, and listen.

Just wondering how that'd work. And a nun eh, hmm...

I knew I would love the Monk
