MTV Multiplayer interviewed Blizzard Entertainment execs Paul Sams, Chief Operating Officer, and Frank Pearce, Executive Vice President of Product Development to talk about Diablo III.
On why “Diablo III” isn’t an MMO: Sams: When we’re deciding what type of game we’re going to make, we look at what the gameplay experience is going to be. We talked to the team a lot and say, “What is it you want to play? What is it that you want to make?” And we really felt like “Diablo” is a franchise that is very cooperative in the manner in which you play it. We felt like the gameplay experience that we had delivered historically with being in a non-persistent world was the right way to do it for this particular product. I think a lot of people expected us to say that this is going to be an MMO — maybe an obvious choice in a lot of people’s minds. But really, the bottom line is we thought the right game to make was “Diablo III” in the way that we’ve announced it.
Meh, it's the same sh!t they've been repeating everywhere. Blah blah blah we'd love to do a new IP sometime, blah blah we don't care about overlap between games, blah blah.
There is indeed nothing new in the interview, but as long as they don´t announce anything new on their offical website i think there won´t be ANY new interview were some information is given we don´t know yet.
But as Frank Pearce said i would realy like to see Blizzard doing some new franchise game!!!
How often did they release new info on starcraft 2? Because I would like to know maybe when we will learn more about D3

I know I should be happy about D3's publicity. But I don't exactly feel that MTV gets me and I sort of wished they'd stay the hell away from computer games. But I know it's just a story and that I'm probably being a grouch.
Overlapping doesn't concern them, and I guess media exposure of any type is over all good for buisness. Diablo didn't really belong in the MMO arena and the sacrifices they make from gameplay to make MMO's would severely disappoint me. (Arena of one guy attacking thirty monsters to thirty guys attacking one monster really isn't my thing.) I must say I do find it an interesting prospect of a new game series coming out in the future, perhaps better than all the ones before it; only time will tell.
