To sum it all up, I've been an on and off diablo 2 player since 2000, and I'm currently halfway through finishing the third sin war trilogy book, even though I just picked it up yesterday :P.
Basically I joined here to fuel my fire for the expected diablo 3 game, and HOPEFULLY the movie.
Regrettably, I never played diablo 1, and it feels like its too late to go, pick it up, and force myself to play with crappy graphics.
Do you think it's worth the trouble?
Many think as far as atmosphere and how Diablo should be, Diablo 1 is better. The only complaints are no running, classes that are far too similar and, or course, crappy graphics.

well first off i read all three books in like 4 weeks. lol but hope you have a good time with the third one. and yes its worth getting dialbo 1. the graphics are about the same. and diablo 1 has way more of a scarier game than diablo 2.
Then I guess it's a sure thing.
Think I'd have a hard time finding an old game like this in stores?
I didn't, but then again I bought the Diablo Battle Chest, it comes with Diablo, Diablo 2, Diablo 2: LoD, the manuals for Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: LoD and the horribly outdated (and poorly done) startegy guide by Prima. If you already have both Diablo 2 and LoD and you want Diablo, I'd suck it up and get the Battle Chest, otherwise you'll have a fight on your hands trying to find a copy of Diablo.
Buy the Battle Chest, give or sell D2 and LOD to a friend.
Hmm that's tempting as my bro has my Diablo 1, too bad I have no one to give D2 and LOD to if I took that route.

Well I doubt any of my friends would have it, cause I'm actually the only one in my close group of friends thats actually a diablo fan (I know, it's blasphemy), and I'm not sure if I wanna wait for the torrent.
Besides, if I can get my friend to play d2, it's another reason for me to start up a new fire sorc or something

ya i am the only person in my whole school who plays diablo still. i have maybe 2 friends who used to play. but i dont know anyone in my entire school that plays diablo at all.:(
nothing more frightning than being low on life and outta pots and having to "walk" away from the evil pursuing. The only real downfall to game is the not running part but if u get over that its a great game

That depends? Are graphics really that important to you? At a glance, I don't even think the graphics in Diablo II are that superior to Diablo I. But if graphics are a major concern for you, then no, it may not be worth it to you. Most people also complain how they can't run (I know you can run in town in Hellfire, thank you very much) and they find it frustrating that one would actually be fleeing from their enemies by speedwalking.
But I've said it a thousand times, I love the first Diablo. I love the music, the ambiance, the quests, the monsters, the creepiness, the claustrophobic levels, the somewhat depressing yet enlightening ending, it's just an amazing game.

Well, he has one now, but you never know.
And yes, I would love a slush puppie ;D
It costs like 30$ anyway, less than most games, and they're good games at that.
And welcome!

But in all honesty, I have a little set of games that I go back to at least once a year, and that includes diablo 2.
Yes play it, even if u play single player,

To find the truth, you must risk everything.
