Another thing that bugs me, If he is now mortal and can die, how exactly did he survive falling form heaven in a flaming meteor through the roof and 5 stories into the cathedral and then laying in blue flames until your hero taps him on the shoulder?
Tyrael's "Might" have protected him (pun intended :P)... his armor would be badass enough to protect him throughout by the way.. Angels aren't only powerful because of their weapons
To everyone saying Tyrael is mortal, not human, let me paraphrase a conversation between him and the Scoundrel:
S: So, Tyrael, what do you think about Leah?
L: She is a very brave woman, and some more stuff not related to her hotness.
S: Well, I guess you're not completely human yet...
So, yes, Tyrael is human, the Scoundrel is just teasing him for not comenting about Leah's hotness. There's also the fact that he looks exactly like a human. So, there.
Ruined him? He fell from the heavens so he could fight against evil. How is that ruining him?
Tyrael is badass in Diablo 3.
Wait, are you talking about his appearance? That's about the only thing that would make sense.
He did not "fall" from the heavens, he was kicked out after taking off his wings..after having a pissing argument with imperius whom he already knew was high tempered, watch the cinematic again, he is surprised when the strange tenticals come out and drag him into the ground, he even struggles against him.
I doubt he was completely surprised. He knew what was going to happen. There's no way none of them don't know that. Maybe they didn't know that tentacles may come and, possibly painfully, rip away their angelic powers, but they knew what it lead to. He made that choice, it was a badass choice.

I would explain it as the "fall" is still part of him losing his angelic powers. The moment he lands is when the undead awake because the moment he lands is when his powers completely dissipate. Seemed obvious to me at least.
As for the rest of your points, I don't really have any counter arguments and I'm not here to change your mind. Personally I think he was great in Diablo 3 even though your other points did get me thinking a bit. I guess it's all in how you look at things. I'm sure I could take what you said and skew it to look like he is a "deep" character or something.
The thing that bothers me most about Tyrael in Diablo 3 is that he always sounds like he's about to break out into song.
And on the subject of Tyrael tattoos, if I had one of those, I don't think I'd regret it just because the new Tyrael isn't as cool. The new Tyrael would not have been the reason for getting the tattoo, after all.

I wouldn't exactly call what the Scoundrel says in a passing jest definite. It's not even possible for him to become "human". Humans in Sanctuary have both angel AND demon blood as I'm sure you know. If anything I would say the scoundrel meant it more like "you're not quite human but you're closer now"
Though him being or not being human doesn't really matter because as others have pointed out a lot of things could have saved him. We just know hes mortal.

Agreed, you're grasping at straws when you take a joke and consider it canon.
As for surviving the fall, I just assumed he was still 95% angel for the duration of it. Think of it this way: if you cut off a man's balls that doesn't mean that he immediately became or woman, nor does it mean that he ever will be a woman. But before long he just won't be the same as he used to be now that he is without that heavy testosterone supply.
As I explained in IRC earlier Tyrael might not actually be "mortal" mortal. If that would be the case a new Archangel of Justice would've almost instantly popped out of the Crystal Arch. Instead he will likely reincarnate from the Arch when he dies "mortally".
My theory will go to waste once a new Archangel of Justice pops out of the Arch.
edit: And because someone said "well he did say "I'm... dying"" and then quit IRC, well, that was before he knew he was an Archangel, and even with that my theory up there still stands that he might've just reincarnated back from the Arch.
^^
But isn't he Wisdom now? So should a new one pop out anyway then or no?

He can call himself Badassedness if he wants, doesn't change the fact Wisdom is still alive and out there. He'll always be Justice as that's the role the Arch has given to him.

I don't think I've ever read anywhere that they were spit out with their roles already intact.
It's mentioned in Izual's story that the angels always wondered why the Crystal Arch never spat out a "replacement" for him. Meaning a new lieutenant to Tyrael. Meaning they have roles as they are born.
His character is just so badly developed compared to how he was in D2...
Yeah, like being overpowered by Baal and Diablo while they weren't even near full strength. Or like when he was standing inside the Pandemonium Fortress, while sending the heroes out to battle the hordes of Hell. Not to mention he asked you to kill his own failure of a lieutenant, surely something he should have taken responsibility for. Or what about when he entrusted Marius -- the drunken bum -- with Baals Soulstone, telling him to travel into a demon infested Kurast, where he should take the portal into Hell itself, and destroy the Soulstone at the Hellforge, all on his own ... Was Tyrael drunk or stupid to have made such a request? Who knows, but hey, at least the North team were mavens of story telling ... yeah right.

Nostalgia is a lie. I've always said that. Some people just can't let go from what they've played as they were growing up though. :<
Oh, I remember Dune II. It required such skill... had such great story...

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and most of them stink.

Ha. Bagstone.
if a kkk had a tyrael tattoo done, and later found out about the color of his skin .... PWNT!

But back in D2 he wasn't as present. I think it's a good tradeoff.
