Some friends and I were wondering if anyone knows how to determine what the baseline for magic find is now with Torment 1-6. Given the new gem drops, we were playing around with the idea of an extra 35% MF in a helm socket. If the base MF for, say, torment 1 was 300%, an extra 35% would be fantastic for farming. Not nearly as much if the base was more ridiculous like 3000%, so I wanted to know if anyone had an idea. Thanks in advance
You would need an insanely large amount of data to be even remotely close to figuring out that number - and it would still only be a rough estimate. However, just from personal experience: if you consider "Normal" to have 0% MF, Torment 1 can't have something like 1000% MF. In fact, even after the MF hotfix many people resort back to split farming on Normal because they don't feel any increase in drop on T1. I personally don't perceive a difference at all, actually. But it's just my subjective perception.
Also keep in mind that MF only accounts for 10% in terms of legendaries; even if it's 300% on T1, it would only be 30% for legendaries.
Between my follower and the topaz in my helm, I would say I have above average. Farming Torment 1, with and without it, I honestly notice no differences. In a single rift I did get 3 legendaries from the boss on Torment 2, after equipping the MF, several hours later. But honestly don't think It would have changed a thing without it. I did several more, maybe 4 or 5 rifts and got nothing also on Torment 2. My thoughts so far is, unless you play 4 people in a group stacked with a high topaz and nagel ring then differences are so little that it isn't really noticeable.
If you read carefully.... Torment level increases the chance to drop legs but MF increases the quality of legs or quality of items in general.(This can be seen under MF in your info screen)

#72 US Wizards in Vanilla D3 - Aranoch#1167
say you have 200MF and 10% of the MF works on legedaries
1.15*1.2 = 1.38%
So a incline of 0.23
Meaning:

Every 1000 drops you will get 2 more legendaries,statistically...
Ooh and farming rifts gives a bonus to legendary drops which is addedmultiplicative meaning that MF works beter in rifts!
