So in the image showing off the character profiles (on the front page), Bonecrusher has weapons with 2 sockets in each? Is it possible that this was in the internal build at the time, and that we may see this in a future patch? Discuss...

does anyone else find it poor on blizzards part to use out dated pictures of this. i'm not going to call it an out right slap in the face, but its just so....so....what is the word.

Remember the class presentation videos posted pre-release? Those videos also use outdated clips, and some of the clips present material with items/crafting mats that is outdated, so it's not the first time
those are not as noticeable, these are, especially with the D3 community feeling the game is on a decline due to boredom and there is that feel as if it wasn't polished in the mechanics area, these pictures aren't helping much. It just feels wrong.

no, not at all. Keep in mind this is the Web dev team working on this. They don't have time to get pretty pictures that have data that matches the current live data at the time (when its just a dev preview).
The web team works on everything (wow, sc2, and d3 web items) They just need something that works, and shows the point (which it does).

Also, we have actually no proof that the facebook tease is an outdated picture... And you cant really blame Blizzard for outdated pictures if Diablofans decide to dig for a really old preview just to show people its the same thing.
Someone didn't read well, but the news post could do a better job indicating that the pic is old (the 1st paragraph says it but then the images are 3 paragraphs down).

thats beside the point, the previews came out -after- the game. the images itself was of a older date, which has nothing to do with the news ^_~ also the news post dosnt say anything about the pic having a date before the release.
Seriously, this game needs power items. It needs such things so that people can more dynamically customize their builds. We really need to stop addressing itemization in D3 with this MMO style sense of balance.
D3 will never meet it's potential, it will never garner the same following as D2, so long as itemization is done with more concern toward fairness and balance than toward fun and power. It won't work. It will fail.

I rather have them spend their resources on other stuff, rather than trying to perfect this image for the sake of uhh....nothing?!?

I'm not sure what kind of resources are required to not display a weapon that doesn't exist. It's not in their best interest to elude players clues to think that perhaps there may be soon available an item that they have no intention of offering.
They did say that legendaries would be changed in "surprising" ways. That was a legendary 2-soc.....just sayin.

Excuse me? They don't have time? What the heck are they working on then please? Considering how many customers Blizzard has something like this is just pathetic. Blizzard has proven in the near past that their quality is going down the toilet. It's not that hard to get a current screenshot for a feature they want to advertise.
In all honesty, they are just getting more lazy by the minute.
The web team (that works on this stuff) is not 'that' large, and they are working on countless things (as I said, there is one web team for all projects (web API).
MoP is coming out.. and WoW already has a API (while d3 does not) getting WoW's API updated is top priority for them (for good reason).
Second its not lazy at all. That's how you do things like this. There is 100% no reason for them to take the time to wait for udpated data. The point of a preview like that is to show how it works, and that is it.
API for d3 was never meant to go live with the game. They even said during beta there may not be any API for a rather long time if ever (it was not something they were 100% sure they wanted to do) during the beta they confirmed it might be something. Later came charater profiles idea, then the preview.
Most likely they worked on it a bit and made the preview, holding on to it for when the time was right to announce it.
I know it's not exactly the topic being discussed actively, but I really think it would have been a good idea to let 2h weapons get an additional socket (or more) to make them more interesting vs dual wield.
EDIT
Screw it. You're probably not worth reasoning with.

Because, there HAS to be something to rage about. That's a running theme with D3. Blizzard could send every single person who purchased D3 a gold-plated Ferrari and people would find something unacceptable about that. It's ridiculous. Blizzard has a lot of things they haven't done "right" with this game, but re-using that screenshot is so fucking ridiculously minor. Furthermore, it's not even a screenshot, it's original artwork. So re-doing it actually has a significant time component in that you can't just go in-game and hit print screen and you're done.
People want things done, they want them done yesterday, and they want it to cost nothing. Anything that falls short of any of that will be labeled as "failure."
It's a design mock up. Why are people spending so much time analyzing it?
Because critical thinking is a thing of the past. Because being able to say "in the bigger picture, this means nothing," is a language most of the newest generation doesn't speak.
People are so busy analyzing everything that they end up understanding nothing.

Blizzard caters to millions of gamers maybe they should step up and hire more people. And no, it's not very professional to use outdated materials to introduce new features. I doubt Pepsi or Coke would use an advertisement campaign from 1920 to introduce the new drink of 2013. Blizzard plays in the big league now and they behave like a bunch of kids sitting in a garage making games. Maybe it's because I sit in Germany and we have different standards but still considering their past record they really need to get their shit together. And this screenshot alone creates unneeded debate about what ifs and what nots about the state of the game and if something like a two socket weapon is planned for the future or not. The screenshot created question in the community that were totally unnecessary.
Sorry but no. Make a valid argument please. Blizzard needs to stop f***ing up.
but... coke has done that...
And hiring more people would not be the solution.. if they hired more people it would go to working on the profiles or other api's itself, and not spent on re-doing a silly design preview that means nothing in the long run. Hiring more people would not solve anything. There comes a point where hiring more people just hurts.
They are not being lazy, they are being smart. Getting the actual profile and API done.. and not spending time on previews.

1) You use to be able to add sockets to items, it was removed
2) Looking at all the data on that page, it clear it was just demo data to fill it.
