finishing major overhaul : 2months
polishing : 2months
stuff they do before release and after game is finished : 2months
my estimate is we'll play Diablo III in July
If the major overhaul needs some other overhaul because it "doesn't feel perfect yet", add 6 months (january 2013, or december 2012 if lucky).
My 2 cents...
LOL. i find it gut-busting hilarious when people seriously think its going to come out in the summer, let alone past the summer into 2013. we'll all be playing by may at the latest, you can bet your life on that.
Touche. I find it equally amusing that people think it will be out in march or even april. Mid June i think is the most likely if things go well. More overhauls, while unexpected, if they happen, could easily delay into 2013.
To each their own, and only time will tell.
while this makes me laugh i guess your setting yourself up for a nice surprise? because when it comes out in march-april you'll be like "wooopIE!" as to where ill just be like "i knew it" lol.
but really? thinking the beta will run for 14+ months? rofl...
I guess so. I just have followed enough blizzard releases to know that getting my hopes up has never paid off, and never will. I get my hopes up in a quality release that will be fun to play for years, that will pay off for sure. A release date "soon"? No chance. They delayed SC2 for over a year after its first release date. No reason they can't / won't do the same with D3.

huh? they never released the beta and announced a release date for SC2 a year before it came out. (were talking about beta's of blizz games not release 'window' announcements).
snags in games happen but the longest beta for blizz has been cataclysm with about 6-7 months which was because of massive issues, were bout to see 4 months of D3 beta on the 23rd of this month and MAYBE it will surpass the cataclysm beta by a smidge at the most. we'll have a better idea of the beta duration window after the development announcement im sure. you also have to remember that the beta build currently could and most of the time is very outdated compared to what they are internally testing.

you will get the release date at the 4th Q (also sums up the year) investor conference call in early Feb. If there isn't a real date then expect the stock price to fall yet again down by at least 5% which ATVI can not afford right now, especially for the gaming 2012 outlook. This game will in-fact get forced released for investor confidence

Sometimes you don't always know where you stand... until you know that you won't run away.
I'm not to sure how accurate this information is but Futureshop and Bestbuy in my area say Diablo 3 is shipping to their warehouses Feb 28th, They have had D3 on their site for year's but this is the first time any date has been put to it.

Like stated at least a thousand time on those forums, retailers dates are purely speculative. Retailers, consumers, fans, cats, dogs, fish and aliens will all know at the release date at the same : When Blizzard announce it. No one else will know beforehand.
i expect Q2- early Q3 at the very latest. they arent revamping the whole game. they removed a ton of shit as in past tense, these changes are DONE internally. so its only the runestone/skill system they have to work on for the next few months non stop to release the game.
After Bashiok's post I think the game will still get released in "early 2012". The main reason for my nerdrage is the fact that this was the supposed culprit for the delay...that's bs.
We hope for "early 2012" but in reality, something will push it back to be released mid to late 2012.

Bashiok - Blizzard Representative - 08/01/2011 -"So how many skill combinations are there now? Well taking into account 6 active skills, all the rune combinations, and 3 passives we currently expect each class to have roughly 2,285,814,795,264 different build combinations."

I no longer have any idea. Diablo 3's release/release of release date will be a total surprise. I have a love/hate relationship with surprises. I wish I could forget about this game until it's out
What i am also wondering about is the fact that the twitter contest will end next week, and no 'new contest' is announced. This could be a very good thing, maybe a little hope for a open beta.
Nah they said they're not doin a open beta...unless they announce a myspace contest as well!
ah very true. the free pass and marketing make sense UNLESS they delay MoP further. extremely doubtful, im 100% postive its coming out before summer.

Or we don't get the date then... In Which case there's not even a point guessing >.<
However, he article next week will be the "key" to seeing if the feb meeting will be the "key"
So next week I'll know if I think April or latter

Usually CEO speaks, for Blizzard Michael Morhaime used to speak.
how so? because of the system changes? lol....
