Keep in mind everything detailed in the article today is already in the game, and most of it is complete. Once you get Patch 10 and see that, I think it may sink in that these aren't theoretical changes we're still working on, they're changes we've completed. Obviously the potion button still needs a little work to hook it up correctly, and the character attribute changes need to be balanced and tested for itemization throughout the game, but overall these are changes we've already made.
I do not intend to impress that we're close to release, or infer any such "we're <-- this --> done" kind of statement, but most of these are fairly straightforward changes that are already complete and implemented. We do have more changes, skills and runes, affixes to add, more items, Battle.net features, testing, testing, and more testing etc. to do so we're obviously still not there yet, but none of the changes detailed today are theoretical or yet to be implemented.
so calm the F down lol. all they have to work on is skill/runes for the next few months to release the game, so they can stop focusing on all that stuff cuz its DONE.

It's been taking so long, and will continue to take so long, because they will keep making changes forever, tell us they have made changes, then go and change things again. Just because the current changes are done means nothing, the previous changes were done and then discussed and that didn't do anything either.

why does everyone ignore the big yellow part? Bashiok said its not close to release.

Yeah, thank you, exactly. Calm down? First of all he says "not close to release".
Secondly, the changes that he DIDN'T detail but mentioned are being changed (skills, runes, etc.) could EASILY take months and months and months.
You know who needs to calm down? It's the Blizzard employees. They need to quit maintaining this nostalgic, normative view that every one of their releases was perfect or some shit like that. Every one of their games is awesome, but there is ALWAYS something, even some huge mechanic of the game, that needs to be adjusted afterward. It was true of Diablo, Diablo II, Starcraft 1 and 2, of WoW and every WoW expac that has come out, and it will be true of Diablo III. No matter how long they spend tweaking and fiddling and fixing and fucking driving us insane with delays it will NOT be perfect on release. Period. They need to get over themselves, and realize that it's much more realistic to say "We want to make a bad ass game, WITHIN THIS PERIOD OF TIME." Having a carte blanche, don't have to answer to anyone, take as a long as you need is ultimately counterproductive.
At this point I smell Q3, as much as it breaks my heart to say it. Why? Because that's exactly how they're talking right now. The words they're using smell of months and months of development left.
So either they're lying to us, or they can still say "yes "early" 2012". It has to be one or the other, not both.
I disagee, I believe we should complain even more. I like the new stats, except for the fact they have to balance all the affixes AGAIN AND AGAIN... I hate the new salvaging and new white items, and dedicated pot button, So dumb these changes are. They are degression if anything, and the fact that not a single word was said about runes/skills besides "It's still not done" Pisses me off beyond belief. Don't expect this game for a couple of months because that has been in development since before blizzcon this past year, and they've yet to finalize it which means they're taking way to much time with their decision making. Clearly they were lying when they said the game was in polishing stages because this isn't polishing this is pure redesigning the games foundation.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
"No one will remember if the game is late, only if it's great."
I have to 100% disagree with this statement. When people look back at D3, they will of course remember, oh ya, this is the game that took forever to come out, this is the game they would never commit to a release date. People will tie this game with the likes of dare i say 'Duke Nukem Forever'. Lets just hope it isn't the pile of poo that game was. This company will forever be remembered as the company that takes forever to release a game. I could care less though, i'll play it when it comes out. But the general population will be thinking the above.
The more time passes, the less of an interest I have in this game. Combined with stupid changes like this...the future is uncertain.
My thoughts exactly. With each day I lose interest and each day we are getting close to Torchlight2 and GW2. And when those two hit the shelves, it's bye bye D3 for me because I just know Blizzard will still be 'oh, we are now reviewing the recommendation to revise the color of the manual and whether blacksmith's anvil sound should be tweaked ... and then we need to test, test, test'.
I am a very, very patient man but this is bullshit.
Use some of the millions they have and hire some actual talent that can work and hit deadlines.
I tl;dr the whole article. But from what I did read it was a whole bunch of taking shit out and second guessing. And the fact that he said people will remember it for how great it is, not how long it took to come out is a huge fucking joke.
Then he said something about the game could have been released as is and it would be fine was true but some bullshit about how it wouldn't be the way they wanted it. I feel stupid for asking them to come out and say something about the whole ordeal because this article made it apparent that they just bullshit anyways.
I'm happy that they care about making a great game. Seeing that it's my favorite game series, to me, that is important. But.. now we wait more? I'm running out of steam.
I'm sure all the people telling everyone to calm down have access to the beta.
>name = wishedhehadBETA
i wish :(. but no i dont. people need to calm down because blizzard wont suddenly release it because more people QQ. like they said against the art direction change: "even if you get 10 million people to sign the petition to change the art direction we still wont". that goes for people crying about release even more.
just because they have skills and runes left doesnt mean its going to take 6+ months. id say Q1 is definitely out the window at this point but Q2 isnt an insane leap. it would be kind of moronic though that they pushed it back into 2012 just to release it a couple months in. like people have argued before "early doesnt mean Q1, it means the first 5 months". i still fully expect a release date by end of march early april.
but for the sake of the mob and people getting mad id say if we dont have a release date by at least may then we should then take over blizzard, kill their CEO's and force release the game.

Would they remember that a game took over 10 years of development only to degrade into an exact clone of D2?
Not having played the entire game i would say you are bluffing.
That article said nothing about anything new being added to the game, only removing of features most of which were already done. Game isn't being delayed for new content, only existing systems. Existing systems that should be in the polishing phase and not the we're totally redoing everything phase, so look for D3 out in stores in 2013.
Asia is not what's holding us back. You'll see soon enough.
He was obviously referring to today's article (if you or anybody disagree, tell me what he may have been referring to please)...if he says this is what have been holding back the game, simple remove/add systems, I'll laugh in his face. 6+ months with this? I know Bashiok did just say that all this is already in the game and are basically finished, so why haven't we heard a release date yet? Because of the rune/skill system? BS. They've been at busy with that since before the Sep delay.

Haha, most of them yes probably!
