I really love D3, it takes up all my spare time - which isnt much. I read these forums daily and cannot stand reading the negative posts about d3.. so i'm posting in hopes of NOT being one of those negative posts.....
The new legendary upgrades look fantastic, but I just cant help not getting excited when I look at how much time I've already put into this game - over 200 hours - and in that time I've only found 2 legendaries, both being un-usable and both I found with NO MF gear on.. for the last couple of months I've been running around with 360 odd MF at 5 stacks and still not been lucky in finding a set or legendary item..
As cool as the upgrades look, I dont know if I'm willing to put in another 200 hours to attempt a better experience of the game with 1.0.4.. items in AH are way too exp, I've never been over 4 mill gold, so buying these items is out, I'd rather pay my mortage than buy an item in AH with real money and who knows if the drop rates will make seeing even 1 of these items possible.. that item with 100% GF and gold on hit, OMG I so badly want to try those... but how, I just dont see the light
I think "think" with 1.04 they will fix magic find bc it is clearly broken. I have been playing over 400 hours and found about 11 uniques( all sucked but 1)... but like you it was more towards the beginning and b4 i hit act 3 inferno. Now that i can farm act 3 with no problem i have found 0 uniques (over 60hrs)....and yes i share your feeling of disappointment. Fingers Crossed.
Arent they improving drop rates on the set and Legendaries? I could have sworn that was part of 1.0.4
On a side note, I feel pretty bummed about the lack of the drops, despite having found quite a few (7 i think) over my 250+ hrs gameplay. Here's to hoping they'll make them more like D2 uniques drop wise.
I've had 147 hours and 2 minutes of playtime till date (Wiz@60, Barb@31 and DH@20). I've had 4 legendary drops - 2 from Barb and 2 from Wiz. The latest one has been transferred to my DH. The first drop was equipped by my Barb for about 4-5 dungeons (then sold on AH). The rest of the two were crap (and vendored). All this with base MF less than 25% on my Barb and zero on my Wiz.
So I guess you were unlucky. Only thing I can say is keep your fingers crossed and hope for the next legendary drop post-1.0.4.
bellow 4 mil after 200 hours is so low you are either vendoring most good things or spending everything on gearing all your chars
and ehh ...i actually pay my mortgage with rmah profits (not exagerating) thats hwo easy it is to make money in it
Ye, mostly spending on item upgrades ranging from 200k to 2mill.. my best sell was 2 items for 2 mill a piece (thats how I got to 4 mill). If I want to get my character to a level worthy of act 3 and 4 I'm looking at items selling at the top of the list which are always way over 20 mill a piece.. iLvl63 items drop for me but never seem to have stats worthy of that 5, 10 or 20 mill price range, I'm usually selling at around 500k. I need a bow, 200 mill is nuts, bows only slightly better than the one I found and am using atm range from 12 mill up.. its a never ending cycle of find-mid-range, try sell, drop price, try sell again, drop price, try again.. sold for a third of what I started at.
I would really appreciate "AH secrets", I browse AH a lot, so I THINK i'm knowledgable about the items I seek.. just cant break that 5 mill mark
As people have said before, they can't make every1 happy, sucks if the updates don't benefit you, but overall it is really good for the game and i'm super excited for it!

It is only for magic items, possibly rares. There was a blue post specifically stating that the 4x increased drop rate was NOT for legendaries. Yes it sucks, they should just make the drop rate for legendaries the same as D2 uniques.
I've had more luck than most of you but I probably play more and have more MF than most of you as well
With a full NV stack, when I swap my gear, I have over 400MF. I'll typically average about 1-2 legendaries a week depending on if I play much during the weekend or not. I've only had 3 set items drop but I've probably had about 20-30 legendaries drop over my play.
I wonder if increasing some of the legendaries to ilvl 63 will increase the amount of legendaries we see (especially in Act 3). In the past, if it determined that you'd get an ilvl 63 item to drop you had a 0% chance that it'll be a legendary since there are none. I think this has a decent factor on the amount of legendaries you'll see while farming Act 3.
I farm act 3 inferno with 0 MF (except 5 stacks) and i have gotten 15+ legendary items (i have around 500hrs played) so just chill because they drop, and the new ones will drop also, besides the game is getting piss easy (which i hate) so u will farm even faster.

I ve had 7 legendaries drop for me during a warriors rest farming day with 150 magic find (all within 24 hours) now with better magic find I am seeing nada. i guess my luck ran out.
I've found like 100+ legendaries (300h), including complete natatya and immortal king sets :). Running a2 with 300mf tornado barb, i am able to farm a3 with ~100mf but i found it not as efficient as a2 and much more boring.
Holy sh1t dude, 100 legs! 300MF act 2... hmm, ok I'll give that a bash then

That seems like some really great luck. I always wondered how much people exaggerated about their lack of legendaries. I have around 160 hrs played on my Monk and have seen upwards of 50 or so legendary items. Granted, none of them were very useful, but they drop consistently enough. One time I had 2 legendaries drop from 1 pack and the next group of normal mobs dropped a set piece. My head blew up lol
Regarding the rarity of legendaries, I actually have a strong fear that I have left some behind. I had one drop in Act 3 in the Arreat Crater - the very last zone before Azmodan. The color contrast was so low that I didn't even see it at first and was starting to walk away when I noticed it. It really makes me wonder/fear if I have had others drop in other places that got left behind.
Legendaries shouldn't be accesible to everyone. It's a item meta-game that is designed to entice the more "hardcore" crowd. If Blizzard increases drop rates then they are devaluing Legendaries as a tier. Rare items is what a normal level 60 character class should be decked out in, and then either that extremely rich guy, or that lucky fella is supposed to have a legendary or two.
I know in Warcraft Blizzard pushed the whole idea of equality and everything should be as easily accesible to the players as possible. But this isn't Warcraft, this is Diablo. And if you want to make the comparison, Legendaries should be the equivilant of Heroic Ulduar Proto Drake or Server first Lich King title. Not everyone should be running around in orange gear, or like I said it completely devalues Legendaries as a item tier and they might as well take the affixes and add them to rare drops.
Thanks god for my Business Nose...
I bought like 10 Legendary Recipes, before the Prices blew up
My Friends even laughed at me... hahah look at him... he got to much gold and buys crap...
Now i am laughing^^
Got 3 60 Recipes (1Mio a pop).... i gonna be RICH !!!

I figure I should actually add to the topic on hand, rng is rng cliché.
Sitting at 250 hours or so found 13 legendaries so far, 75-100 hours has been in inferno, 4 legendaries have been found here. I have 0MF for most of these finds; I've recently obtained 100MF worth of gear and have found 2 legendaries since.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
Bottom line; now that they look to be pretty awesome, their relative scarcity is 100% justified. I don't want to find a legendary every 2 hours. I want to find one once in a great while and get super excited because I know I just found something that is special and that I can use.
*That* is what makes them fun. If they are relatively common then they lose their appeal.
