Have anyone figured it out how to stop them from regenerating to full hp? I'm not talking about the small hp ticks, I'm talking about instant heal.
Yesterday I smashed my headphones. Took me about 15 minutes to bring a pack to near death, just to find out that they healed to full. It's retarded.
Me and a friend took FOREVER to kill a rare elite with the vampiric affix. We'd get him to below half life and then he'd be full up in a matter of seconds. We changed up skills again and had another go at him with the same results. We changed up skills one more time and took him down easier, but it was still a hard fight.
We've run into champ packs with the vampiric affix and NEVER had issues with those, so I don't know why some are harder than others, but I imagine it has something to do with the other affixes they have. The rare elite we encountered was vampiric molten and some other affix.
Now every time I see a vampiric affix I go "oh crap. noooo!". lol
Yellow mobs (the main guy) will almost always get his total health back if you die. Unless you get back to him super quick.
Blue mobs will get their health back over time. If they do not take damage for ~10 seconds (like during your rez timer), they seem to get it back immediately. But if you are alive, their health regens much slower. Like if you cannot find them or go in a different direction to create kiting room.
That's what I've noticed at least. It, essentially, gives you 4 tries on each blue pack. 2 3 second timers, than a 7 second one. Then you are screwed. I think the 4th death is 11 seconds.
You can mitigate this by dragging blue packs to your spawning point, which gives them less time to get their health back.
I have died so many times in this game that I must say that you guys can't be right.
Sometimes a mob doesn't heal for a very long time (1mil), sometimes they do it few seconds after I die. This seems very random and I want to know the cause behind it.

I can attest to this. Each rare pack will heal a small amount after you're dead, but it seems like it's completely random as to whether or not they heal up to full health after a few a seconds after you're dead. I've seen some heal to full within the 3 second res timer and i've seen some stay at 5% health for the entire 5 minute run back through a long dungeon.
There just doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to it.

It was molten. I'm pretty sure that the health steal works if you take any damage from them, including the molten puddles (it works with pestilence). It's possible the molten explosion after a mobs death stole a bunch of hp. Also, if there was health link, then healing one could heal all of them.

The OP is specifically talking about post-death of the player where the mobs instantly go from whatever health they were at to completely full. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It appears to be completely random He's not talking about them healing with vampiric and/or other affixes active during the fight.
They will reset typically if your res timer is over 10 seconds except if you have an NPC following you, like Leah. They reset based on a certain amount of time not being in combat.
Edit: Note if an NPC is in your group (Leah, etc) and you don't get back to the pack in time, they will reset as well.

welcome to inferno where the mobs insta heal when you die

Yeah... except that's not true. Sometimes they instantly heal up on player death, sometimes they don't, just like OP says. To me it seems completely random as well.
