Hey, I can't post on the D3 forums so I wanted to ask some people here. Now I just updated my video card drivers today and I wanted to know if I should rerun the beta opt-in program to test my system specs or does this not matter?
If your old vidcard was very old and below average and your new card is commonplace or above average then I would say:
Ethically, yes you should update your info.
Now if you want your chances of getting into the beta to be as high as possible I would not update the info.

Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...

Well, I wasn't updating the card itself but just the drivers of my ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series from 11.7 to 11.8
Might as well update it takes like 10 seconds. I just updated all my drivers and then updated my profile a few days ago. Apparently the blizz tool showed me having 2.74GB on my video card where it only showed 1.0GB before I updated my drivers. (I have an Asus EAH6950) Apparently my video card is stealing my ram memory, at least according to the properties.. not sure that even makes sense.
arn't the keys suppose to be a lotto or is it gonna be a lotto above a certain spec ?
I doubt there will be anything "lotto" about it until they enter the stress testing phase. I believe they're current testing how the game will run on various rigs to iron out any compatablity issues that may arise.
i doubt it will make a difference. that tool doesn't even detect everything correctly. it doesn't show more than 9/10 of my hard drive space.. it says I have a 4GB video card (instead of 1GB)....
if you updated drivers that were over a year old, yes it matters alot. if they detect you have very old drivers, it would likely lower your chances to get an invite, at least in an early wave. they want the game on computers that are up to date with drivers (say... not older then 6 months) this prevents possibly issues that otherwise wouldnt happen with updated drivers.
I could be wrong but aren't many of the people being invited to the beta (of the few who have been) those with crappy, old hardware and whatnot? No doubt blizzard have great machines and are passionate about their hardware in their personal lives as well.
I really do not think they will check for updated drivers. and on the topic of "how good does my comp need to be" Well high end computers seem almost pointless to test on, of course they will run the game and they will run it great, blizzard is not making diablo 3 on a low end machine, they made it on top of the line equipment, there employees have top of the line equipment in the office and probably at home. They need the average consumer specs to test on. As the % of people who have beast computers is way lower then the % that has low-mid range computers. I consider myself tech savy and I build all of my own computers and I even only have a mid range computer. I would even say its low end as my MB is ancient but I got lucy since the bios update allowed for a quad core. Time will tell though.

That's both correct and incorrect tbh. Yes, they want to test the average consumer specs, but they must still test all kinds of systems. While the game will probably run great on high end systems it's still not pointless. Who knows, there may be a specific bug that only appears on certain new high end hardware?
These "should I use X system to increase my chances of getting in" is getting a bit tiresome..
I say just submit what you use and hope for the best. Even if you get in or not, you won't even know if it was because you used X system or if it was just plain luck/bad luck(as part of the opt-in is based just random).
So I'd say just don't worry too much about it.
The only thing I know is that the new Nvidia drivers fail. I got the 8700M GT and I'm sitting on an old driver myself and will probably keep it that way. I can't see that being a factor in beta opt in.
No idea if it has any effect on whether you get an invite or not, but having just DL'd the Beta Patch 4.0 I did get a message stating that D3 detected my video drivers as being out of date and potentially causing performance issues with D3.

So simple answer, no. It does not matter.
