ok while reading one of the threads talking about canon hero and gender specific quests. an idea came in my head. now this is probably not going to happen but just play along.
"having alternate ending depending on which character you played"
just something i thought like 10 seconds ago and was wondering what you guys thought.
It really wouldn't be worth all the extra time and money creating new CG cinematics, animations, more speech files, etc. since most people are probably just going to do it once and then just do everything fast-like, as in grinding like made and finding items and completely ignoring the storyline.
Well im sure there will be different cinematic endings showing what happens to the class you chose the ending of the battle will be the same but what happens to the classes im sure will be different andings.
Yea, i also don't see the need for multiple endings, just the typical (non-rpg) Diablo way will do here.
(i'm looking forward to the cinematics, Diablo getting slain in D1 = sick, Diablo enterering hell in DII = sick, Diablo something in DIII better = sick also)
Yeah cinematics!
Something I really missed in Wow. You had those major raiding dungeons and events that you completed, but some ending cinematics would have been awesome.
If I remember correctly all the characters would have their own unique stories. But multiple endings like Fallout or Resident Evil would be an un-needed addition. Unique, Linear class story's are sufficient.
Well like previously mentioned, Blizz is making an evolving story line instead of a linear one. They do say that the NPC's and the world in general will react differently to various character types. I'm sure that with such a player related story line, Blizz should be making various end game cinematics to put the icing on the cake. However the general plot most definately won't be changing depending on which char you chose. Whoever was ment to die will die and who was ment to live will live. That's what I'm thinking. I hope they really put the char prologue/epilogue into D3 so to really get the player into who he is playing.

I agree completely (although i didn't knew Resident Evil had different endings? More of a Silent Hill fan myself). Diablo is a hack & slash "adventure" (not in the "point and click" sense, although, thats how the game basically plays, lol) with a linear and compelling story.
I'm a big fan of Fallout myself (Fallout 1 and 2) and those are imo what defines the cRPG genre. (much more then Baldurs Gate for example) The difference is that all the multiple endings it has are actually linked to what you did which is far beyond the freedom you get in Diablo, and for good reason cause apart from both having "stats" they really are not comparable and interchangable with one another. I would love to see another "new" Fallout (or game with the same depth and meaning and freedom and consequences, etc,...) these days too though.
Since the gaming industry is in a stage of growing right now, when games like those come out, it's when people can convince boards of directors to produce a crazy idea into a game, or even a social experiment. There is too much focus on the industry aspect of creating games right now, and we'll see ups and downs like this for the a long time. I personally believe that several great games are coming out inspite of this issue, but I also believe that a lot of revolutionary games are being ditched because when these gaming companies compete they have to some how measure quality, and it's totally bogus. If you know what I mean.
This game does not need alternate endings.
In the end you are merely just one of the heroes doing what all the others would've done... if you were to choose a different class..
If you want different things for different classes, then there's the Class-specific quests.
And this is just creepy...
