Okay guys.. I just want to stress how much I would LOVE for the economy in diablo 3 to be a little better than diablo 2's. I could go on diablo 2 with a new character (which I have done a few times) and make a very good character just by trading items. I would like to see gold implemented a little more than before. Highrunes make for horrible currency
while I'm talking about the economy and items.. I would also hope that blizzard doesn't revolve beating the competition around items. Sure, they should make a difference but they shouldn't be the whole deciding factor, especially PVP.
- My only complaints and hopes for the future. Other than this.. I believe diablo 2 is one of the greats
Yea I want more defined worth for every item.
And money to have more worth.(not multi spec with cash)
But some top tier items wouldn't likely to be sold with cash and that's fine by me, not everything should be bought with cash ppl can and will use items4items trade.

the gold should stay the way it is, only good for gambling rings or amulets. the highlights of diablo's economy should be items.

Good post, I forgot all about the economy with all that 'pwnage' gameplay. I'd like to see Gold as a main currency for Diablo 3, as you say "High Runes make for a horrible currency".
It'll depend on what items you can buy from the NPC's with the gold because it all has to do with supply and demand. Gold in WoW was a good standard because the demand was high because of one thing, repair bills
I think I like the economy as it is in Diablo 2, only thing I'd like changed is the security on the duping, because everyone duped 3/20/20's and SOJs back in the day that ruined the economy. If there's no hacking/scamming/cheating/botting, the game's trading would be much better.
bartering can be a way to get items.. as it should be.. think about it.. diablo 2 had a currency.. HIGHRUNES.. why not make it gold? you can slowly build up gold.. not high runes (or at least the one's that are worth much).. just make the currency more accessible
by bound items i assume you mean items dropped for you are bound to you and no one else can use them ever...
that is retarded. what if you wanted to switch items for your own characters or if you wanted to delete a char but he had good items. if you can sell and trade items there will be no economy period.
if that's not what you mean please expand maybe you have a great idea.
don't hate me for saying this but yeah.. bound items to the character.. it works for WOW, who deletes wow characters? not many people unless it has crap on it? stable economy vs. you transferring items for some random and possibly stupid reason. Get a character and stick with it.
- also.. bind on equip? bind on pickup? and no bind at all can be used.. the items can still be sold if they are bind on equip and you haven't equiped them!

I agree with you one-hundred percent. They should make the gold have some value so that items and gold can be both the currency in Diablo.
if it works for WoW does it mean it'll work for D3?
Not really. Different games. As I understand it, WoW isn't as item dependent as Diablo.
[b]My take on the Economic of Diablo[b]
There was a huge problem with the economy in diablo II, gold was worthless. But it wasn't worthless because there was too much of it, it was worthless because it served no purpose.
So, to fix this problem, while retaining the treasure hunt aspects and the majority of the gameplay, I suggest that npc's offer high cost, desirable services, that anyone would want.
Some Services they could and/or should offer :
Horadric Cube Use
Expanding your stash size
Socketing Items
clearing sockets
Respecing Stats
Respecing Skills
Obviously, these would be priced in a way that prevented you for exploiting any of them. Against my better judgement, I'm going to wait for someone to attack me before I defend my stance on this topic.

I actually think that this is a good idea. That is very rare. I do not know what the logic would be for forgetting skills, and being able to get another skill, or suddenly losing 100 Magic and suddenly gaining 100 Strength, but... I would much like to see this implemented in DIII.
If gold was used more often, I dont think we would have to worry about grinding. You guys are forgetting that this isnt Warcraft, this is Diablo where the gameplay is FUN. I would actually want more reason to kill monsters rather than just bosses.

It would so much that you wouldn't be able to make huge shifts like that. It would be more gears towards smaller tweaks.
For the Stats, say you picked up an item that would be great, but you don't have enough strength to use it, and won't for 3-4 levels. This gives you a chance to get there all the much sooner.
Skill respecs, sometimes you hit a hard patch, and need a new, or stronger skill to get through it. Simple shit.

Personally, I perfer bartering
My YouTube Channel
no way bc with d2 potions might as well be free especially in hard core since all you had was gold.
Gold needs to be something. In order for that to happen there has to be an NPC that sells something we players need and that item to be expensive.
