while there is no way to truely know just yet what monsters will be in d3, its still fun to imagine what could be in it. Diablo and its sequel had some pretty cool unique, and super unique monsters or "Boss" monsters, here is your chance to design one.
no giving stats for you boss, there is a tendency for some people to make super ubers monsters that are so insanely powerful, 10,000 damage, 500,000 life and so on, just give what attributes they have although there is no way to truely know what attributes will be in the came but more than likely it will include some of if not all of the ones from D2/LOD, things like extra strong, extra fast, fire enchanted, multiple shot....
I have included location even though it is entirely speculation.
Type is what they are, Skeleton, Zombie, Urdar, in brackets is their class, Undead, Demon or Animal.
Weapon is just what the use, please dont give details of what weapo nthe use, i.e dont say the use the Grandfather, just say they use a sword.
Examples
Name: Daemonlord Archaeon Type: Balrog (Mega Demon) Class: Demon Attributes: Extra Strong, Fire Enchanted, Magic Resistant Weapons: Axe and Whip Location: The Burning Hells Description: a powerful demon, who attacks using a massive axe and a huge whip, Image (if applicable):
scale isnt quite right, but the look is right.
Name: Arbash The Death Knight Type: Defiled Warrior (Reanimated Horde) Class: Undead Attributes: Extra Fast, aura Enchanted, Magic Resistant Weapons: 2 Handed Sword Location: a Graveyard (somewhere) Description: a powerful armored Undead knight, weilding a massive sword. Image (if applicable):
No pic available
and as always, no ripping off other sources, and dont go being an idiot and try to point out that that is just what i did, i cant enter this contest anyway so it doesnt matter if i borrowed an image, but it does matter if you do.
you dont have to include an image if you dont want to, but it is nice to see one.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
but the family that they come from is Blunderbore. Blunderbore, Gorebelly, Mauler and Urdar are collectively called Blunderbores. just like Venom lords, Pit lords and Balrogs are collective known as Mega Demons
in diablo for Mega demons you have Balrogs, Guardians, Slayers and Vortex lords, yet in D2/LOD only Balrogs returned. we dont really know which exact monsters will return but we do kind of have an idea of what family of monster will return. Skeleton, Zombie, Mega Demon, Succubus and Knight (to a lesser extent) all returned in D2/LOD
i edited my first post to better include the type of monster it is, Urdar, Gorebelly, Venom lord, as well not everyone is going to know the family, but the will know the type.

I guess I was confused cause you showed examples of what type of monster they could be. And under types, you listed Urdar. And since there are demons, undead, etc, I thought maybe this was a common type of monster I wasn't familiar with and not a specific one.
ok now that that id cleared up i can now look forward to the entries.

i dont personally draw the pictures accompaning my examples if that's what you mean, i actually break the rules, the weapons and armor examples were from Baldur's Gate II, and the one above is from Warhammer and the NPC is actually Qual Kehk from LOD, but since i cant enter these contests the rules technically dont apply to me. but the apply to all entries, you can change an existing pic so long as you show the old one, but no plain stealing of images (like what i did, but i was just showing examples of the types of things you could design, thats why i borrowed images, i borrowed for explanitory purposes, not for entry purposes)
hell look at the image above, bottom right corner it actually says warhammer on it. one could take it as an example of what not to do in regards to images.
the examples i provided are more for guideline purposes, esp. in regards to this contest and the NPC contest, they show how to structure your entry.

Name: Hezroch the Empty Type: Warrior Void (Voidfiller) - new type Class: Undead Attributes: Extra Fast, Critical Hit, Aura Enchanted (Fanaticism), Resistant to Physical Weapons: Spiked axe Location: Chamber of Shadows (Hell) Description: An undead shade that infests a blank set of armor or abandoned equipment and fills the void of it's previous owner. Uses plain electric attacks if a weapon is not included with the equipment. If a weapon is included, electric damage is added to 75% of the strikes. Many variants of the Voidfiller are found sparsly throughout Sanctuary and the Burning Hells. Image (if applicable):

Nice work Acid! (Uh-oh, mine looks kinda like that!).
yes a very good first entry.
and Jetrall you can still enter with a similar looking Boss. Infector of Souls a Venom Lord (Mega Demon) in act 4, is very similar to Ventar The Unholy another Venom Lord (Mega Demon) in act 5, at least in the way the look.

Here is something that sketched up last night, I'll try and re-do it and put in more detail:
Name: The Unbeloved Type: Banshee Fiend Class: Demon Attributes: Mana Steal, Stone Skin, Magic Resistant, Aura Enchanted (Prayer) Weapons: Claws and Magic, Corpse Explosion (Upon Death) Location: Gates of Oblivion (Entrance to the Underworld) History:
Before she was burned alive, the Countess bathed in the blood of 100 virgins. To do this, these virgins were taken to the depths of hell and bled dry. But because they were the purest of souls on the earth, these women could not be killed by demons. So they were cursed to live as the undead lived, but with their lives still in tact and with that, they would still feel the pain and sorrow of any other mortal being.
With this curse on their being, they were tortured. Stretching all of their limbs and appendages, then starved until they were nothing but skin and bone. The only part left indentifiable was their faces. Still showing their pure innocence and beauty, their faces were kept hidden from the demon world because to stare into their eyes would be instantly fatal to all who gazed upon them. Demon or No.
Then, left to guard the Gates of Oblivion from all who tried to venture within, these souls would live for eternity cursed and controlled by their hatred of all that is good.
Description:
A creature about eight feet high, slumped over within a suit bearing the crucifix, lowering it to a height of about six feet. Long thin arms and legs, each with their respective appendages elongated and bearing razor sharp claws. The mask they wear is carved from Bone, having a rather eerie look about it, seeming to taunt you at every gaze.
Upon arrival at the Gates of Oblivion you would be approached by 100 of these beasts. All of which you would have to defeat to enter Hell. Image (if applicable):
Name : Holy Alazim Type : Resurrected spirit Class : Paladin Attribute : Auto heal ( If left without hitting for 3 seconds ) , Magic resistant , Aura enchanted ( Can enchant random auras) Weapons : Lord's Long Sword Skills : Zeal Location : The Halls Of Nightmare ( The Last Station Before Hell's Gate )
History :
This paladin was banished in hell for a mistake he didn't do . But when he resurrected he pledged of taking his revenge from all the people who were responsible for banishing him.
When he tried to escape from hell to the open lands he discovered that he wasn't able to cross the gates of The Halls Of Nightmare and was caught there for ever.
From that day he's not letting anyone pass through the halls to the Hell's Gate.
Description : This creature was able to recover its items and soul but was not able to recover his body , so now he's just items levitating in the air.
He can be killed only by damaging his items very badly.
He has power equal to half the power of uber Baal.

He can be killed only by damaging his items very badly.
Is that by like reducing his armor's durability to Zero? And if so, does that mean that stuff like 'Damages Targets Armor' would hell make him piss and a weapon with 'Ignores targets defence' would never hit him?
Or is that like just in the context of the story, not the actual way to kill him?
He has no body so u are forced to hit his items only.

Yeah damaging greatly means reducing durability greatly.
