I currently have poison damage on my zumi's boots and a stone of jordan. I'm looking at buying a new stone of jordan for higher % dmg to elites, and I'm not quite sure how this all works - it's a little confusing.
I know that these modifiers only modify the "black" (non-elemental) portion of your weapon's damage. But I've read that they add their % to the damage as whatever element they are. For example: You do 100 damage wearing 7% zumi's boots. You hit for 100 damgae + 7 poison damage.
So my question basically, is do I have to look specifically for poison damage on the stone of jordan, or will any damage type work? My primary is bears, if that matters.
I use a SoJ with 6% poison. I really dont think the type of dmg SoJ adds matters at all (except for Ice as it slows mobs down).
Way i see it is like you said, if i deal 100 dmg it adds 6 to that.
So if in one swing i land 100k dmg SoJ just adds a nifty 6k to that ammount and i should see 106k dmg onscreen.
Plz explain to me if i am wrong.
Oh BTW, SoJ is the best ring in this game hands down.
I have poison from zuni's boots and lightning from the ring. They stack.
I've confirmed this by using a damage calculator online with 12% elemental plugged in (it doesn't ask which type) and my damage was the same as in game, so the game must be using the combined total.

I believe the way the Frostburn Gauntlents work is:
-Adds X% to Cold Damage
**works on "+cold damage" on a weapon AND to skills dealing damage as cold
-Cold Skills Deal XX% more damage
**increase damage of ONLY skills that deal damage as cold
In this case i don't see how these Frostburn gloves for example would do anything to a skill like the zombie bears that is dealing damage as poison.
Maybe i'm wrong... but this seems logical to me.
