so ive watched WD beta playthroughs with the dogs and i havent seen any of them die... ever... but it is only normal and health globes also heals your pets so i see why, but do they have a SHARED health bar or individual? im not sure which would be better, i guess thats situational and how much overall life they have.

The 3 share one healthbar. I guess its because its a skill, and the skill is attached to 3 zombie dogs.
So if one loses 50% of its health would they all go down to 50%, or would it divide between them? I haven't seen them die either, so I don't know if one dies if that's the only one, or if they all die. I guess I could go test this, but I think it would be difficult to get them to die in the beta. <.<

your in the beta? (bastard cough*) well i think looking at it they share health but its overall so if one dog takes 50 dmg the life bar overall goes down 50, not like a piece. so if one dies they all die.

I wasn't sure if they still had individual health pools but only the average health between the three is shown at the top of your screen.
Edit:
It's hard to tell, but I think you're right about it all being one shared health pool. They all died at the same time when I had them fighting Skeleton King. They weren't all always caught in his AoE, so there's no way they were all taking the same amount of damage all the time.
It's weird though, they will all die at the same time, but when you dismiss them it dismisses one at a time.
There is a videos of someone testing witch doctor pets, it was put in a thread somewhere around here(dont remember if it was this forum or diablo3.com),but anyways, it's shared health, but they only die 1 at a time.(They were testing dps/hp/armor with and without gear against king leoric), when the bar got to about 1/3rd, 1 died, but another didn't die.. I still don't know if it's because they have their own HP and they made 1 bar to simplify it or if 1 dies every 3rd of the hp bar gone period.
There's only 1 health bar for all 3 dogs but I believe they each have their own individual health. At the very least, I can verify that it's possible for one dog to die while the other 2 remain alive.
Up by the dog's portrait, there's a number telling you how many dogs are remaining. When you first summon them, there's a 3 up there. When I was playing through, I noticed at one point the number went down to 2 and that's when I realized I had been running around with one of my dogs dead.

If the dogs have a shared health bar at the top of the screen, then how is the health calculated? Does it take the average health of the dogs, or the max, or the min of the remaining dogs?
Well it obviously doesn't take the minimum, because we don't see it jumping around when one dies. It wouldn't take the max because that would be useless. So I'm going to say it takes the average.
It's hard to tell without having the beta, but i remember to see my friend playing a WD having 2 dogs up and the health bar was full. So maybe its an average like skelly said. So it would be like a 300% hp bar if a dog falls to 50% they'd be at 250% of 300% hp bar which is at 83% of the actual real bar. If the same dog with 50% dies. the bar auto adjust to 200% with 2 dogs been at 100% already making a portrait of a full health bar? It would be actually a very weird mechanic which make me think i am wrong.Althought all 3 dogs been at 50% would show a health bar being at 50% of its capacity.
It's not an average; the bar always appears full until you have one dog remaining, and then you actually see it decrease. Until then it's full and there's just the number of dogs you have.
