With the latest front page post by Blizzard about showing off class skills with little video's they say, and I quote, "Starting today, we're going show off some new, some improved, and some previously unseen class skills that you'll use to slaughter your way through Diablo III's acts."
The new skill tidbit caught my eye for a couple reasons, one being we have always had the least amount of active and passive skills. The second big indicator to me that we will be seeing some new monk skills come's with the update to the skill calculator. I'm not sure we will see any more active skills, but i'm almost certain we will be getting at least 2 new passive skills, but more than likely 3.
If you go to the passive skill page for the monk (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/class/monk/passive/) you will notice our passive's all unlock by level 25, where every other class has passive's unlocked all the way up to 30.
It's not a lot to go on, but I just have a feeling the Monk is going to get some love before release
i hope so... for some reason when they add new skills to the monk they always remove the old ones (Combination Strike and Hand of Ytar, Lethal Decoy and Cyclone Strike)
btw, that adds more delay to the game release date... let them add stuff in patch instead
I don't believe that at all, the Rune system as we know it now has been in development since August, they are good at keeping things under wraps and if they have been thinking about adding skills to the Monk i'm 100% positive they have already been testing them for a while.
I hope they add more passive skills to the monk. The low amount of passives in that character bothers me alot.. It's one of the reasons why i don't like the monk at all.
The monk definetly needs more diversity... Tornado Strike was a step in the right direction imo. Hope they keep fixing him.
i want a passive that allows you to use 2 mantras while doubling there cost something like beacon of ytar but for mantras, i think that would be awesome
To be completley honest i feel monk should be on track with the 4 other classes. Monk is the class with the lowest amount of skills
they've only got 34 skills. while the mage have 40 and the barb 38(the witch doctor and demon hunter too)
To me this seems rather unfair when it comes to class customiszation so i really hope they would some more skills for the monk.
But i'd prefer if they would add them after the game comes out xD, i just want to get my hands on it TBH !
i hope not is good this way if the monk remains like this ..
Though I agree with that sentiment, the Monk still has the least amount of skills among all the classes and as soon as the possible skills are revealed i'm sure will be an invaluable inclusion to some builds. Possibly even be so bad ass they make people make monks that otherwise wouldn't
Beacon of Ytar has returned! Reduce's cooldowns by 15%, not really huge but i'm sure it can be worked into some builds as a necessity. Mostly see it being useful for the support type monks so they can spam heals and such more often
Monk may have the lowest amount of passives, but we have some REALLY strong ones like One With Everything, Fleet Footed, Transcendence and Near Death Experience.
Chant of Resonance needs a reworking considering how easy it is to get Spirit addition/regeneration items. Combination Strike I'm still ambivalent about but we'll see how it works in retail.
They added a new passive, maybe its that one.
It reduces the cooldown of all skills by 15%. Which is crappy in my opinion :/.. We have 1-3 skills with heavy cooldown, which this passive will give us a whopping 3-4 seconds reduction on. Not worth a passive, I'm sure everyone will agree on that one. I'm guessing its there just to shut our whining about having the least passives.
I don't think anything needs to be "rather than", it should be on top of. I like Mystic Ally, every class has his pets \ companions, we should too.
But yea a giant fist similar to the style of Hammer of the Ancients that stuns or grabs an enemy could be awesome
With exploding palms and sweeping wind no longer generators it would be nice to see a new generator or two. I would like to have exploding palms back to a generator but alas I know that wont happen.
Fists of Thunder, Deadly Reach, Exploding Palm are all primary spirit generators.
There are also technique skills like Crippling Wave, Sweeping Wind, and Way of the Hundred Fists that also generate spirit up, as well as doing a deal more damage.

your are just giving yourself false hope because you want to believe.
It's not really a hope, i'm completely happy with everything the Monk has right now, I just see it as obvious. If not, then oh well

I hope we get a few more decent ones.
rather than summoning a "mystic ally" or rather a "Large Bell"
