I agree, forget anything other than slow crossbows when playing frost cluster arrow builds. Attack speed is completely irrelevant, it is worst stat now, I would take anything over it.
Unless you've got a kridershot, in which case your generator will also be critting for +100M and AOE'ing packs down plus triggering from your sentries, and AS is just fine <.<.
You need faster fill-ups. I wouldn't neglect AS completely.
chakram quiver and kridershot builds especially require each and every bit of AS you can get without hindering the other stats' balance too much.
I have acquired and played with several 1H weapons during PTR and I don't think they are inferior at all. What makes a 2H xbow a better choice is simply, the damage range being aligned to the higher end, nothing more.
One more neglected fact; Since we are ripped off any disc regen, an ancient 1H with hatred regen & max disc might turn out to be a best option in time..
The point is that bigger burst > sustained damage in most of the cases.
The new Mara6 made 1h way more viable then before, since the turret attack spped is the same of ours - no more breakpoints that reward 2h only (exception for Calamity). Still, 2h are better performing with the set due to the damage bonuses spenders get; you want the hardest hitting stuff available to get the maximum out of the bonuses.
On the contrary, the generator set may favor faster attacks since most of the damage comes form generators and we won't be resource starved.
