Hey guys, today I give an update on the Cold Seismic Slam build. I've looked at it before near the beginning of PTR, but since then rifts have been rescaled a bit and IK got a significant buff. I also acquired better gear (Ancient weapon among others) and have been able to spend more time playing with both HotA and SS to compare/contrast the two.
SS is actually a very similar gear/playstyle compared to HotA with two notable exceptions: staying at range vs. melee and static vs. mobile. I clear a G55 pretty easily, despite being tired and forgetting to fill out the first tab of my paragon points (and thus missing all movement speed and almost 750 strength), but it was still easy. Based on my testing so far, I believe SS and HotA will be close to each other. Enjoy & discuss!
1. If you are using fury of the vanished peak is tasker and theo absolutely necessary to maintain full resource?
2. If you are not using gravel of judgement would fury of the ancients without tasker and theo be enough to maintain full resource?
3. I plan to use lightning hota build. I know the current meta for lightning hota or any other hota is to use furious charge + strongarm + that cow head shoulder ( increase fc by 30% for each enemies hit) to increase damage. But wouldnt i output more damage and boost sustain if i use the shepard (that lightning two hand war hammar) + fury of the ancients shoulder + furious charge (for charging resource only)? does ik increase damage of electric shocks generated by the shepard? Could anyone try out this build?
If ik does increase damage output of skills from legendary item options. Wouldnt dual handed sword called scourge + hota be op??? Or at least double the damage output?
I would like to know what you think is better for speed farming T10 and pushing G.Rift +50's with.
Pros and cons for both. SS will be better in groups, HotA a bit better solo. SS is probably the best high GR group spec because of the stupid damage it can put out against tight packs (wtb pull monk). Charge/HotA (Raekor/IK combo) and WW/BK will be similar for speed farming.
Not sure tbh, haven't pushed too far, but probably comparable especially in S4. WW is sick good against trash, but really suffers against RG, but this is mitigated in S4 with Stricken gem (and less RG hp overall). Basically we have 3 viable specs, which is awesome.

1) For full resource, probably. Otherwise just drop Berserker Rage and and get rid of TnT.
2) For HotA, no you don't need TnT because of the attack speed boost on bracers. I just used it because I didn't have anything better.
3) Strongarms aren't that great for FC because it only procs on the little cone on impact. Vile Ward shoulders are solid for HotA/FC build though. Yes IK boosts Schaefer's damage because it boosts all your damage, but not enough to warrant its use.
If ik does increase damage output of skills from legendary item options. Wouldnt dual handed sword called scourge + hota be op??? Or at least double the damage output?
It does, since it increases your total damage. It wouldn't be OP though, or even used, because there are better synergistic items available.

I could be wrong but I am assuming by other synergistic items you mean gravel of judgement and furnace combo?
But as you answered in my second question if dont need gravel of judgement to maintain full resource why wouldnt furnace + shaefer or scourge or maximus or other elemental damage increase + skill triggering items be much more useful?
Yes, most sets/gearing strategies in 2.3 are 10+ items ideally. Look at U6 Monk for instance, that's a 12 piece set. Don't have all 12? Sorry, build no go without it.
I tryied this SS but i went physical as i have not much cold but i still managed to crit easy over 1 bil thats crazy fun, have a 4000dps weapon.
But i wonder how is the bonus calculated, ik now has 250%, my bracers that i got rolled 331%, i got 38% physical and focus and restraint 50% each, does the SS count all the bonuses in total or ?

Those are all separate multipliers. %SS damage is a separate multiplier as well.

How is WW build comparing to HotA and SS in 2.3 ?
"Do you guys not have phones?"

Yup, charge/hota and bk/ww are fastest t10 specs.

Yup, again pros and cons to both, and playstyle dependent.

Oh wow.... I didn't know about that 30~40% increase damage. Thanks! that explain things alot

so what would be the total damage output in my case then ?
"Do you guys not have phones?"
Try it and see, too many factors to make a good estimation.

yeah the game should show the total number added all together.. i hate guessing
