Is it more efficient to do longer runs in 4 player games and get 5 stacks of NV or to run 1 area solo clear it and restart game (eg fields of misery/dalghur oasis).
I wish that 'lastchanceforroaha' guy hadn't quit D3 as he used to be the experience data guru
If you can get into a effective 4 players game, I think it's better. I run around 1300% with 4 players and 5 NV...
Yeah I guess if you have a great set of friends who are all geared well and efficient then it makes sense.
However, if you keep being in 4 player random group where you are the one carrying everyone else or waiting for people to join, then even though you have 1300% experience, you might still be getting less experience than if you were running Solo with 800% experience in one zone like dulgar oasis..
I guess personally recording XP/Hour is a way to go.. just thought someone might have already done some data tests so I wouldn't have to do it
Have no data sets, but groups > solo IF the group is well-coordinated (i.e., everyone is contributing about the same and you're killing stuff together). The bonus XP is just insane because it's mulitplicative.
As for your NV question, as long as D3 existed, people seem to prefer shorter runs, some even seem to "enjoy" doing only one zone and then reset the game. I don't get this; logging in and out kills buffs, NV5, costs time, and especially in a group often causes unnecessary breaks. I personally prefer runs as long as possible, I wanna spend my time ingame not on the quest selection screen... as for NV5 XP, it's multiplicative as well, so you're definitely shooting yourself in the leg with shorter runs imho and I wouldn't reset but add some zones to your run.
Another thing I've heard is that since white mobs' XP was nerfed, elite packs are a good XP boost. Again, have no data on that, and as Archon wiz I have trouble with elite-pack filled areas like VotA to keep Archon up sometimes as compared to Weeping Hollow where I finish with 5m on timer on same MP; but I also don't run XP spreadsheets (because I don't care).
If your group can clear the same MP level just as fast as you do solo, group games will be much more effective for paragon leveling.
On average, repeating MP10 Festering Woods, Fields of Misery (with the Decaying Crypt) and the Weeping Hollow over and over in a span of an hour will yield more than 200M EXP. I can get about 130M EXP per hour running the route solo.
I think I'll do a brief paragon video soon just because leveling alts seems to be the fad now with the Paragon 2.0 news.

- http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/8796351234 - Nubtro did a great deal of theorycrafting XP/hour. This guy should get more attention. If you're not into numbers, someone created a TL;DR copy of Nubtro's thread
