the whole reason why i even put in all this time into this game was because there was money involved.
I cant believe people actually play a game that bores them just because there is money involved, when the game gets boring its time to sell all your gold and items and move onto hardcore
Also, your numbers are pure fantasy. A 4cc mempo has never been worth $500. 6cc ones go for 90-120.
what is 2000 x .25? 500? did i calculate that wrong? thats 2k x 1m = 2b = $500
and yes people were paying that much for gold cause like i said they believed gold farmers to be shady business or did not want to get caught doing so to get their accounts banned.
I don't think anyone mentioned it yet, though maybe Jaetch did, but as said, no one has bought gold off the RMAH for months. Instead, if they wanted to buy gold legitimately they bought GEMS from the RMAH and sold them for gold on the GAH. Radiant gems were about $1 on the RMAH before the patch, so about $1 for 20 mil gold, or 5 cents per million. That's only about $100 for a billion, if my math is right, not $500 like you are saying. Those prices didn't change too much with the patch, though they have changed some, but nowhere near the amount you are saying.
so i finally get a 1b+ item last night, 4cc 199 str 9% ias mempo, and i was so happy cause it felt like i hit the jack pot! then i checked rmah to see how much irl $ my gold was worth and reality set in.... 2b gold went from being worth $500 to $75 over night? are you kidding me? so now after 1600 hours played and finally getting my 1b+ item it doesnt feel rewarding at all.... im actually enraged! looks like i wont be putting in another 250+ hours and ill just be casually playing this every now and then cause really to me there is no point in fighting the same monsters over the same acts in the same exact areas over and over and over its pretty boring and not rewarding at all anymore. damn i feel bad for these guys that put in hundreds and thousands of dollars into rmah/gear just to see it worth nothing over night. pretty fucked up if you ask me!
the whole reason why i even put in all this time into this game was because there was money involved. the only game ive played besides this that ive put in 100+ hours into was quake 3 arena because that game was actually fun and there were real pros playing it. but this game hah i wont put in no more then another 100 hours because i see no point in doing anymore then that anymore.
back in the day with ra3/cpma, quake 3 arena mods, i was a god. i had any where from 60%-100% accuracy online with latency in ALL WEAPONS. i would take on entire clans by myself and win.
Pics or it didn't happen.
Or better though, get into any online FPS nowadays (CoD:BO2, CS:GO, BF3) and show us anywhere between 30-40% accuracy with an automatic weapon.
was getting hole in 1's in golf games when i was like 6 yrs old on very hard maps, i beat ff7 in 18-20 hours when i was like 11 yrs old, i also beat tekken tag 1 in 2 minutes 50 seconds play time on normal mode all perfects. so ya i am a real gamer trust me.
edit: also unlocked every single cheat code in golden eye 007 n64 when it first came out. i also used to get nothing but head shots in the original cs with 250 ping, dial up, and nothing but the glock and it was my FIRST fps.
Yeah, aren't you the most amazing player in the planet...
and just to let you know i never spent more then 150 hours on ANY game except quake 3 and cs. the only reason why i did with diablo is because i hoped to make money because i heard so many success stories of people making over $10k usd off of it.
If that's the only reason you played the game, I couldn't be happier that you failed in your endeavour.
well anyways im still going to do what i planned on doing in the first place getting my 1-2b item to drop, accomplished, and use that gold to flip the ah, made 40m off 1 item just now, and putting all the gold im going to flip into a pvp set so i can own you noobs and make REAL MONEY
Mate, you seriously need to grab some perspective if you even remotely consider making "real money" with D3. It just proves that you're probably not very mature and has no clue what the real world is like. And that's plain sad.
My record so far was a 900M ring I bought and used for myself, only to later sell it for 5b gold. Same with a 9/6 Mempo I got for 2b and ended up selling for 5b. Witching Hour for 1.5b later sold for $250 in RMAH. Ice Climbers I got for 3b off of another player and later sold for $250 in RMAH.
That's flipping. And it's a dying art. Flips happen player-to-player now with advertising via forums and trade channels, not so much with the AH because true quality items are hard to find there.
...Really, don't treat the game like a job. It's not worth it. I'm telling you from experience, you'll only face frustration and a boatload of time wasted.
well i started late cause i didnt think i could make a profit flipping low end items so i waited till i hit atleast the 1b mark to start flipping. i mean ive done it before started with 100k and made 100m by the end of the day but it just took too much work. i could just go back to farming and make my gold that way cause i get about 1-3 legs every 30 minutes and i just recently found this item and my bro found a tals chest he sold for 1b also since ive mastered the art of farming. ya i play video games for enjoyment also but d3 is getting old for me and the only thing that was motivating me was the money and the fact that im very good at dueling and i hoped to one day be one of the top pvp players and possibly get sponsored and what not like a real pro gamer. yall can say o just get a job get a job ya dude cause you think its sooooo easy for me hah. if you lived the life i lived you would have probably blown your brains out. try being schizo effective, try being homeless and hearing voices and hallucinating at night and only getting 1 hour at the most of sleep on the streets, try going to prison that your first night you got on the main unit you had 3 people in your room in the middle of the night with a shank to your throat or have a bunch of chicos try to kill you on the rec yard. or maybe try living poor and only being able to eat 1 meal a day. or better yet live with a very bad mental illness that takes control of you and then tell me how you made it. ya i know the real world but yall clearly dont, if i had a very easy sheltered life with many opportunities and open doors like most of you probably do then trust me i wouldnt talk down on people that have it rough or say your just a bum cause your not doing anything for yourself. nah cause i know first hand that its hard for some of us to do anything for ourselves. all i have is gaming and expertise in computers and yall clearly have destroyed my love for both.
You're talking like if you had an illness so bad that you couldn't move or anything... I mean I know so many people that have the same kind of problems as you and that are trying to work hard to make some living... Also, when you say "the fact that im very good at dueling and i hoped to one day be one of the top pvp players and possibly get sponsored and what not like a real pro gamer." is kinda stupid since blizzard said so many times that they didn't want that kind of game and that they would absolutely not make it like that...
OT: Does this guy even realize that "schizo effective" isn't a disease state? It's called being a schizophrenic person, or having schizophrenia. If you HAVE to refer to yourself as "schizo effective" at least say something like "I have schizoaffective disorder" so people can even follow.
I dunno, but to me it seems like some guy just got drunk and wanted to try really, really hard to troll some forums. If he's genuine then I'm actually really worried about his mental state...
See, these are the kinds of people who run the official forum into the ground. They are not diablo players. The only thing i continue to do in my life that i cant stand, is WORK. A job.
I found my first big drop yesterday and it came in hardcore. Not once did i ever wish i could see it for real cash. The item was of no use to me, so I used it to get items i did need. Made the game that much funner.
Those of you who are miserable because your pixel items arent worth much $ deserve your misery. No one gives a damn. Seriously. I used to read this forum and try not to be judgemental, keep an open mind, but good lord....

This, people don't even realize the REAL expensive items are not even touching the auction house anymore. The real auctions are occurring on d2jsp and other 3rd party forums (perhaps) due to GAH 2b cap for auctions. The funny thing is people insta bid the max or buy out times at the 2b cap and then flip on these sites for more. This isn't always the case but its becoming the norm.
Furthermore, there seems to be a HUGE influx in botting as of late as tons and tons of sellers are flooding that particular forum with unids in stupid large quantities. I'm talking like 120+echoing furys 70+mempos etc etc and on a daily basis (sometimes 2-3 times a day).
This game is turning into what d2 was, its economy is suppressed so much in certain aspects that another niche market takes place outside of the game.
i guess im wrong for trying to make money just off my gaming. i guess im wrong for trying to blame my problem on everything when its really just myself, just to add schizo effective isnt just schizophrenia its schizophrenia/bi polar. i guess im wrong for even mentioning anything on my mind and "poisoning the community". but hey its all good at the end of the day i know who i can lean on and i know who i can go to when i have my problems and trust me its not this site or you guys. its my father ABBA.

Really? I'm sorry you have delusions of grandeur when it comes to playing Diablo 3 and this forum. This is a place to provide thoughtful discussions, debates, and theorycrafting for stuff about the game. This is NOT a group therapy session about problems you have with not being able to make money off the video game. You clearlyu have not being following the economy if you thought 25c per mil was the going rate, news flash it hasn't been since probably October.
This isn't somewhere you can 'lean on' because you're too inept to realize that its just a video game, it was never meant to provide you with supplemental income, this game is an outlet to have fun or blow off some free time and play. The moment you became too concerned about making money is the moment you should have stopped playing.
I think we've all had enough of this, as most replies show - it's not even remotely a discussion (judging from the original post and the reactions to the replies).

If you want to flip, invest in 1b - 2b items.

Seriously. I don't want it to die. This is one of the most entertaining threads DFans has seen in quite a while!

And yes you are 'poisoning' these forums.
