So I was just curious about the angel wings that you receive from preordering the Collectors Edition. Is there a code that comes with it in the box or does it automatically give them to you when you install the game? I ask this because I pre-ordered the CE but it will not come till about May 19th or 20th, so I ordered the regular game to play while I wait and was wondering if I will still be able to use them.
It will probably just be attached to the CDkey from the CE. However if memory serves, several blue's and dev interviews have stated that even though you can only have 1 D3 license per account, you WILL be able to enter a CE code to override a SE license already on your account, and have it upgrade. After this is done, you can just make a new character, throw the CE wings and dye into your shared stash and transfer it to your main character. This is what I'm planning to do atleast.
I also seem to remember Bashiok saying that you would even be able to contact customer support if you upgrade to CE in that method, to get a new standard edition code you could give to a friend or something.
Alternatively, you can get the digital version now, play right at midnight, overwrite your license with your CE when you pick it up, and then contact our support department. In most situations they'll be able to grant you a new standard key, which you can then give to a friend, or whatever.
He also said in that thread that upgrading will not have any affect on your character progress at all.
Okay sweet thanks guys! I was just curious because I wanted to use the angel wings but I also want to play right away so I was just wondering if I will still be able to use them. Good to know that I can upgrade the CD key to the CE and use the in-game bonuses
One more thing. I read the post saying you can override the digital code of the SE with the CE license key. I ordered the regular game from Gamestop and will pick it up at midnight to play. Does it matter if the license key is digital or not? Will I still be able to override the code with the CE even though the regular game is not a digital copy? I did this because once I get my collectors edition, I am going to take the regular game and sell it back to Gamestop. Just want to make sure everything can be done. If anyone can tell me that would be great.
